3. I find adobe spark useful for very quick promotion of
events or introduction to topics.
For anything more substantial, other tools would work best
but remember short is good.
We have used Panopto for longer pieces
4. Prezi offers a few
more dynamic
options to
powerpoint but I
think the key
comes down to
your
presentation
style and how
you would like
to interact with
the audience
and the
presentation.
5. https://PollEv.com/surveys/wExNngQFn/web
We use poll everywhere within information literacy classes to
check on their confidence at the beginning of the session and at
the end. The intention being that we can then track this as a
cohort throughout their course.
We have a subscription to this through the university but there
are other tools available including plickers and mentimeter
6. This is an internally focused survey
for library staff to ask their opinion
on how they felt induction went.
This was using Bristol Online
surveys but could easily have been
SurveyMonkey or Poll everywhere
or anything else.
Evaluation of users and staff is
critical to any marketing campaign
7. Where possible, tools
work well when they
are used
collaboratively, we
use the libguide
software to create a
guide on academic
skills in collaboration
with the university’s
engagement team.
This material could
have been made
using other tools as
well.
8. The key to all this working is using
the tool(s) that are best for your
users.
This is a wordpress blog post but
could easily have been put in a
VLE, on a website, sent via twitter,
included in a e-newsletter etc.
9. Sharing your work afterwards is so
helpful to the profession and your
users.
In this case, this is a presentation
to the library profession but could
have been a presentation to users.
A Creative Commons license was
added
10. We have built upon the
excellent work of Cardiff
University Library Services
and University of
Manchester Library to
make a Xerte on Citing
and Referencing.
This made the process
much simpler for us but
we could badge it with the
UWL logo and make other
local changes so it made
sense to our students but
reused the initial work of
other library professionals
