ABOUT THE PRODUCT
For my website the main purpose will be to keep all my users up to date and informed with all the most recent and
all the old radio sets that have been both recorded on visual and audio platforms, so that they can listen back on
radio sets and also watch back on the videos to see who was there and what it was like. I will have similar content
to websites such sound cloud and also YouTube because sound cloud links with the audio aspect and YouTube
links with the visual aspect of sets getting recorded. However there is big differences between the links with both
these websites as there is not a website that does both visual and audio radio sets because although you can
listen to sets uploaded on sound cloud its only ever going to be the audio of the set, and as for YouTube you will
only ever get to see the sets that have been recorded and not ever set has visuals so this stops people from
getting to view all the sets they want to. So my website combines both of these aspects to make a very unique and
information packed. Another difference is that as for the content where as sound cloud people are able to upload
their own tunes and songs which is also the same for YouTube but my website is a radio set dominated website.
This will be a great way for people to find what they want in the world of radio, however to insure that young
people are not listening to any bad language that the radio sets may involve I will make sure that I put an age
restriction or maybe the sets can have a certain sign that says they have bad language in so that they can listen to
the ones without bad language.
For example some features I would have an iPhone app for my website as it will increase my target user ship
hugely due to the fact that if it was on your phone a much larger amount of people would use it as it will be much
easier o use and access and also you would be able to listen straight from your phone as well as upload straight
from you phone. Moreover in order to keep the recognition of my website high I will keep all of the house styles
and colour schemes all the same as well as the layout so people will recognize the app for this and it will be much
easier to remember which will mean more people ill use it as they have the security of knowing it’s a good and well
used app they have tried before.
My unique selling point is the fact that your are able to look at radio through all different elements such as audio
and visual, as well as being able to upload your own personal sets and repost others.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
(CONTINUED)
In the end I decided to go with the name Major Wave as I feel like this is a unique and well thought out name as its
different to normal music related websites and can mean different things to different users depending at the way you
interpret it. I like this element about it as there is many different connotations so different users will have their own
opinions of what Major Wave actually means.
For the colour scheme of my website instead of going for the usual white background and one chosen color I went for
a black background that really stands out and chose to use two contrasting colors that are the same colour but in
different shade. As I use a dark royal blue for some parts and a light baby blue for other parts as it makes the page
look vibrant and gives of a color scheme that users will remember and recognize when seeing it surfing the web. The
reason I chose the blue out of any other colors was to link it into the title of my website Major Wave as it has the word
wave in it which connotes an ocean wave and when people think of the ocean they think blue, however this also links
with the way that when someone's looking for my website they are surfing the web, and my websites got the word
‘wave’ in which people surf. So my color scheme and name have deeper meaning and are tightly interlinked to create a
unique website.
As for the font style of my website I have chose to just use two fonts throughout the whole website and this is one
called “Life is okay” which is purely used for the name of the website and then I use another font called “DIN
Condensed” for all other writing on my page. This is so that the title stands out from any other font on the website and
then everything else stay consistent and professional.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT (CONTINUED)
A significant factor to take into consideration when making a website is if you will be in synergy with social media or not.
On my website I am most likely going to be in synergy with other social media platforms in order to have a few different
platforms where users are able to see my website and also they can login in from other social media platforms to make it
easier. I could be in synergy with Facebook as when people are scrolling through Facebook looking at ideas and posts if
they click on certain videos it will then bring them to my website and they can also then login or make an account from
there. I could also do the same with twitter and this is because it will be very beneficial if people are tweeting about the
website and tweeting links to sets and videos of this website because then people will be retweeting and liking the
tweets and more people will be clicking on the links that bring it back to the website each time. As for the target
audience due to the main genre of the website it will be aimed at young adults that are into the music scene and listen
to a lot of radio sets as well as like to watch the videos that come out from radio sets. So the main ages of the target
audience will be around 16-25 years old and will be a complete mixture of male and female users as music applies to
everyone. Looking at Maslow's audience theories I would say that my audience would fall into the categories explorers
and this is because the users are interested in what is going on in todays music and want to be aware and up to date
with what's going on at the moment in time. As for the socio economic needs they will fit into the groups from E up to C1
as they are young and will most likely have low paid jobs or will be students so might not even work. Moreover looking
into Katz and psychographics I would say surveillance as people find music as a way out from their everyday lives so
this website will help them relax and escape from the usual lifestyle.

