Nurse Interview Essay
Master's–Prepared Nurse Interview Grand Canyon University Theoretical Foundation for Nursing
Roles and Practice NUR–502 May 23, 2012 Master's–Prepared Nurse Interview With the rapid
growth in the implementation and use of electronic medical records, there is an increase in how we
define the role of nurses and other team member's (Deese & Stien, 2004). Along with providing
optimal care, nurses are also responsible for interpreting and accurately documenting large amounts
of information. According to, (Ericksen, 2009) nursing informatics is defined as the integration of
nursing, its information, and information management with information processing and
communication technology to support the health of people worldwide. In this...show more content...
Present Position What she likes most about her job is that there aren't any typical days. Primarily
she is responsible for obtaining data such as: patient demographics, laboratory work, radiology, and
appointment utilization, from multiple data banks within the military hospital. Shadow her for a
week and you will see her in a variety of roles. Some days she may present a brief to the executive
team; another day you may find her mentoring a nurse on how to build a disease management
database ("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011). On another day she might be evaluating a
consumer–based web education program. The following is one example of what at typical project
for her may look like, Dr. A may request information on clinical outcomes on diabetes care for the
patients on their panel. After extracting the data, she then transforms it in to information that is
useful for example, one list may show all diabetic patients that are missing annual eye exams.
Another example may include helping a provider examine new cost–effective technologies like hand
held devices. Pearls of Wisdom In the interview the question about any advice she wanted to offer
was asked, with a big smile on her face, I am sure, she responded that the field is "wide open"
("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011) she continued on to say, if you are a self–starter it

Human resource management is part of the human resource approach, which is evidently geared to

Background Information
Lori Fulmer attended Eastern Tennessee State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Human Resource Management. Although Mrs. Fulmer has only been with Gordon Biersch
for about six months, she has had thirteen years experience in this field of work. She worked as
another human resource manager in a major manufacturing company in Johnson City. There, Mrs.
Fulmer was part of a professional association known as the Johnson City Human Resource
Association.
Role of Human Resources
The role of the human resource department at Gordon Biersch, is to maximize human potential in a
work friendly environment. If businesses are successful in acquiring this goal, employees can assure
themselves of maximizing their potential, either with Gordon Biersch or any other future
employment opportunity.
One of the main responsibilities of a human resource manager is the administering of any benefits
offered to the employees. "We have the duty of handling any safety that goes with worker's comp"
(Fulmer). When something happens in any of the restaurants, the human resource department is held
accountable.
Another role that this field requires is the maintaining of employee satisfaction. This includes fringe
benefits, retirement security, and counseling. Mrs. Fulmer feels that they are very successful in this
aspect because of the constant interaction of the CEO with

Reflective Essay On Interview Experience
During the interview I learned various things about how a person who once was dreaming of a
career worked hard to make that dream closer and closer to reality. I always thought about jobs as
boring, stressful, and tiring ways to make money to sustain one's life. But from this interview
experience I have learned that it isn't always and doesn't have to be that way. It is important for
someone to pick a job they want to do, and if they don't like it, that's okay as long as they are
willing to obtain that burning determination and motivation to study and develop different variety
of newly introduced skills to accomplish what they want to do for a living. I realized that
working in a job that you don't enjoy doing isn't necessarily bad. Different jobs require different
skills and knowledge in different fields/areas. A person who switched jobs multiple times (not
because they got fired) has a higher possibility of having more skills and experiences on different
types of work, which causes the gap between the doors of opportunity to widen, enabling that
person to choose from a wide variety of different job options that they want to do and be content
with. From a student's' point of view, just the thought of getting into a job that you dream of seems
difficult and challenging. When we look at what we want to do when we grow up, we see a long
road ahead of us with constant obstacles of traffic jam (you have to compete with different people
who are closer to the destination than you

Reflection And Reflection Of Interview
Reflection of interview I've had quite the learning experience over the last few weeks. I had a
chance to obtain valuable information and support from my principal. I learned so much about
the administration role and how difficult it can be. When I began my interview, I felt
overwhelmed and excited at the same time. My principal is also my mentor; she has been very
supportive of me pursuing my dreams to be in administrator. As I conducted my interview I
learned so much about the principal's role. I asked my principal a series of questions. The
questions were based on the Interstate School Leadership Licensure Consortium Standards
(ISLLC). My first question was based on educational programs. The educational programs at any
school need balance. While we live in a test results world, there needs to be a balance of focus. I
look at the type of student I want my school to produce and I surround myself with a faculty and
other staffs that not only share in the mission, but also will help every student succeed. In
addition, as an administrator, I need to provide my faculty and staff with the tools and resources
necessary to make everyone feel successful. Each year the school's mission and goals needs to
revisit and a plan of action needs to be executed in order to effectively manage and improve
educational programs. When asked about new teachers and veteran teachers, the principal expressed
that she is very supportive of mentoring new and veteran teachers. I think each new

that she over qualify for government assistance. The Medicare plan is expensive and would leave

services and providers as being good and because this is all she can afford that there are no
complaints except for she would like to go to doctors of her choice. Unfortunately, this is not an
advantage because no other doctors are willing to take on patients who do not have insurance
coverage. Grace (2012) states that she has never seen so many medical offices and that there are
hospitals in every neighborhood. My mother is not sure how these facilities make their money

