Laura asks…
Where to do a diving course in thailand?
so I want to do the open water course, it will be my first time. I want somehwere that is cheap, in
nice area and has good instructors. But also I want to do it somewhere that is easy to get to. I
am staying in Bangkok and going to Chang Ma. I might get a flight to Phuket or Krabi as
AirAsia goes there then go to Bangkok afterwards, or I could go to a different place with
beaches and scuba if you think a different place is better, just suggest a way to get there and to
bangkok after, I will be coming from Kuala Lumpur.
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Pattaya area might be less expensive because it is so cheap to get to there from Bangkok and
the hotels are cheaper! You don’t have to pay for a plane ride to Phuket too!
From Bangkok to Pattaya will cost around 115 baht from the Ekamai bus station in Bangkok.

Air Asia Documents?
I was about to purchase tickets on airasia.com website for July 3, 2008 from Singapore to
Thailand but then a message appeared. It says “Please be reminded that you will be
responsible for obtaining all entry, exit, health and other documents. If you are unsure of the
requirements, we recommend that you contact the consulate/embassy of your desired
destination before purchasing your seat. Thank you.”
What does that mean I have to do? I am from the United States.
I won’t be staying for over 30 days. Do I need any vaccines to enter Thailand or Singapore?
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
It just means you’re responsible for any visas, valid passports and any other documents that
may be required to enter Thailand. As an American who lives in Thailand I can tell you that you
don’t need anything other than a valid passport that doesn’t expire for at least six months past
your intended stay. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs website does state that you must have
proof of onward travel and sufficient funds for the length of your stay, but on over 50 entries into
Thailand I have never once been asked to show either. US passport holders are given a 30 day
visa exemption, all you really need is a valid passport. Here’s the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
website, you can see for yourself:

Why so many tourist give Msia a skip?
Approx 25 years ago i remembered the PATA programme…the tourist came, but just pass by
Msia going into Thailand from Spore
I have stayed 7 years in Spore, i saw they have so many tourists, I stayed in Bangkok for 3
years, every month i travelled back to Penang most of the time i took a train and sometime by
Air Asia…travelling alone i talked a lot to tourists, you know be a busybody and free travel
adviser to kill time especially when i take a train it was 22 hrs, majority of the tourist travel from
Bangkok to Penang so that they can extend their visa in Thailand, some travel to KL for a short
trip then off to Spore…they are using Msia just for transit
Now Airasia bring Australian to KL directly, in Jan i went to SiemReap via LCCT, I met a group
of Australians and we travelled together and stayed in the same hotel…all of them just use KL as
a transit, the most only one night in KL, they went to Siem Reap, PhenomPenh then Bangkok,
Spore then go home……why tourists skip Msia? I asked them, they just say Msia is not
interesting….if not for AirAsia they wouldn’t be here at all…..
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Probably because there isn’t much info given by our tourism ministry. When you reach
Singapore/Thailand, the first thing you’ll see is lots and lots of pamplets, maps, etc to guide
tourists around. You can even get them in shopping malls.
In KL, even the so called tourist’s information booth is empty. A waste of money to build it.
Who’s going to come??
Next, if you search for travel guide from the internet, there are hardly any for Malaysia, but just
search for Thailand, you get a whole lot of information.

5. Even if the information of Malaysia is there, they are not detailed enough, and this include
websites created by the ministry.
Malaysia is very interesting, but we are just not promoting them!
Almost every Singaporean speak English. Foreigners come here and ask locals something, they
shy away answering, “tak tahu, tak tahu”. The people know their places around very well. Here,
ask me to drive to PJ from KLCC also I tak tahu.
The signboards are horrible, drivers are crazy, and most importantly:-
things that you can get cheap and abundant in Thailand is not available in Malaysia.

Air Asia flights cancelled for tomorrow morning, we have
connecting flights… What to do?!?
Hi guys
Huge problem. Me and my husband are currently in Vietnam on a visa run holiday. We are due
to fly back to Bangkok tomorrow morning at 7.45am and 30minutes ago I received a text
message from AirAsia to say the flight has been cancelled, sorry for any inconvenience. Well
its a fricking huge inconvenience as we have to re-enter Thailand before the 22nd May to
receive the last 3 months on our non immigrant O Visas. They sent me a phone number to call
but say there working hours are 8am to 9pm and we are supposed to be on the plane by then. I
have looked online for similar stories as the AirAsia site says nothing that I can find to do with
cancelled flights and it seems people have been forced into paying for a later flight on the same
day at almost triple the price and not offered a refund or any credit for this flight. We are also
meant to be flying back to Koh Samui (flight booked for 7.45pm tomorrow night) and so this
5/6
6. flight is going to be wasted as well (The only other flight available tomorrow on their website
does not get into BKK until 7.25pm). Please please can someone tell us what to do, we are sat
in our hotel room in Saigon now completely panicking. Please help somebody please!
Kaki Cuti Cuti Malaysia answers:
Call the Air Asia and tell them what is going on. Maybe they can re-arrange you to fly
somewhere else and still get you into Bangkok. However if the airport is closed, then you are
out of luck. If the airline still cannot do anything, see if you can go to the Thai embassy or
consulate for assistance.