As for the main body text that I will be using on my website Major
Wave, I will be using a font that I downloaded of a website called
‘Dafont.com’ and the font I chose was called ‘life is okay’ and this is for
the logo Major Wave. As for just the app logo I will use just the letters
‘MW’ to represent the the whole title as the whole title will be to long to fit
on the app and take up to much space, but I will keep the same font
style and color.
Furthermore if I use the same font and color scheme it will create a
brand that people will remember and is significant style that will stand
out compared to other social media sites.
There are connotations behind the colors used for the title as well, the
blue is to connote the ocean as the title has the word wave in it and
people are surfing the web while on my website, and the fact that I used
the white shadow was to really bring out the contrasting colors on the
black background.

As you can see on the Photoshop drafts where I have put ‘social media’ I will be add in a log in with Facebook button
and a log in with Google button, this will make it much easier for users to log in and sign up for my website and the
easier it is the more likely for a user to sign up. Also most people have their Facebook or Google already logged in on
their web sever so by clicking this button they can be signed in instantly.

I chose to look at sound clouds terms and conditions as this is also a music based
website, and after seeing this I saw that they had a page that you could click on called
“Legal’ and this dealt with all of the legal and ethical issues on the website. The layout
was very professional and made it extremely easy for the user when looking for what
they wanted as you can see on the right the issues are split into many different sub
sections such as cookies policy and terms of use, also the copyright even has different
sub sections. Furthermore on the page of terms and conditions all terms are split into
genres such as changes in terms in use, grant of license, your content and many more
and what this means is when users are looking for certain terms this makes it much
easier, because usually terms and conditions are in one large paragraph and people
take one look and don’t want to read any of it due to the size and how long it would
actually take them to read it and find want there looking for. Also all keywords such as
“your sound cloud account” are highlighted in blue so you can click on this and then
read about this certain part.

Terms and conditions –
When talking about terms and conditions on a website I think that a highly important thing to outline is
the main rules and terms that the website wants the users to abide by, such as the sorts of music your
are aloud to put up and wants not aloud. Also I think they should always let the users know about
issues such as copyright and ethical, and other things that I would make sure that’s involved is IP and
how to contact the website about any of these issues, so if anyone has issues they are able to ask
questions and gain feedback on what they have issues on.
Privacy policy –
As for my website major wave I will make sure the privacy policy is very clear and easy to understand
and this is to ensure there is minimal confusion for users, and this would mean that ill start by letting
them what they need to give us, such as things as their address and email for when they are signing up
for an account. Also if I am telling them that I will be taking information such as these things then the
next thing I will let them know is how there information will be secure and how it will be secure as this
will give them the security of knowing that if they give us this information it will be in safe systems which
will only be with our company not any other third parties. Also there will be information such as how we
use their information, how we share their information, how we sue cookies and similar technology, your
choices with respect to you information and lastly how to contact us regarding the privacy issues.
All of the above about the terms and conditions came from the website sound cloud as I think the layout
of this is extremely helpful and also it’s a music based social media which would make sense to use
this as an inspiration.

These are the two hand drawn drafts and these link with the Photoshop drafts from the previous slides
as I made all of these drafts before creating my final website and these gave me a good idea for what I
will make the website look like as I used the same type of layouts and also kept with the colour
schemes. One thing I added was synergy with social media websites to widen the range of my
audience and gain users through being linked with other social medias.

PRODUCTION PLAN (CONTIUED)
The date of launch for my website will be January 25th and the reason I chose this date is
because all of the hype about Christmas and new years has all died down so people are back
into their normal lives and all of the distractions have gone by this point.
Overall I gave my staff 2 weeks to create my website, it is a bit of a squeeze but if everyone
sticks to their roles and works at a good pace its doable. In order to make my website I will
need staff such as writers, editors and graphic designers. The sort of resources I will need in
order to create the website will include having a very high quality computer and a good enough
software to go with it, an example would be an Apple Mac computer with the software
Dreamweaver on it, as this is professional and will make a high quality website.