Manager Interview Essay
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the
County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual
disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position
within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of
time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, "Maybe now I
come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words
to get my point across."
Ms. Geis feels that to be an effective leader one must demonstrate with a high level of confidence,

She replied with "Linear like Dr. Sprague (agency CEO)."
Ms. Geis feels that the communication skills that one must possess in order to make advancements in
management are that one must be an effective communicator, know the work environment, and the
people you work with.
Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is
expressive which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high
energy level. They can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are
systematic who tend to focus on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts.
The third type listed is sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are
good listeners and so concern for everyone's needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with
others. Lastly, the fourth communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue
short and are perceived as a multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her own
communication style and adjust the style according to the situation.
Grant and Taylor (2014) conducted a study which identified six essential communication traits that
can aid women to demonstrate confidence: (1) starting strong, (2) staying succinct, (3)
dimensionalizing content, (4) owning voice, (5) controlling movement, and (6) projecting warmth

Informational Interview As an Accounting major, I am very interested and have become fond of
learning about the varying business aspects within the sports industry. As a result, I decided to
conduct my interview with a professional that is associated with the business operations of
athletics. The person that I interviewed was Dawn Reynolds, the Senior Associate Athletic
Director for Business and Finance here at the University of Miami. After initially getting in
contact with Ms. Reynolds a few weeks ago, I was finally able to meet with her briefly and
conduct my interview on November 30, 2010, in room 261 in the Hecht Athletics Center. Just to

Interview With an Elderly Person Essays
Aging and being old was dominated by negative characteristics and conditions such as illness,
depression, and isolation for a long time (Eibach, Mock, & Courtney, 2010). At first glance the
terms "success" and "aging" seem to be in conflict to each other. When asking people about aging,
their answers have many facets that are also found in psychological definitions: successful aging is
seen as health, maturity and personal growth, self–acceptance, happiness, generativity, coping, and
acceptance of age–related limitations. In the psychological sense successful aging is also often seen
as the absence of age–associated characteristics (Strawbridge, Wallhagen, & Cohen, 2002). It seems
that successful aging means is not aging. Methods I...show more content...

question of the first. If there are any negative aspects she sees in life, this question will present the
details. 3. Where did you see yourself at this age? This question might explain any happiness or
unhappiness my aunt experiences. Her past ideas about her life could give clues as to why she is
happy or unhappy. 4. Is there something that surprised you about aging? This is a follow up to
question 3. 5. If you could go back, what changes would you make? This question gives my aunt
the opportunity to reflect on her past and think about what she would change if she could. 6. If
you could tell your younger self something, what would it be? I added this question during the
interview because of her answer to question 5. 7. You live alone. How do you manage your everyday
life? I was curious to hear how she is coping with her age–related limitations. 8. What positive
aspects do you see when getting older? This question is supposed to turn the conversation towards
a more positive experience. It is often easy to see what problems aging causes but it is equally
important to understand that aging can also have positive aspects. In case my aunt would answer
any of the prior questions negatively, this is the chance to end the interview on a better note. The

Personal Experience During an Interview Essay
When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to
another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer,
on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to
think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall
ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my
personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview.
Through reflecting on my previous interview I was able to pull apart both positives and negatives
aspects of my interview allowing myself time to look into the effects that the negative...show more

Whilst the open ended questions allowed deeper responses as spoken about above it was also
evident that these questions allowed Mary Doe to feel comfortable throughout the interview as she
was allowed to express her own open thought rather than having a written script of multiple smaller
closed ended questions. REF
The safe environment was carried through the whole interview. I concluded the interview by asking
Mary Doe if she had any concerns or further questions she would like to talk about. This continues
the safe environment feel, which I created throughout the whole interview.
Once finishing the interview I recall thinking that I had forgotten one major factor within the
interview, which was taking notes. This would have to be my only major weakness that I found I
had whilst interviewing Mary Doe. At the time I was so focused on eye contact, so it was really
easy for myself to just ask the questions and get lost in the answer whilst trying to figure out what
question to ask next. The lack of note taking in response to Mary Doe's answers left me forgetting
to listen one hundred percent as I was switching focus to what came next. When researching how I
can improve this skill there was a lot of positive feedback on how to strengthen this skill. One that I
shall be focusing on for future interviewing opportunities is to continually jot down small phrases as
spoken, any specific information that is useful

Personal Interview of a Friend Essay
I interview my friend, Tim F. Mr. F was born on January 08, 1976 Cleveland, Ohio to M. J. and J. F.
Mr. F. prefers to be addressed as Tim. He is mixed, Tim's mother is mixed with black and white and
his father is black. His dad left them when he was twelve years old but still came around every now

twenty–eight. He came from a middle class family, but his had more money than she leaded him

