(Recommended Standard-232)
RS-232
    RS-232 is a standard by which two serial
     devices communicate.
    Transmission voltages are –15V(logic 1) and
     +15V(logic 0).
    The maximum speed, according to the standard, is 20kbit/s.
    The connection must be no longer than 50 feet.
    Asynchronous form of communication.

APPLICATIONS
   • Interface for connecting modems and data
     acquisition devices (i.e. GPS receivers,

     serial port (known as COM port).

   • Name Derived from IBM Personal System/2
     series of Computers.
   • Used to Interface Keyboard and mice with PC.
   • PS-2 connectors were colour coded.

     interfaces superseded parallel port.