A lot of my website work will be done in pairs or in big groups which is significant as it allows
me to not have to buy everyone a separate computer and means I will only have to pay for the
software once which is great as it will then keep within my budget.

Job role Salary
Editor £27,000
Writer £32,500
Journalist £29,000
Website designer £33,000
CEO £42,500
As I will be starting up a new business I will need to research what the certain salaries will be for the
different job roles in the business and how much it will cost to employ a whole team ready to start a
business. The main jobs will be things such as the writer, journalist or a CEO, depending on how the
business is going how much they will help it grow.
The equipment that I will need to use in order
to finish this project will be quite simple as all I
need is an apple mac, and this will have to be
installed with an adobe package that includes
software such as PowerPoint and
Dreamweaver. The apple mac will cost about
£845 for a high quality one and the software
can cost around £80 a month or £600 for a
years package.
REVENUE
• Around the sides of my website I am going to leave
space for other companies to be able to advertise their
products on my website. The reason for this is it will
bring me in some extra income. This advert is known as
a ‘skyscraper’. These types of adverts are tall with
heights often ranging from 500 to 800 pixels.
• Another way I will receive revenue is from sponsorship,
this is because the website is going to be free of charge.
I plan to be sponsored by companies
• Those cost to advertise on a website would be
$1500/week these are standard WEB RATES.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
Copyright is a commonly used term which describes a range of legal rights that are put in place in
original literacy, musical, dramatic or artistic works, also in things such as audio recording, films,
broadcasts and all other creative works. The types of laws under copyright are exclusive to the
copyright owner and allows them to control how their work will be used and disallows any
unauthorized use.
It first was put in place to allow the creator to just simply prevent their work from being used and
copied but over time it has been extended and now grants the creator to both prevent and control
many things such as adaptation or public performance of the copyright work, inclusion of the work
in a broadcast, or distribution of the work both physically and on the internet.
Furthermore according to privacy policy this is significant as I need to inform the users what
information I will need to have access to, and also for their own safety and security I will need to let
them know how their information will be secure and not in the hands of third parties.
Due to intellectual properties if any of my staff decide to add content onto the website then the
employer will have all rights to copyright and will be liable for all content on social media.
LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
(CONTIUED)
A highly important factor to do with legal and ethical issues is making sure to
Establish user trust and the best way to gain trust of your users is to first of all let
them know exactly how you are going to keep all their private details safe. The place
in which I am able to tell my users what information and how their information will be
in safe hands is in the privacy policy section, and I will explain to them that their
information will only be in the hands of certain adim staff and the boss of the
company, but even these people will not use your details in any other way than for the
major wave website purposes. Another way that I am able to establish their trust is
through making their accounts personal and as private as they want it to be, for
example they can make their posts only available to see for certain people such as
friends and family instead off their posts being open to anyone, lastly I will ensure that
the details stays within the company and no other third parties are able to gain access
to this information.
LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
(CONTIUED)
Another part of legal and ethical issues is to do with something called the Web
Standards Project which is to do with social media, the main goal for this project is to
minimize how complex the development is. This will enable websites to be much
easier to create, and also makes the cost significantly lower making it easier for new
companies to be able to stick to budgets and still make a high quality website.
Moreover a main feature of theirs is that they allow software to get to know the
documents of websites, for example if a search engine was created into the website
then it will maximize ease and gains greater results. How this will help my website is
the fact that my websites about people searching the newest and most up to date
music so the ease of use will hopefully bring in a larger number of users.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
(CONTIUED)
On my website I would have to get trademark in order to protect any data, and anything published
or uploaded. To get this done it will cost a fee of £170 and an additional £50 for any extras,
however I will have to give myself 6 months to allow my application to be registered and to be
looked through.
This are the steps you will have to go through in order to get trademark on your website:
- First of all I need to make sure that there are no identical trademarks or any that are similar to
mine, and I will do this by searching a text search.
- Next I will need to fill out an online application with all of my important information and within the
next week you will then receive a receipt for this application.
- This then means that you will get your examination report, if they agree with everything and
there are no issues you will then receive it after 4 weeks.
- Then for around 8 weeks your form will be open for any issues and objections, and if anything
does go wrong with it, it can take up 2 years.