That was the last straw for her, Mr. F elaborate on how he tried to explained, and tell what all was
said but she did not want to hear it. She gave him a serve whipping and locked him in his
bedroom with only his bed to sleep in. No T.V., phone and games, nothing that he could or would
enjoy for some time playing with. That is when he felt that the only person at the time he could
ever trust betrayed him. That why he spoils Nicole, because he wants her to have a better life than
he did. But many times Nicole will ask for something and her father knows she does not need it but
he will give it to her anyway. Nicole knows that her father is a push over and personally that is why I
think that she wants to live with him other that her mother. When it comes to giving Nicole anything
she wants, she got to get it.
Mr. F likes to make up excuses on why Nicole needs unnecessary items. Once when going to the
store, Nicole wanted a very large pack of gum and I looked at him as if she did not need it and he
replied "it keeps her quiet at home." Nicole has enough things at home to keep her quiet, but it is
like he just can not say no to her. Nicole knows when she is with me; it is a limit on what she can
get. And if and when she gets an attitude she knows I will put her back in her place quick and fast.
Mr. F knows how I am about how he spoils Nicole.

Descriptive Essay On Interview
Location
For the three interviews, I went to a coffeeshop, an apartment, and an office. I decided on going to
a coffee shop for the first interview because it was a public place and to be honest, I really wanted
coffee that morning. It was a great place to feel relaxed and at home with the interview which I
believe translated into a better interview. I felt a lot more comfortable asking different questions and
the interviewee felt more comfortable with sharing information that might be considered more
personal. The only compliant I would have with the coffee shop was the audio recording quality
since it was a little noisy. The second location was the apartment of the lawyer. It was one of the
first times I met him so I was a little worried at first going into his home alone but he had a nice
dog and was super friendly. The home–like atmosphere made it a lot more comfortable on both ends
to talk and share information that might otherwise been held back. The audio quality was great
considering it was a lot more quiet of a place. You can really hear the difference in the quality. The
final interview was in a law office close to campus. I loved how close to campus it was which
made it easy to commute to. Doing interviews in the office made it seem a lot more professional.
While the interviewee was very comfortable in the office, I was not. He was sitting behind a giant
wooden desk which made things seem like he was in charge even though he was the interviewee. It

Mock Interview Reflection
I did my mock interview on Thursday at 10:30 with Hallie Rathbun a career staff member at the

answering the questions that I found on the website with my roommates and Karen Student United
Association club adviser to help prepare me for the interview. I tried to relax as much as I could
before the interview. After done with the interview, a staff member told me that I did really well in

what I am telling her. She said she like when I talked about my strengths and...show more content...
When I talked about the leadership role, I didn't give her specific things about what I do as a
leader. The hardest question that I received was "tell me about a time when you made a mistake
and what you did to correct it." I didn't prepare the answer for this question during practices so I
have to come up with the idea to answer this question. I talked about my experiences working with
the residents in the nursing home. There was a time when I forgot to fill out the information about
the residents who participate in playing bingo game and who don't. I talked to a staff member that I
forgot to fill out the information and asked her to double check the information when I give the
sheet back to her. I talked to the residents before the bingo game, filled out the information later, and
gave it to a staff member. I couldn't think of any other example to explain this question.
The overall experience of mock interview was great. It turned out really well than I thought. I thought
I might do badly when I answer the questions. I worried that I will make mistakes and couldn't
answer the questions during the interview. The feedbacks that I received from a staff member can
help me with my future interview preparation. Her feedbacks gave me more idea of how to answer
the questions, make it more professional, and persuade

Parent Interview
I chose to interview three family members in order to evaluate similarities and differences on
experiences on what it's like to be a parent. I believe that there is no right or wrong way to define
what family is, but the definition of family comes with a wide range of beliefs about parenting and
what it means to be "good parents" to their children. Every person is different and when it comes to
every parent, they have their own style of parenting due to the environments as well as experiences
within their environment. Throughout the interviews, I hope to gain knowledge and to be able to
understand what it's like to be a full time parent. Therefore, I have completed three interviews
with three separate members of my family that were all raised by the same parents in the same
household so it would be interesting to get an insight of how each individuals perspective as
parents are. Furthermore, I will present a summary of questions that I've asked, a summary of their
answers as well as an analysis of their way of parenting with some information that I've gathered
and compare it to what I've learned in class.
During the interview, the three participants were all given the same questions that were open–ended
in order to allow the participants to direct the conversations towards topics that were more important
to them. I definitely found distinctions between each one of their way of parenting. To

