The Bluest Eye Analysis
"The Bluest Eye" "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison is a very complex story. While not being a
novel of great length is very long on complexity. It tells the story of Pecola Breedlove, a young
African American girl immersed in poverty and made "ugly" by the Society of the early 1940's
that defines beauty in terms of blonde haired white skinned , and in this case specifically Shirley
Temple. The novel opens in the fall of 1941, just after the Great Depression, in Lorain, Ohio.
Nine–year–old Claudia MacTeer and her 10–year–old sister, Frieda, live with their parents in an
"old, cold and green" house. What they lack in money they make up for in love, and yet they don't
quite know how to express it correctly. The MacTeers decide to take in...show more content...
She also wrote "No one could have convinced them that were not relentlessly and aggressively
ugly." (Morrison 38), and "You looked at them and wondered why they were so ugly; you looked
closely and could not find the source. Then you realized that it came from conviction, their
conviction. It was as though some mysterious all–knowing master had given each one a cloak of
ugliness to wear, and they had each accepted it without question." (Morrison 39). This shows the
attitude that the whole family had about themselves. It says that they felt no one could prove to
them that since they were black, that they were not ugly. They just didn't think very much of
themselves. Then she describes how Pecola and her whole family were reminded every day that
they are not beautiful, not white. In the book Mrs. Morrison wrote that "she also wants a family
unlike her own.". Here the author is pointing out what Pecola wants, she wants a family that is not
like her own. She is feeling as if her family isn't so great, and that she could use a new, more perfect
like family, a white blue eyed family.
She also starts the novel by describing the perfect family, with the Dick and Jane story. She does this
in a way to tease the reader then having the Dick and Jane story run in to one long sentence like it
was flowing down the drain and so too Pecola's perfect family. "Mother, Father, Dick and Jane live
in the green –and– white house. They are very happy." (Morrison 4). This shows

LASIK Eye Surgery Essay
Nowadays, different options for correcting vision problems are available. LASIK eye surgery is
one of these options that is a procedure done on the cornea; the clear part in front of the eye. This
procedure tends to reduce the dependence on glasses and contact lenses and provide excellent
vision. LASIK has been proposed as the perfect way to provide excellent vision without the need for
glasses. Furthermore, some advantages have been emphasised such as the shortness of procedure
duration time and the immediate noticeable excellent results. However, there are serious
complications can be occur by this procedure. This essay will argue that LASIK eye surgery is not
the best way to provide improved vision with the freedom of glasses compared...show more content...
This certainly indicates that LASIK is not the best treatment due to the high possibility of scaring the
cornea permanently as a result of such complication. Furthermore, the second step, which is
performed by using excimer laser to reshape the corneal structure by removing tissues to correct the
refractive errors, can cause other serious complications. The most serious complication is corneal
ectasia which means that the cornea bulges from the surface due to the weakness and thinning of the
layers as a result of corneal tissue ablation. Guttman (2008) points out that the relationship between
changes in corneal hysteresis increased with greater ablation depth. This indicates that ablation of
corneal tissue is the main reason in reducing corneal resistance which as a result can cause ectasia. In
this case the only available solution is corneal transplant which can cause further complications by
itself. On the other hand, ortho–k is a safer alternative treatment which will provide patients with a
good vision and freedom from any visual aids without such complications. This process uses contact
lenses that reshape corneal structure during sleeping time. This treatment considered to be safer
because of its effect on the cornea. It is reversible, so, if any complication appears, stoping the
contact lens will be sufficient because the eyes will soon resume their normal condition (Cho et

The Evil Eye Essay
The Evil Eye
Edgar Allen Poe shows us the dark part of human kind. Conflict with in ones self, state of madness,
and emotional break down all occur within this short story. The narrator of the story is a mad man
that is haunted by his idea that the old man has an evil eye.
Through the first person narrator, Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell–Tale Heart" illustrates
how man's imagination is capable of being so vivid that it profoundly affects people's lives. The
manifestation of the narrator's imagination unconsciously plants seeds in his mind, and those seeds
grow into an unmanageable situation for which there is no room for reason and which culminates in
murder.
The fixation on the old man's vulture–like eye forces the narrator...show more content...
The narrator shows his contrariety when he confesses he loves the old man, but he is still too
overwhelmed by the pale blue eye to restrain him from the all–consuming desire to eliminate the eye.
His struggle is evident as he waits to kill the old man in his sleep so that he won't have to face the
old man when he kills him; but on the other hand, the narrator can't justify the killing unless the
vulture eye was open. The narrator is finally able to kill the man because of the torture of the eye.
The narrator sets out to rid his life of the fear he created by obsessing over the man's eye, but once
that fear is destroyed, another fear – that of the heartbeat – is created and becomes more
overwhelming than the first. In playing mind games with him – seeing how far he can push himself
to triumph over his own insanity – the narrator slips further into a fantasy world. His overriding
confidence in killing the man ultimately turns into overriding guilt even as he justifies in his mind
the savage killing, chopping up the body and placing it under the floorboards. The narrator's
imagination creates his need and plan to destroy the eye, but it then creates the need to save himself
from the heartbeat that drives him over the edge.
Symbolism is an important aspect of the story. The major symbol is the heartbeat. The narrator
believed that the sound was the beating of the old man's heart,