- However if no objections are in your application then its passes through and you will be sent a
registration certificate.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES
(CONTIUED)
Royalties is when a website has included content which is copyrighted and if someone else includes this information then
they have to pay the original website.
The NLA is a publisher owned rights licensing and database business. They provide access to and license the re-use of
publishers' content. NLA licences contribute to a vibrant UK media and support journalism.
They manage the rights of thousands of print and web titles, and also act as a fast and effective supplier of original quality
articles and online news stories to media monitoring agencies and their clients.

IP (Intellectual Property) is having the right type of intellectual property protection helps you to stop people stealing or
copying:
• the names of your products or brands
• your inventions
• the design or look of your products
• things you write, make or produce
• Copyright, patents, designs and trade marks are all types of intellectual property protection. You get some types of
protection automatically, others you have to apply for.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion over this learning objective I have outlined the purpose of what Major Wave will do and the
type of target audience I will be aiming to draw in to use my website. Another thing that I did was made a
production plan and this was good as it made the production of the website a lot easier and much more
simple as each day the task was outlined and the deadline for each task was also there so if everything
was to follow the deadlines and tasks then it would run extremely smoothly. After the production plan
was finished I then could further look into budgets and costs of things like the equipment I will be suing
and also the staff that I will need to use in order to create the website to a high quality, after looked into
all of this I believe that with my budget its very feasible. The reason that I would be able to stick to
budget and gain revenue is the fact that I looked into many way of advertisements, and found out if I
have advertisements on my website I can create a nice amount of revenue for my website. The last thing
I looked at was all of the different types of legal and ethical issues, such as copyright, private policy,
trademark and many ore, while making sure all of my users know what they need to know and their
information is kept protected.

  • 3. ABOUT THE PRODUCT For my website the main purpose will be to keep all my users up to date and informed with all the most recent and all the old radio sets that have been both recorded on visual and audio platforms, so that they can listen back on radio sets and also watch back on the videos to see who was there and what it was like. I will have similar content to websites such sound cloud and also YouTube because sound cloud links with the audio aspect and YouTube links with the visual aspect of sets getting recorded. However there is big differences between the links with both these websites as there is not a website that does both visual and audio radio sets because although you can listen to sets uploaded on sound cloud its only ever going to be the audio of the set, and as for YouTube you will only ever get to see the sets that have been recorded and not ever set has visuals so this stops people from getting to view all the sets they want to. So my website combines both of these aspects to make a very unique and information packed. Another difference is that as for the content where as sound cloud people are able to upload their own tunes and songs which is also the same for YouTube but my website is a radio set dominated website. This will be a great way for people to find what they want in the world of radio, however to insure that young people are not listening to any bad language that the radio sets may involve I will make sure that I put an age restriction or maybe the sets can have a certain sign that says they have bad language in so that they can listen to the ones without bad language. For example some features I would have an iPhone app for my website as it will increase my target user ship hugely due to the fact that if it was on your phone a much larger amount of people would use it as it will be much easier o use and access and also you would be able to listen straight from your phone as well as upload straight from you phone. Moreover in order to keep the recognition of my website high I will keep all of the house styles and colour schemes all the same as well as the layout so people will recognize the app for this and it will be much easier to remember which will mean more people ill use it as they have the security of knowing it’s a good and well used app they have tried before. My unique selling point is the fact that your are able to look at radio through all different elements such as audio and visual, as well as being able to upload your own personal sets and repost others.
  • 4. ABOUT THE PRODUCT (CONTINUED) In the end I decided to go with the name Major Wave as I feel like this is a unique and well thought out name as its different to normal music related websites and can mean different things to different users depending at the way you interpret it. I like this element about it as there is many different connotations so different users will have their own opinions of what Major Wave actually means. For the colour scheme of my website instead of going for the usual white background and one chosen color I went for a black background that really stands out and chose to use two contrasting colors that are the same colour but in different shade. As I use a dark royal blue for some parts and a light baby blue for other parts as it makes the page look vibrant and gives of a color scheme that users will remember and recognize when seeing it surfing the web. The reason I chose the blue out of any other colors was to link it into the title of my website Major Wave as it has the word wave in it which connotes an ocean wave and when people think of the ocean they think blue, however this also links with the way that when someone's looking for my website they are surfing the web, and my websites got the word ‘wave’ in which people surf. So my color scheme and name have deeper meaning and are tightly interlinked to create a unique website. As for the font style of my website I have chose to just use two fonts throughout the whole website and this is one called “Life is okay” which is purely used for the name of the website and then I use another font called “DIN Condensed” for all other writing on my page. This is so that the title stands out from any other font on the website and then everything else stay consistent and professional.