Cultural Interview Essay
CULTURAL INTERVIEW My cultural interview was with a coworker, 28 years of age and of
Hispanic descent. While conducting the interview I learned a lot about the Hispanic culture. Many
Hispanics like to be called Latino (a). Some do not like to be referred to as Mexican when they are
from other countries other than Mexico. Hispanics also use slang within their culture just like
African Americans. Within the culture the male is the dominant figure in the household. All the
decisions that affect the family go through the father. If there is no father in the house, the oldest son
fulfills that role. The older son may drop out of school so that they may assist the mother at the
house in the absence of the father. Many Hispanics...show more content...
Their family got together every opportunity they could. They had many traditional things they did
as a family such as a gathering of family every year for her grandmother's death, but as a
celebration. Every year on Christmas Eve her family would also draw together to exchange gifts
at different relative's houses. The interviewee stated this became a tradition for her family
because the married people in the family had to attend festivities at their spouses' relatives.
English and Spanish are both spoken in the Hispanics households. The majority of the older
members of the family only speak Spanish. My interviewee stated that she did not know how to
speak Spanish, but her mother did and fluently. She stated that her mother has always told her
that she needed to know Spanish because that was her heritage, but she never felt it very
necessary. The Hispanic culture celebrates the coming of age which is called a 15 or
Quinceaneras. The Quinceanernas is usually a big production for the girls. The girls have escorts
and dress in a formal type ballroom dress and have many of her friends and relatives there for the
celebration. My interviewee stated that she did not have a Quinceaneras because she did not really
get into it. She also stated that she got pregnant and did not want her parents to spend all that money
for the celebration. The boys on the other hand do not go all out with this type of celebration, but

My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through
places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war.
When I asked him if he experienced any combat he said; "yes, I experienced some combat. But
most of the time I spent in combat was in a tank. Not too much action there." A typical day in my
grandfathers' life at the time was to wake up at the crack of dawn and get ready for a full day of
combat, well at least for the ground troops that didn't have a tank to be protected by. Of course for
him, driving a tank was easier then being a ground troop. So that made things a little easier. He told

I asked him if he thought about the war very often now and he said; "so so. Not alot. Glad its

lost some friends in combat but he didn't talk much about that. He carried his sacred heart metal
with him everywhere he went. He would pray for the war to end at night before he fell asleep.
The friends he made in war are either dead or he no longer keeps in touch with them at all. There
wasn't much said about his worst and best experiences in the war. All he said on that was "to keep
alert and stay alive." The war did not change him. My grandfather was received with "lots of love."
He was going to go to Japan but he ended up going home early. He was in Minilla on V–J Day, the
day the war ended. This was a victory day celebration.
I asked him if he had been scarred either emotionally or physically from serving in the war and he

Interview with A Friend
When thinking of people I could possibly interview, and then deciding that most of them wouldn't
be very interesting, I decided to interview a friend of mine. N.H. At first glance he seems like any
other 15 year old but once you get to know him, you'll soon realize that, that isn't the case.
Firstly he's moved around and experienced more things then most people his age, even most
people in general, and has developed a unique personality because of this. N. was born in 1985, in
Finland but moved shortly afterwards to England and then again moved after only a few years to
Malawi in Africa. The reason for them moving was that his father's job bored him. He basically

N. hated England. He was used to the warm climate of Malawi, and in a way, missed his old life.
Seeing as both his mum and dad had to work, N. was sent to a boarding school which he despised.
"It was the worst time of my life, I simply did not like it," while shaking his head, but then he
looks up and starts smiling, "I did have a few good times with some friends I had made there, like
this one time we were playing softball and I whacked the ball into a window. We all blamed this
one Irish guy that we all hated." He had a smirk on his face while he said that, but it wasn't always
like that. "One thing I do regret though, was that I was a push over. Looking back, I could've been
a lot more assertive instead of taking the piss like I usually did back then." Fortunately, N. isn't like
that anymore. As I'm interviewing him, it's obvious he has a strong self–confidence.
Once again, N. moved with his parents but this time it was to Denmark. He's been living In
Copenhagen for the past 5 years and says he enjoys the "freedom" he's never had. "Growing up in
places like Africa and then going to a boarding school in England, you were never allowed to just

Leadership Interview Essay
To inspire and influence others, a leader must possess many skills and abilities. As motivational
speaker Peter Northouse, states, "a leader should be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be
bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not
arrogant" (Northouse, 2013) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a
considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs
to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
During my interview with Regina Martinez, BS RN and currently an Assistant Director of a home

Martinez stated that in her past and current position, her goal has been to always lead by example.
Martinez adamantly stated she would never ask an employee to do anything she herself was not

the book she references the most is Carl E. Larson and Frank M.J. LaFasto's Teamwork: What Must
Go Right/What Can Go Wrong. Through their research they explored the eight properties of
successful teams: a clear, elevating goal; a results–driven structure; competent team members;
unified commitment; collaborative climate; standards of excellence; external support and
recognition; and principled leadership. (Larson & LaFasto, 1989, p.8) Their insights into what
makes a team successful have been used by countless leaders as a model for efficient and effective

