13. Education in India The medium of education in India is mostly English in all the cities and towns. Most of the Education system is run by the Franciscan, Jesuit, Dominican, Augustianian priests and nuns. 15. Mother Theresa 1910-1997 Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on August 27, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia. She entered the Order of the Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto in Ireland at the age of 18 in 1928. She took the name "Teresa" after St. Teresa of Lesiux, patroness of the Missionaries. Mother said she received a calling from God "to serve him among the poorest of the poor." Mother Teresa opened the Nirmal Hriday ("Pure Heart") Home for Dying Destitutes in Calcutta.and founded an order of nuns called the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India dedicated to serving the poor. The foundation is celebrated Oct. 7 1950, the feast of the Holy Rosary. To identify herself with the poor she chooses a plain white sari with a blue border and a simple cross pinned to her left shoulder. She dedicated every day of her life caring for "The dying, the cripple, the mentally ill, the unwanted, the unloved" and she loved every minute of it because she was loving, she was cleaning, feeding "Jesus in disguise". but what is more important she made them feel good, loved, wanted, she gave them back their dignity that poverty had taken away from them, and even if they died, they died with a smile on their face....somebody loves and cares for them ....She was probably the most admired women of all time, received many awards and prizes for her outstanding work and she used her reputation traveling all over the world raising money and support for her causes.