  • 5. ABOUT THE PRODUCT (CONTINUED) A significant factor to take into consideration when making a website is if you will be in synergy with social media or not. On my website I am most likely going to be in synergy with other social media platforms in order to have a few different platforms where users are able to see my website and also they can login in from other social media platforms to make it easier. I could be in synergy with Facebook as when people are scrolling through Facebook looking at ideas and posts if they click on certain videos it will then bring them to my website and they can also then login or make an account from there. I could also do the same with twitter and this is because it will be very beneficial if people are tweeting about the website and tweeting links to sets and videos of this website because then people will be retweeting and liking the tweets and more people will be clicking on the links that bring it back to the website each time. As for the target audience due to the main genre of the website it will be aimed at young adults that are into the music scene and listen to a lot of radio sets as well as like to watch the videos that come out from radio sets. So the main ages of the target audience will be around 16-25 years old and will be a complete mixture of male and female users as music applies to everyone. Looking at Maslow's audience theories I would say that my audience would fall into the categories explorers and this is because the users are interested in what is going on in todays music and want to be aware and up to date with what's going on at the moment in time. As for the socio economic needs they will fit into the groups from E up to C1 as they are young and will most likely have low paid jobs or will be students so might not even work. Moreover looking into Katz and psychographics I would say surveillance as people find music as a way out from their everyday lives so this website will help them relax and escape from the usual lifestyle.

  • 9. WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY (CONTINUED) As for the main body text that I will be using on my website Major Wave, I will be using a font that I downloaded of a website called ‘Dafont.com’ and the font I chose was called ‘life is okay’ and this is for the logo Major Wave. As for just the app logo I will use just the letters ‘MW’ to represent the the whole title as the whole title will be to long to fit on the app and take up to much space, but I will keep the same font style and color. Furthermore if I use the same font and color scheme it will create a brand that people will remember and is significant style that will stand out compared to other social media sites. There are connotations behind the colors used for the title as well, the blue is to connote the ocean as the title has the word wave in it and people are surfing the web while on my website, and the fact that I used the white shadow was to really bring out the contrasting colors on the black background.
  • 10. WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY (CONTINUED) As you can see on the Photoshop drafts where I have put ‘social media’ I will be add in a log in with Facebook button and a log in with Google button, this will make it much easier for users to log in and sign up for my website and the easier it is the more likely for a user to sign up. Also most people have their Facebook or Google already logged in on their web sever so by clicking this button they can be signed in instantly.