Interview with a Social Worker Essay
Background Information Captain Rob Geis agreed to be interviewed and share his experiences with
the next generation of Social Workers. Native to Ohio, he graduated High School in 1979, he
continued his education at Ohio State University from 1982–1986, completing his Masters in Social
Work. For the past 24 years, he has served as a Social Worker in theUnited States Army. In his
current position he is responsible for the Department of Social Work Services. Previous positions
have included: two assignments as a Division Social Worker, Medical Inpatient Social Worker,
Chief of Social Work, Division Chief of Mental Health, Clinical Director of Army Substance Abuse
Program, Combat Operation Stress Control Commander, and General Staff...show more content...
Social Work Identity Working in a position and fulfilling your duties are not always the same
concept. During the interview Captain Geis emphasized several times that "the most important
part of this job was the soldier who was supported" (2012). In this effect he embodied the NASW
values of service, integrity, human relationships, and worth of the person. These assignments
gave him the opportunity to care and direct soldiers, fulfilling both roles as a Social Worker and
Officer. As an Army Officer the lines between Social Worker and Officer may have been blurred
together but each were an important part of whom he is. A Social Work Officer is not just a
Social Worker or an Officer. It is the embodiment of a leader and caregiver; an individual whose
career is dedicated to the taking care of soldiers, their families, and the Army itself. This concept
may tear at the ideology of the NASW, as several of the ethical guidelines may be skewed as the
requirements of the Army culture differ from the civilian counterpart (Tallant & Ryberg, 1999).
Principally, a Social Worker strives to take care of the client at all times (National Association of
Social Workers, 2008). A major influence and difference for Army Social Workers is the need to
take care of the organization primarily. A Social Work Officer will do everything they

Preparing for an Interview Essay
Interviewing is a selling situation. It involves the exchange of information and building of personal
chemistry. It's not only what you say that's important but how you say it. There are seven key things
you can do to build a positive rapport.
Research can help build chemistry
The first step for building a rapport is to research the company in advance. If you've ever met
someone who knew a lot about you, it kind of takes you by surprise, doesn't it? It is a great way to
make a positive first impression.
A friend of mine, has built a consulting business on the fact that he does research ahead of time. His
clients tell him that he wins their business because he knows a lot more about them than anyone
else. So make it your...show more content...
Build chemistry by paying sincere compliments
Before the interview, read or talk to people about the company and uncover some good things to say.
Somewhere in those first few minutes, find the opportunity to pay a real compliment.
You can compliment their facilities, people, products, advertising, public relations or anything else.
What ever you do, be specific. Don't just say that people you know are impressed by the product.
Talk about why they are impressed. Maybe it's that new product they added this year, or the designs
they have adapted.
By giving details, you show that you have given it some thought and that your complement is not
just empty flattery.
Build chemistry in the way you answer questions
The way you answer questions has more to do with building positive chemistry than with what you
say. He could use the standard...tell me about yourself and you could begin by talking about the
kind of person you, but that may not be what the interviewer is interested in. You could say, "Mr.
Jones, I'd be happy to tell you about myself, and I suppose you are most interested in my work
experience."
When you self–qualify like that, you give the interviewer plenty of opportunity to respond, and to
direct the conversation toward some other area, if that's not what he or she is really interested in.
Answer questions with good, action–oriented stories. If you fail to tell a story,

