This document outlines training materials and recommendations for school staff on fire safety and burn prevention. It includes workbooks, manuals, training cards, and presentations available in multiple languages that provide guidance on what to do in case of fire, burns, and evacuating students with disabilities. It also recommends establishing emergency procedures, regularly inspecting fire equipment, analyzing risks, and cooperating with local fire brigades. Suggestions are given for a week-long awareness campaign teaching students about fire alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency calls, first aid, and having students demonstrate their learning through creative posters. Contact information is also provided for the local partner organization.

7. Organise regular practical training for students on emergency evacuation and burn treatment.
Establish appropriate procedures, including safety drills, to be followed in case of smoke, flames or fire.
Fire Safety trainings
Regularly inspect the pressure in the fire extinguisher, its expiration date
and make sure there are enough staff members who know how to use it.
Check Fire Extinguishers
Perform weekly check by school staff to ensure proper
functioning of the smoke detectors and fire alarm!
Verify the system by Fire Protection and Security Experts.
Check smoke detectors
Make demonstrations how to make an emergency call:
What to say first? What details to report about the accident?
112 Emergency Call
Make sure that all equipment is maintained appropriately,
works properly, and is regularly inspected and repaired.
Maintain Equipment
Recommendations for teachers, communities and educational authorities
to reduce fire and burn risks:
8. Carry out risk analysis - identify risk factors, risk areas at
school, take into account the vulnerable people in the building
Analyze Risks
Ensure minimal amount of flammable liquids are kept on the school premises
and dangerous chemicals, which might cause burns, are kept locked.
Adopt safety measures regarding dangerous substances and objects.
Flammable Liquids and Chemicals
Make sure that students and school staff are well-aware of all
emergency exits. All emergency exits to be kept clear and free
from blockages or obstructions at all times.
Emergency Exits
Recognise fire brigade department and voluntary
civil units as partners in fire safety promotion
Cooperation
Mind that in case of fire emergency, students with disabilities are
highly vulnerable. Make sure students and school staff are trained
to assist the children with disabilities in case of emergency.

Recommendations for teachers, communities and educational authorities
to reduce fire and burn risks:
9. Implement awareness-raising campaign at school:
Day 1:

Make sure every child identifies your school’s alarm and for
students with hearing impairments, identify other, non-
auditory cues to alert them in case of fire emergency.
Sound of the
alarm
Day 2:
The Right Equipment for Fire Safety
Teach students how to use a fire extinguisher, recognise if it is
out of date. Make sure they are well-aware of all fire escapes,
and the fire safety plan on each floor of the building.

Day 3:
How to make an emergency call
Teach students under what circumstances to contact 112
emergency number.
What do you say when you call 112:

Day 5:
Creativity Day: What have I learned about
fire safety and burns prevention?
Invite students to split in groups and create
