World Champion Under 23 UCI Road Race World Championship in Mendrisio Switzerland Men's Under-23 Time Trial 23 September 2009 Aussie Rules: Jack Bobridge powered his way to the Under-23 World Championship Time-Trial title. The 20 year-old clocked a time of 40 minutes 44.79 seconds on the 33.2-kilometre course near Lake Lugano on the Italian border. Bobridge, a multiple National and Junior World–title holder, beat second-placed Nelson Oliveira of Portugal by a massive 18sec margin and Patrick Gretsch of Germany, who finished third who trailed by more than 27secs.