How To Write A Interview Essay

  • 1. Nurse Interview Essay Master's–Prepared Nurse Interview Grand Canyon University Theoretical Foundation for Nursing Roles and Practice NUR–502 May 23, 2012 Master's–Prepared Nurse Interview With the rapid growth in the implementation and use of electronic medical records, there is an increase in how we define the role of nurses and other team member's (Deese & Stien, 2004). Along with providing optimal care, nurses are also responsible for interpreting and accurately documenting large amounts of information. According to, (Ericksen, 2009) nursing informatics is defined as the integration of nursing, its information, and information management with information processing and communication technology to support the health of people worldwide. Primarily she is responsible for obtaining data such as: patient demographics, laboratory work, radiology, and appointment utilization, from multiple data banks within the military hospital. Shadow her for a week and you will see her in a variety of roles. Some days she may present a brief to the executive team; another day you may find her mentoring a nurse on how to build a disease management database ("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011). On another day she might be evaluating a consumer–based web education program. The following is one example of what at typical project for her may look like, Dr. A may request information on clinical outcomes on diabetes care for the patients on their panel. After extracting the data, she then transforms it in to information that is useful for example, one list may show all diabetic patients that are missing annual eye exams. Another example may include helping a provider examine new cost–effective technologies like hand held devices. Pearls of Wisdom In the interview the question about any advice she wanted to offer was asked, with a big smile on her face, I am sure, she responded that the field is "wide open" ("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011) she continued on to say, if you are a self–starter it Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Reflective Essay On Interview Experience During the interview I learned various things about how a person who once was dreaming of a career worked hard to make that dream closer and closer to reality. I always thought about jobs as boring, stressful, and tiring ways to make money to sustain one's life. But from this interview experience I have learned that it isn't always and doesn't have to be that way. It is important for someone to pick a job they want to do, and if they don't like it, that's okay as long as they are willing to obtain that burning determination and motivation to study and develop different variety of newly introduced skills to accomplish what they want to do for a living. I realized that working in a job that you don't enjoy doing isn't necessarily bad. Different jobs require different skills and knowledge in different fields/areas. A person who switched jobs multiple times (not because they got fired) has a higher possibility of having more skills and experiences on different types of work, which causes the gap between the doors of opportunity to widen, enabling that person to choose from a wide variety of different job options that they want to do and be content with. From a student's' point of view, just the thought of getting into a job that you dream of seems difficult and challenging. When we look at what we want to do when we grow up, we see a long road ahead of us with constant obstacles of traffic jam (you have to compete with different people who are closer to the destination than you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflection And Reflection Of Interview Reflection of interview I've had quite the learning experience over the last few weeks. I had a chance to obtain valuable information and support from my principal. I learned so much about the administration role and how difficult it can be. When I began my interview, I felt overwhelmed and excited at the same time. My principal is also my mentor; she has been very supportive of me pursuing my dreams to be in administrator. As I conducted my interview I learned so much about the principal's role. I asked my principal a series of questions. The questions were based on the Interstate School Leadership Licensure Consortium Standards (ISLLC). My first question was based on educational programs. The educational programs at any school need balance. While we live in a test results world, there needs to be a balance of focus. I look at the type of student I want my school to produce and I surround myself with a faculty and other staffs that not only share in the mission, but also will help every student succeed. In addition, as an administrator, I need to provide my faculty and staff with the tools and resources necessary to make everyone feel successful. Each year the school's mission and goals needs to revisit and a plan of action needs to be executed in order to effectively manage and improve educational programs. When asked about new teachers and veteran teachers, the principal expressed that she is very supportive of mentoring new and veteran teachers. I think each new Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Interview With an Elderly Person Essays Aging and being old was dominated by negative characteristics and conditions such as illness, depression, and isolation for a long time (Eibach, Mock, & Courtney, 2010). At first glance the terms "success" and "aging" seem to be in conflict to each other. When asking people about aging, their answers have many facets that are also found in psychological definitions: successful aging is seen as health, maturity and personal growth, self–acceptance, happiness, generativity, coping, and acceptance of age–related limitations. In the psychological sense successful aging is also often seen as the absence of age–associated characteristics (Strawbridge, Wallhagen, & Cohen, 2002). I was curious to hear how she is coping with her age–related limitations. 8. What positive aspects do you see when getting older? This question is supposed to turn the conversation towards a more positive experience. It is often easy to see what problems aging causes but it is equally important to understand that aging can also have positive aspects. In case my aunt would answer any of the prior questions negatively, this is the chance to end the interview on a better note. The answers to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Personal Experience During an Interview Essay When I think of the word interview I think of it as a series of questions asked from one person to another to seek information. In my previous assessment we were asked to interview a fellow peer, on their personal experience of QIBT so far this year. We were not given any question, but made to think of our own. As we were interviewing our peer another peer was marking us on our overall ability to interview. This piece of reflective writing will be an explanation of what I thought my personal strengths and weaknesses were throughout my interview. Through reflecting on my previous interview I was able to pull apart both positives and negatives aspects of my interview allowing myself time to look into the effects that the negative...show more content... Whilst the open ended questions allowed deeper responses as spoken about above it was also evident that these questions allowed Mary Doe to feel comfortable throughout the interview as she was allowed to express her own open thought rather than having a written script of multiple smaller closed ended questions. REF The safe environment was carried through the whole interview. I concluded the interview by asking Mary Doe if she had any concerns or further questions she would like to talk about. This continues the safe environment feel, which I created throughout the whole interview. Once finishing the interview I recall thinking that I had forgotten one major factor within the interview, which was taking notes. This would have to be my only major weakness that I found I had whilst interviewing Mary Doe. At the time I was so focused on eye contact, so it was really easy for myself to just ask the questions and get lost in the answer whilst trying to figure out what question to ask next. The lack of note taking in response to Mary Doe's answers left me forgetting to listen one hundred percent as I was switching focus to what came next. When researching how I can improve this skill there was a lot of positive feedback on how to strengthen this skill. One that I shall be focusing on for future interviewing opportunities is to continually jot down small phrases as spoken, any specific information that is useful Get more content on HelpWriting.net