Eye contact Essay
A common phrase used about the eyes is that, "the eyes are the window to the soul." This phrase
is not necessarily true; however, it gives a good perspective on how people use eyes to judge a
person's character. First of all, eye contact is a great communication tool and can be used effectively
in social situation. Second, a teacher can use eye contact to help their interaction with students.
Third, employers want a future employee to have good eye contact to know that the employee is
listening and will understand the job they are asked to perform. Eye contact is important and can
determine a person's true thoughts and opinions. The use of eye contact in socializing is important.
Social Situations Eye contact can determine a person's...show more content...
There are people with high self–esteem and people with low self–esteem. People with low
self–esteem and people with high self–esteem have different eye contact reactions when they receive
news. People with high self–esteem reduce eye contact and avoid it when they are receiving news
they do not like or do not want to hear, however, they have excellent eye contact while receiving
good news (Greene & Frandsen, 1979). People with low self–esteem are on the opposite end of the
spectrum, they increase eye contact with bad news and decrease eye contact with good news
(Greene & Frandsen, 1979). The eyes can even have conversations of their own in social
situations. You can be saying one thing and your eyes could be saying another. You can use your
eyes to tell people things that you do not want to say out loud. People use their eyes to help in the
turn taking in a conversation; they just use their eyes to show that they are anxious to talk or are
tired of talking and wish the other person would chime in (Comadena, 1990). The eyes are a
dangerous tool to use in social situations. They can be used effectively or can be confused with
staring or gawking. People do not always like to be looked at, even if the intentions are good. There
are two types of people, people that feel they need to be stared at and those

Essay on An Eye for an Eye
"An eye for an eye", this quote is used often among many diversities of people; however, Edgar
Allan Poe took this quote to extremes in his story The Cask of Amontillado. Poe's usage of
dramatic and verbal irony, foreshadowing and symbolism brings about a strong tale of revenge.
Revenge is a feeling that has the ability to over come a person's grip on reality. The narrator,
Montresor feels that he was greatly insulted by the unfortunate Fortunado. For this reason Montresor
seeks revengeance on Fortunado for his heinous crime.
Dramatic irony is used when we know, or draw a conclusion of, what will happen to Fortunato,
although he continues his descent into the catacombs in pursuit of the Amontillado. The sense of
revenge reaches its...show more content...
This is the only way Montresor feels he will gain his revenge. Poe uses verbal irony in Montesor's
toast to Fortunato's long life. Montresor says, "Drink ..." Fortunato replies, "I drink ... to the
buried that repose around us." Montresor says, "And I to your long life." It is know that
Montresor's intentions are for Fortunato to die soon. The real reason Montresor is toasting is
because he wants Fortunato to be with his to be with his ancestors in the catacombs. Montresor
also calls Fortunato his dear friend. Fortunato thinks that Montresor is his friend, but Montresor is
only seeking revenge. Montresor also says, "My dear Fortunato..." he calls Fortunato dear when
he hates him with a passion. Once again, Montresor calls Fortunato a friend when he says, "My
dear friend, no; I will not impose upon your good nature." This is also irony because Fortunato is
really Montresor's enemy. Montresor also speaks of Fortunato's "good nature", but Fortunato insulted
Montresor. This is why Montresor does not consider his a friend and has planned to kill him out of
revenge.
There are also many symbols in Poe's, The Cask of Amontillado, that are ironically used in his story
of revenge. The first symbol is when Poe calls the character Fortunato, who is not really fortunate.
Montresor, on the other hand, his name is associated with "treasure" giving the reader an image of
a rich and powerful man (Gruesser). And to an extent he was, being that he was so harsh, and able