  • 11. WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY (CONTINUED) I chose to look at sound clouds terms and conditions as this is also a music based website, and after seeing this I saw that they had a page that you could click on called “Legal’ and this dealt with all of the legal and ethical issues on the website. The layout was very professional and made it extremely easy for the user when looking for what they wanted as you can see on the right the issues are split into many different sub sections such as cookies policy and terms of use, also the copyright even has different sub sections. Furthermore on the page of terms and conditions all terms are split into genres such as changes in terms in use, grant of license, your content and many more and what this means is when users are looking for certain terms this makes it much easier, because usually terms and conditions are in one large paragraph and people take one look and don’t want to read any of it due to the size and how long it would actually take them to read it and find want there looking for. Also all keywords such as “your sound cloud account” are highlighted in blue so you can click on this and then read about this certain part. https://soundcloud.com/terms-of-use
  • 12. WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY (CONTINUED) Terms and conditions – When talking about terms and conditions on a website I think that a highly important thing to outline is the main rules and terms that the website wants the users to abide by, such as the sorts of music your are aloud to put up and wants not aloud. Also I think they should always let the users know about issues such as copyright and ethical, and other things that I would make sure that’s involved is IP and how to contact the website about any of these issues, so if anyone has issues they are able to ask questions and gain feedback on what they have issues on. Privacy policy – As for my website major wave I will make sure the privacy policy is very clear and easy to understand and this is to ensure there is minimal confusion for users, and this would mean that ill start by letting them what they need to give us, such as things as their address and email for when they are signing up for an account. Also if I am telling them that I will be taking information such as these things then the next thing I will let them know is how there information will be secure and how it will be secure as this will give them the security of knowing that if they give us this information it will be in safe systems which will only be with our company not any other third parties. Also there will be information such as how we use their information, how we share their information, how we sue cookies and similar technology, your choices with respect to you information and lastly how to contact us regarding the privacy issues. All of the above about the terms and conditions came from the website sound cloud as I think the layout of this is extremely helpful and also it’s a music based social media which would make sense to use this as an inspiration. https://soundcloud.com/terms-of-use
  • 13. WEBSITE FUNCTIONALITY (CONTINUED) These are the two hand drawn drafts and these link with the Photoshop drafts from the previous slides as I made all of these drafts before creating my final website and these gave me a good idea for what I will make the website look like as I used the same type of layouts and also kept with the colour schemes. One thing I added was synergy with social media websites to widen the range of my audience and gain users through being linked with other social medias.

  • 15. PRODUCTION PLAN (CONTIUED) The date of launch for my website will be January 25th and the reason I chose this date is because all of the hype about Christmas and new years has all died down so people are back into their normal lives and all of the distractions have gone by this point. Overall I gave my staff 2 weeks to create my website, it is a bit of a squeeze but if everyone sticks to their roles and works at a good pace its doable. In order to make my website I will need staff such as writers, editors and graphic designers. The sort of resources I will need in order to create the website will include having a very high quality computer and a good enough software to go with it, an example would be an Apple Mac computer with the software Dreamweaver on it, as this is professional and will make a high quality website. A lot of my website work will be done in pairs or in big groups which is significant as it allows me to not have to buy everyone a separate computer and means I will only have to pay for the software once which is great as it will then keep within my budget.
  • 16. PRODUCTION PLAN (CONTIUED) https://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-editor-salary https://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-writer-salary https://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-ceo-salary https://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-journalist-salary https://www.totaljobs.com/salary-checker/average-website-design-salary Job role Salary Editor £27,000 Writer £32,500 Journalist £29,000 Website designer £33,000 CEO £42,500 As I will be starting up a new business I will need to research what the certain salaries will be for the different job roles in the business and how much it will cost to employ a whole team ready to start a business. The main jobs will be things such as the writer, journalist or a CEO, depending on how the business is going how much they will help it grow. The equipment that I will need to use in order to finish this project will be quite simple as all I need is an apple mac, and this will have to be installed with an adobe package that includes software such as PowerPoint and Dreamweaver. The apple mac will cost about £845 for a high quality one and the software can cost around £80 a month or £600 for a years package.
  • 17. REVENUE • Around the sides of my website I am going to leave space for other companies to be able to advertise their products on my website. The reason for this is it will bring me in some extra income. This advert is known as a ‘skyscraper’. These types of adverts are tall with heights often ranging from 500 to 800 pixels. • Another way I will receive revenue is from sponsorship, this is because the website is going to be free of charge. I plan to be sponsored by companies • Those cost to advertise on a website would be $1500/week these are standard WEB RATES. https://www.marketingterms.com/dictionary/skyscraper_ad/ https://www.promisemedia.com/online-advertising/online-rate-card-tips-and-guidelines
  • 18. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES Copyright is a commonly used term which describes a range of legal rights that are put in place in original literacy, musical, dramatic or artistic works, also in things such as audio recording, films, broadcasts and all other creative works. The types of laws under copyright are exclusive to the copyright owner and allows them to control how their work will be used and disallows any unauthorized use. It first was put in place to allow the creator to just simply prevent their work from being used and copied but over time it has been extended and now grants the creator to both prevent and control many things such as adaptation or public performance of the copyright work, inclusion of the work in a broadcast, or distribution of the work both physically and on the internet. Furthermore according to privacy policy this is significant as I need to inform the users what information I will need to have access to, and also for their own safety and security I will need to let them know how their information will be secure and not in the hands of third parties. Due to intellectual properties if any of my staff decide to add content onto the website then the employer will have all rights to copyright and will be liable for all content on social media.