That is when he felt that the only person at the time he could ever trust betrayed him. That why he spoils Nicole, because he wants her to have a better life than he did. But many times Nicole will ask for something and her father knows she does not need it but he will give it to her anyway. Nicole knows that her father is a push over and personally that is why I think that she wants to live with him other that her mother. When it comes to giving Nicole anything she wants, she got to get it. Mr. F likes to make up excuses on why Nicole needs unnecessary items. Once when going to the store, Nicole wanted a very large pack of gum and I looked at him as if she did not need it and he replied "it keeps her quiet at home." Nicole has enough things at home to keep her quiet, but it is like he just can not say no to her. Nicole knows when she is with me; it is a limit on what she can get. And if and when she gets an attitude she knows I will put her back in her place quick and fast. Mr. F knows how I am about how he spoils Nicole. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Descriptive Essay On Interview Location For the three interviews, I went to a coffeeshop, an apartment, and an office. I decided on going to a coffee shop for the first interview because it was a public place and to be honest, I really wanted coffee that morning. It was a great place to feel relaxed and at home with the interview which I believe translated into a better interview. I felt a lot more comfortable asking different questions and the interviewee felt more comfortable with sharing information that might be considered more personal. The only compliant I would have with the coffee shop was the audio recording quality since it was a little noisy. The second location was the apartment of the lawyer. It was one of the first times I met him so I was a little worried at first going into his home alone but he had a nice dog and was super friendly. The home–like atmosphere made it a lot more comfortable on both ends to talk and share information that might otherwise been held back. The audio quality was great considering it was a lot more quiet of a place. You can really hear the difference in the quality. The final interview was in a law office close to campus. I loved how close to campus it was which made it easy to commute to. Doing interviews in the office made it seem a lot more professional. While the interviewee was very comfortable in the office, I was not. He was sitting behind a giant wooden desk which made things seem like he was in charge even though he was the interviewee. • 13. Mock Interview Reflection I did my mock interview on Thursday at 10:30 with Hallie Rathbun a career staff member at the career services center. I was very nervous because I have never done it before. I practiced answering the questions that I found on the website with my roommates and Karen Student United Association club adviser to help prepare me for the interview. I tried to relax as much as I could before the interview. After done with the interview, a staff member told me that I did really well in telling a story about myself. I didn't prepare the answer for this question during practices so I have to come up with the idea to answer this question. I talked about my experiences working with the residents in the nursing home. There was a time when I forgot to fill out the information about the residents who participate in playing bingo game and who don't. I talked to a staff member that I forgot to fill out the information and asked her to double check the information when I give the sheet back to her. I talked to the residents before the bingo game, filled out the information later, and gave it to a staff member. I couldn't think of any other example to explain this question. The overall experience of mock interview was great. It turned out really well than I thought. I thought I might do badly when I answer the questions. I worried that I will make mistakes and couldn't answer the questions during the interview. The feedbacks that I received from a staff member can help me with my future interview preparation. • 14. Interview With A Parent Interview Essay Malyvanh Chanthavong Professor Valentine PSY 122–81 05 October 2016 Parent Interview I chose to interview three family members in order to evaluate similarities and differences on experiences on what it's like to be a parent. I believe that there is no right or wrong way to define what family is, but the definition of family comes with a wide range of beliefs about parenting and what it means to be "good parents" to their children. Every person is different and when it comes to every parent, they have their own style of parenting due to the environments as well as experiences within their environment. Throughout the interviews, I hope to gain knowledge and to be able to understand what it's like to be a full time parent. Therefore, I have completed three interviews with three separate members of my family that were all raised by the same parents in the same household so it would be interesting to get an insight of how each individuals perspective as parents are. Furthermore, I will present a summary of questions that I've asked, a summary of their answers as well as an analysis of their way of parenting with some information that I've gathered and compare it to what I've learned in class. During the interview, the three participants were all given the same questions that were open–ended in order to allow the participants to direct the conversations towards topics that were more important to them. I definitely found distinctions between each one of their way of parenting. To Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Cultural Interview Essay CULTURAL INTERVIEW My cultural interview was with a coworker, 28 years of age and of Hispanic descent. While conducting the interview I learned a lot about the Hispanic culture. Many Hispanics like to be called Latino (a). Some do not like to be referred to as Mexican when they are from other countries other than Mexico. Hispanics also use slang within their culture just like African Americans. Within the culture the male is the dominant figure in the household. All the decisions that affect the family go through the father. If there is no father in the house, the oldest son fulfills that role. The older son may drop out of school so that they may assist the mother at the house in the absence of the father. They had many traditional things they did as a family such as a gathering of family every year for her grandmother's death, but as a celebration. Every year on Christmas Eve her family would also draw together to exchange gifts at different relative's houses. The interviewee stated this became a tradition for her family because the married people in the family had to attend festivities at their spouses' relatives. English and Spanish are both spoken in the Hispanics households. The majority of the older members of the family only speak Spanish. My interviewee stated that she did not know how to speak Spanish, but her mother did and fluently. She stated that her mother has always told her that she needed to know Spanish because that was her heritage, but she never felt it very necessary. The Hispanic culture celebrates the coming of age which is called a 15 or Quinceaneras. The Quinceanernas is usually a big production for the girls. The girls have escorts and dress in a formal type ballroom dress and have many of her friends and relatives there for the celebration. My interviewee stated that she did not have a Quinceaneras because she did not really get into it. She also stated that she got pregnant and did not want her parents to spend all that money for the celebration. The boys on the other hand do not go all out with this type of celebration, but instead celebrate at their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Veteran