Eye For An Eye
Although, some citizens feel that an eye for an eye is a satisfactory way of determining one's
punishment for a wrongdoing, others feel that a person is punishable in other ways than inflicting
the pain the victim felt. If a person gets brutally bombarded, the person that hurt one should be
punished, but not in the same way the victim was. Sometimes an eye for an eye is a terrific way of
determining one's punishment; however, it can become very violent in some cases. People should not
get revenge for the wrongdoings a person does upon them; nevertheless, the authorities or officials
should punish them in a way that will get through to them.
First and foremost, an eye for an eye is not a good system for determining punishments because
...show more content...
An eye for an eye can hurt other people than just the person that has hurt someone. Not only the
victim but their families can suffer from emotional and psychological problems for a lifetime. If
someone murders a person remorselessly they should be punished; however, there are other ways
to punish someone rather than inhumanely hurting them. If the person survives the non
compulsory punishment from the authorities, they can and probably will suffer from things that
they will never be able to forget. In contrast, if a person hurts someone or their family, they should
be punished like the victim was. People should have a consciousness of what they are doing;
nevertheless, they should be punished just like the victim and their family was. People should do
unto others as you have them do unto you, so if a person is attacked, they should be attacked as
effectively as the victim was. There are some heartless attackers out there, so people should be
heartless right back and show them what they did and are doing is notoriously wrong. In conclusion,
the an eye for an eye system should not be used in deciding punishments for hoodlums. Using this
system can be terribly dangerous and can possibly result in death or injury. In the future, if this
system is being used somewhere in the country, it should be stopped immediately before further
damage is done to the

The Eye And The Ear
Like the other senses in human anatomy, both senses, hearing and sight, consist of many structures
of our body to provide these functions. The organs which are primary and absolutely crucial for
this kind of sensory actions are: the eye and the ear. They are connected to the brain, and they are
highly influenced by it to interpret what can be seen and heard. The different parts of the eye are
responsible for the body to absorb light and perception objects in the true color, intensity and detail.
While, the ear's components are important for detect, perceive sounds and controlling position and
balance.
The process of seeing can take a place thanks to the fact that each of the eye parts has its unique
structure and related to it role to fulfil. The eye component such as a conjunctiva, are layers of
mucus, which help keep the outside of the eye moist, free of damage or infection. The structure next
to it, cornea, is a dome–shaped, multilayer outer covering of the eye, which protects it from damage
and allows it to focus on a light more accurately. Right behind it, the two chambers aqueous
humour can found with a watery substance that fills the eye, and maintains its shape. On the back
of the aqueous humour lays the pupil, a black dot in the middle of the eye that absorbs light into
inside of it, so the eye can focus on the objects in front of it. The iris is a structure that surrounds
the pupil, guarantee the eye its colour, and allows it to absorb less/more light, so it

Different Color Eyes Essay
My mother use to be "an active volcano." Now she is 77, older and frail. I felt guilty. This feeling
does not abandon me when I am thinking how I have rarely visited my mother. How is she? I
have not seen her for couple years, but soon, very soon I will see her. I hurried to embrace her
again. The taxi rushed on an empty road. It was an early summer morning. I was looking through a
window. Light fog was spreading on the land, enveloping trees and bushes and making a view
similar to a mirage. Sunrise commenced. On the skyline the sun, as a giant orange–red sphere, was
lifting giving to a landscape the warm nuances and more legible forms. In the distance appeared
houses. The taxi was driving across the village where I grew up. Since I...show more content...
Oh! These eyes, she has exceptional eyes; they are a different color: left eye is green, but right eye
is clear brown. In youth my mother was brunette, about five feet high not very thin, but well done
with feminine forms. She was always with nice coiffure and well–dressed, elegant, simple and with a
good taste, and never in pants. An inalienable part of her clothes were shoes on the heels, which
made her walking more graceful. She has never worn a makeup only a light color lipstick. She
was a beautiful woman, on my regard, with which the mother has never agreed. When I asked
her, "How can you explain those numerous admirers whom you had in your life?" She laughed
and replied, "They were entranced by my eyes are a different color." My mother was a librarian.
Until now, the odor of books associates with the time when I have spent in the library reading
books, while she was working. Owing to the profession, she has always read and developed. The
mother was very creative and full of ideas woman. Therefore, people have always surrounded her,
and especially youth has been attracted. She had written scenarios for concertos, dedicating for
special events and participated in as the master of ceremonies. She founded an amateur dramatic
theater where she was the producer and actress. I liked to see their repetitions and shows. She was
acting so harmoniously and speaking so naturally that there was not doubt that was a real personage,
whom she was

