ORGANIC FARMING producing food naturally
Organic farming is the form of agriculture that relies on crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest
control to maintain soil productivity and control pests.

VERMI CULTURE
Vermi-culture means artificial rearing or cultivation of worms and using them for the betterment of soil quality.
Earthworms can be bred in their farm or courtyard to produce organic manure.
Vermi-culture can also be a lucrative economic activity for rural people, especially farmers.
Earthworms multiplied by this technology can be sold as animal feed specially for poultry, fishery and dairy farms.

Their houses are made using ‘karvi’ (Strobilanthus Grahamianus) and the
walls are covered with a paste of red mud and cow-dung. The flooring too is
made of the same mixture.
For the roof they use leaves of coconut tree. Some of them also make use of
earthen tiles and cover them with the empty stalks of the paddy.

‘VAGHAI’ Worshipping the Tiger God
They are well-known to have faith in ‘Vaghai’ (Tiger God). They consider the
tiger a symbol of life and regeneration and offer a part of their harvest to it. As
such they usually do not have well-built temples, but have carved wooden
statues of tigers with / without other components of nature.
The tiger is also regarded as the harbinger of fertility. Warli paintings depict the
tiger as a part of daily life, often walking through or sitting in a village.

THE ENVIRONMENT MESSAGE
#1 Now that we are aware of the fact that:
The human race is mostly responsible for the terrible environmental problems around the world.
We can manage to save the earth if we cooperate.
#2 What if we don’t do anything about it?
It will be too late to turn this terrible situation around. We will face war for land, famine and an
increase of natural disasters. However, if we work together, we can change it!
#3 What can we do about it?
The 7Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse, Research, Regenerate, Rethink.
“WASTE NOT, WANT NOT”. Most importantly, don’t forget to love our earth.
#4 To save the Earth:
We require your help in preserving the environment. We want you to promote a safe environment.
Schools have to teach and take action about environmental issues.
Our planet is the only one we have.
Let's start taking better care of it before it's too late.