interview Essay Veteran Interview My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war. When I asked him if he experienced any combat he said; "yes, I experienced some combat. But most of the time I spent in combat was in a tank. Not too much action there." A typical day in my grandfathers' life at the time was to wake up at the crack of dawn and get ready for a full day of combat, well at least for the ground troops that didn't have a tank to be protected by. Of course for him, driving a tank was easier then being a ground troop. So that made things a little easier. He told me every day the main thing he did, and I quote, "kep my...show more content... Glad its over." When I asked him if he lost any friends or people he served with in the war he said that he lost some friends in combat but he didn't talk much about that. He carried his sacred heart metal with him everywhere he went. He would pray for the war to end at night before he fell asleep. The friends he made in war are either dead or he no longer keeps in touch with them at all. There wasn't much said about his worst and best experiences in the war. All he said on that was "to keep alert and stay alive." The war did not change him. My grandfather was received with "lots of love." He was going to go to Japan but he ended up going home early. He was in Minilla on V–J Day, the day the war ended. This was a victory day celebration. I asked him if he had been scarred either emotionally or physically from serving in the war and he said; "yes, both especially when you get surrounded. • 17. Essay on Interview With a Friend Interview with A Friend When thinking of people I could possibly interview, and then deciding that most of them wouldn't be very interesting, I decided to interview a friend of mine. N.H. At first glance he seems like any other 15 year old but once you get to know him, you'll soon realize that, that isn't the case. Firstly he's moved around and experienced more things then most people his age, even most people in general, and has developed a unique personality because of this. "It was the worst time of my life, I simply did not like it," while shaking his head, but then he looks up and starts smiling, "I did have a few good times with some friends I had made there, like this one time we were playing softball and I whacked the ball into a window. We all blamed this one Irish guy that we all hated." He had a smirk on his face while he said that, but it wasn't always like that. "One thing I do regret though, was that I was a push over. Looking back, I could've been a lot more assertive instead of taking the piss like I usually did back then." Fortunately, N. isn't like that anymore. As I'm interviewing him, it's obvious he has a strong self–confidence. Once again, N. moved with his parents but this time it was to Denmark. He's been living In Copenhagen for the past 5 years and says he enjoys the "freedom" he's never had. • 18. Leadership Interview Essay To inspire and influence others, a leader must possess many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Peter Northouse, states, "a leader should be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant" (Northouse, 2013) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading. The success the company now enjoys is credited to Martinez's leadership, motivation, caring, and attention to detail. Delivering the medical care to a patient, in the comfort of their own home, by professional, caring medical staff is a much needed service in rural northeast Colorado. Martinez stated that in her past and current position, her goal has been to always lead by example. Martinez adamantly stated she would never ask an employee to do anything she herself was not willing to do. She stated she did not follow a particular leadership style, but has read several leadership and management books, articles and studies to become more effective. Martinez stated the book she references the most is Carl E. Larson and Frank M.J. LaFasto's Teamwork: What Must Go Right/What Can Go Wrong. Through their research they explored the eight properties of successful teams: a clear, elevating goal; a results–driven structure; competent team members; unified commitment; collaborative climate; standards of excellence; external support and recognition; and principled leadership. (Larson & LaFasto, 1989, p.8) Their insights into what makes a team successful have been used by countless leaders as a model for efficient and effective leadership. Social Work Identity Working in a position and fulfilling your duties are not always the same concept. During the interview Captain Geis emphasized several times that "the most important part of this job was the soldier who was supported" (2012). In this effect he embodied the NASW values of service, integrity, human relationships, and worth of the person. These assignments gave him the opportunity to care and direct soldiers, fulfilling both roles as a Social Worker and Officer. As an Army Officer the lines between Social Worker and Officer may have been blurred together but each were an important part of whom he is. A Social Work Officer is not just a Social Worker or an Officer. It is the embodiment of a leader and caregiver; an individual whose career is dedicated to the taking care of soldiers, their families, and the Army itself. This concept may tear at the ideology of the NASW, as several of the ethical guidelines may be skewed as the requirements of the Army culture differ from the civilian counterpart (Tallant & Ryberg, 1999). Principally, a Social Worker strives to take care of the client at all times (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). A major influence and difference for Army Social Workers is the need to take care of the organization primarily. A Social Work Officer will do everything they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Preparing for an Interview Essay Interviewing is a selling situation. It involves the exchange of information and building of personal chemistry. It's not only what you say that's important but how you say it. There are seven key things you can do to build a positive rapport. Research can help build chemistry The first step for building a rapport is to research the company in advance. If you've ever met someone who knew a lot about you, it kind of takes you by surprise, doesn't it? It is a great way to make a positive first impression. A friend of mine, has built a consulting business on the fact that he does research ahead of time. Build chemistry by paying sincere compliments Before the interview, read or talk to people about the company and uncover some good things to say. Somewhere in those first few minutes, find the opportunity to pay a real compliment. You can compliment their facilities, people, products, advertising, public relations or anything else. What ever you do, be specific. Don't just say that people you know are impressed by the product. Talk about why they are impressed. Maybe it's that new product they added this year, or the designs they have adapted. By giving details, you show that you have given it some thought and that your complement is not just empty flattery. Build chemistry in the way you answer questions The way you answer questions has more to do with building positive chemistry than with what you say. He could use the standard...tell me about yourself and you could begin by talking about the kind of person you, but that may not be what the interviewer is interested in. You could say, "Mr. Jones, I'd be happy to tell you about myself, and I suppose you are most interested in my work experience." When you self–qualify like that, you give the interviewer plenty of opportunity to respond, and to direct the conversation toward some other area, if that's not what he or she is really interested in. Answer questions with good, action–oriented stories. If you fail to tell a story,