This shows the attitude that the whole family had about themselves. It says that they felt no one could prove to them that since they were black, that they were not ugly. They just didn't think very much of themselves. Then she describes how Pecola and her whole family were reminded every day that they are not beautiful, not white. In the book Mrs. Morrison wrote that "she also wants a family unlike her own.". Here the author is pointing out what Pecola wants, she wants a family that is not like her own. She is feeling as if her family isn't so great, and that she could use a new, more perfect like family, a white blue eyed family. She also starts the novel by describing the perfect family, with the Dick and Jane story. She does this in a way to tease the reader then having the Dick and Jane story run in to one long sentence like it was flowing down the drain and so too Pecola's perfect family. The narrator sets out to rid his life of the fear he created by obsessing over the man's eye, but once that fear is destroyed, another fear – that of the heartbeat – is created and becomes more overwhelming than the first. In playing mind games with him – seeing how far he can push himself to triumph over his own insanity – the narrator slips further into a fantasy world. His overriding confidence in killing the man ultimately turns into overriding guilt even as he justifies in his mind the savage killing, chopping up the body and placing it under the floorboards. The narrator's imagination creates his need and plan to destroy the eye, but it then creates the need to save himself from the heartbeat that drives him over the edge. Symbolism is an important aspect of the story. The major symbol is the heartbeat. The narrator believed that the sound was the beating of the old man's heart, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

People with low self–esteem and people with high self–esteem have different eye contact reactions when they receive news. People with high self–esteem reduce eye contact and avoid it when they are receiving news they do not like or do not want to hear, however, they have excellent eye contact while receiving good news (Greene & Frandsen, 1979). People with low self–esteem are on the opposite end of the spectrum, they increase eye contact with bad news and decrease eye contact with good news (Greene & Frandsen, 1979). The eyes can even have conversations of their own in social situations. You can be saying one thing and your eyes could be saying another. You can use your eyes to tell people things that you do not want to say out loud. People use their eyes to help in the turn taking in a conversation; they just use their eyes to show that they are anxious to talk or are tired of talking and wish the other person would chime in (Comadena, 1990). The eyes are a dangerous tool to use in social situations. They can be used effectively or can be confused with staring or gawking. • 5. Essay on An Eye for an Eye "An eye for an eye", this quote is used often among many diversities of people; however, Edgar Allan Poe took this quote to extremes in his story The Cask of Amontillado. Poe's usage of dramatic and verbal irony, foreshadowing and symbolism brings about a strong tale of revenge. Revenge is a feeling that has the ability to over come a person's grip on reality. The narrator, Montresor feels that he was greatly insulted by the unfortunate Fortunado. For this reason Montresor seeks revengeance on Fortunado for his heinous crime. It is know that Montresor's intentions are for Fortunato to die soon. The real reason Montresor is toasting is because he wants Fortunato to be with his to be with his ancestors in the catacombs. Montresor also calls Fortunato his dear friend. Fortunato thinks that Montresor is his friend, but Montresor is only seeking revenge. Montresor also says, "My dear Fortunato..." he calls Fortunato dear when he hates him with a passion. Once again, Montresor calls Fortunato a friend when he says, "My dear friend, no; I will not impose upon your good nature." This is also irony because Fortunato is really Montresor's enemy. Montresor also speaks of Fortunato's "good nature", but Fortunato insulted Montresor. This is why Montresor does not consider his a friend and has planned to kill him out of revenge. There are also many symbols in Poe's, The Cask of Amontillado, that are ironically used in his story of revenge. The first symbol is when Poe calls the character Fortunato, who is not really fortunate. • 6. Eye For An Eye Although, some citizens feel that an eye for an eye is a satisfactory way of determining one's punishment for a wrongdoing, others feel that a person is punishable in other ways than inflicting the pain the victim felt. If a person gets brutally bombarded, the person that hurt one should be punished, but not in the same way the victim was. Sometimes an eye for an eye is a terrific way of determining one's punishment; however, it can become very violent in some cases. People should not get revenge for the wrongdoings a person does upon them; nevertheless, the authorities or officials should punish them in a way that will get through to them. First and foremost, an eye for an eye is not a good system for determining punishments because ...show more content... An eye for an eye can hurt other people than just the person that has hurt someone. Not only the victim but their families can suffer from emotional and psychological problems for a lifetime. If someone murders a person remorselessly they should be punished; however, there are other ways to punish someone rather than inhumanely hurting them. If the person survives the non compulsory punishment from the authorities, they can and probably will suffer from things that they will never be able to forget. In contrast, if a person hurts someone or their family, they should be punished like the victim was. People should have a consciousness of what they are doing; nevertheless, they should be punished just like the victim and their family was. People should do unto others as you have them do unto you, so if a person is attacked, they should be attacked as effectively as the victim was. There are some heartless attackers out there, so people should be heartless right back and show them what they did and are doing is notoriously wrong. In conclusion, the an eye for an eye system should not be used in deciding punishments for hoodlums. Using this system can be terribly dangerous and can possibly result in death or injury. In the future, if this system is being used somewhere in the country, it should be stopped immediately before further damage is done to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