  • 19. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES (CONTIUED) A highly important factor to do with legal and ethical issues is making sure to Establish user trust and the best way to gain trust of your users is to first of all let them know exactly how you are going to keep all their private details safe. The place in which I am able to tell my users what information and how their information will be in safe hands is in the privacy policy section, and I will explain to them that their information will only be in the hands of certain adim staff and the boss of the company, but even these people will not use your details in any other way than for the major wave website purposes. Another way that I am able to establish their trust is through making their accounts personal and as private as they want it to be, for example they can make their posts only available to see for certain people such as friends and family instead off their posts being open to anyone, lastly I will ensure that the details stays within the company and no other third parties are able to gain access to this information.
  • 20. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES (CONTIUED) Another part of legal and ethical issues is to do with something called the Web Standards Project which is to do with social media, the main goal for this project is to minimize how complex the development is. This will enable websites to be much easier to create, and also makes the cost significantly lower making it easier for new companies to be able to stick to budgets and still make a high quality website. Moreover a main feature of theirs is that they allow software to get to know the documents of websites, for example if a search engine was created into the website then it will maximize ease and gains greater results. How this will help my website is the fact that my websites about people searching the newest and most up to date music so the ease of use will hopefully bring in a larger number of users. https://www.webstandards.org
  • 21. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES (CONTIUED) On my website I would have to get trademark in order to protect any data, and anything published or uploaded. To get this done it will cost a fee of £170 and an additional £50 for any extras, however I will have to give myself 6 months to allow my application to be registered and to be looked through. This are the steps you will have to go through in order to get trademark on your website: - First of all I need to make sure that there are no identical trademarks or any that are similar to mine, and I will do this by searching a text search. - Next I will need to fill out an online application with all of my important information and within the next week you will then receive a receipt for this application. - This then means that you will get your examination report, if they agree with everything and there are no issues you will then receive it after 4 weeks. - Then for around 8 weeks your form will be open for any issues and objections, and if anything does go wrong with it, it can take up 2 years. - However if no objections are in your application then its passes through and you will be sent a registration certificate. https://www.thetrademarkbox.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4fGz0omA2gIVzJ3tCh2NaQ4GEAAYASA AEgLphvD_BwE
  • 22. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES (CONTIUED) Royalties is when a website has included content which is copyrighted and if someone else includes this information then they have to pay the original website. The NLA is a publisher owned rights licensing and database business. They provide access to and license the re-use of publishers' content. NLA licences contribute to a vibrant UK media and support journalism. They manage the rights of thousands of print and web titles, and also act as a fast and effective supplier of original quality articles and online news stories to media monitoring agencies and their clients. http://www.nlamediaaccess.com/default.aspx?tabid=46 IP (Intellectual Property) is having the right type of intellectual property protection helps you to stop people stealing or copying: • the names of your products or brands • your inventions • the design or look of your products • things you write, make or produce • Copyright, patents, designs and trade marks are all types of intellectual property protection. You get some types of protection automatically, others you have to apply for. https://www.gov.uk/intellectual-property-an-overview/what-ip-is
  • 23. CONCLUSION In conclusion over this learning objective I have outlined the purpose of what Major Wave will do and the type of target audience I will be aiming to draw in to use my website. Another thing that I did was made a production plan and this was good as it made the production of the website a lot easier and much more simple as each day the task was outlined and the deadline for each task was also there so if everything was to follow the deadlines and tasks then it would run extremely smoothly. After the production plan was finished I then could further look into budgets and costs of things like the equipment I will be suing and also the staff that I will need to use in order to create the website to a high quality, after looked into all of this I believe that with my budget its very feasible. The reason that I would be able to stick to budget and gain revenue is the fact that I looked into many way of advertisements, and found out if I have advertisements on my website I can create a nice amount of revenue for my website. The last thing I looked at was all of the different types of legal and ethical issues, such as copyright, private policy, trademark and many ore, while making sure all of my users know what they need to know and their information is kept protected.
