Mandy asks…
What is the secret to ovulation calendar dates for conceiving?
what is the secret with ovulation dates for conceiving, are you supposed to have sex on all days
of fertility, or only the maximum fertility days, or a day before actual fertility, orrrrr what is the
BEST thing to do to have best chance of conceiving? OR is this a myth??
also… i heard the end of ovulation is best for a boy, so would that be the last few days of the
fertility dates, say your fertile 23-27, what dates would be best for that gender yet where you
dont miss fertility?
“or is this a myth” i was referring to the boy gender thing.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
For best chances of conceiving, you should have sex on the first 3 days before you ovulate in
case you ovulate early, the day you ovulate and then the day after in case you ovulate late.
I think that really, that is just a myth but some people do say that it is true. I concieved on the
last day of my fertile days and i had a little girl. It’s just chance whether you get a boy or a girl i
think!
Good luck!:-)

help me with some fertile questions!?

i had sex on the 2/1 and 2/4 it says my 1st fertile day is monday 2/6- 2/12
but i was already experiencing (cramping, backaches, headaches, tiredness, nausea low
appetite) since monday. i checked my cervix weds it was mid way soft open and wet the
discharge creamy.
he did ejaculate that day before we had sex( not sure if he urinated right after or not) what do
you think??? we do plan to have sex saturday that’s the day before ovulation.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
What is your question? It’s hard to figure out. Are you trying to become pregnant or avoid
pregnancy?
Have you ever experienced (cramping, backaches, headaches, tiredness, nausea low appetite)
when you weren’t pregnant? Lets say around the time of your Period? Those could be
unrelated, couldn’t they?
It doesn’t matter if he ejaculated before you had sex, it certainly doesn’t matter that he urinated
after he ejaculated and before you had sex. If you are having unprotected sex, you could
become pregnant.
Even if you are using birth control, when you engage in intercourse you do have a chance of
getting pregnant. Even if a man ejaculates, urinates, ejaculates again, it only takes ONE viable
sperm to get pregnant… We plan on having sex the day before ovulation? This sounds like you
3/7
4. are trying to avoid getting pregnant. Do you know how long sperm remains alive?
I find your question quite confusing. Further details may help. I certainly hope you are not
having unprotected sex and hoping that you don’t get pregnant. If that is the case, it’s only a
matter of time before you do become pregnant.

5. Okay so their are many different things to do to find out if you are ovulating.
1- is doing the ovulation calendar.
2- is watch for mucus- egg white stringy = ovulation
3- is buy an ovulation kit. They cost about 40 dollars you urinate on it just like a hpt every
morning and it will tell you yes you are or no you are not.
4- is to feel for your cervix, i have found this to be the best! If you use your middle finger to
insert into your vagina you should feel a “penis” like organ that is your cervix. If it is low and you
can not put the tip of your finger in it then you are not ovulating. If you can hardly reach and you
can get the tip of your finger in it then YOU ARE!! make sure to clean your hands ( of course
haha) to not introduce new bacteria because this could cause infection. I really hope this helps
you! I had a miscarriage last year and it was upsetting, i cant wait to hold that test and see a big
PREGNANT!!!
oh also when you feel for your cervix if it feels like the tip of your nose then its closed. It if feels
like your lip then you are.
Also when i did my research it said that the semen can live from 3-5 days and that if you are
your partner are having sex every day or every other day he could start shooting blanks.
Carol asks…
I finally ovulated?
I have a 27 day cycle and accoring to my calendar I should have ovulated on the 13th day of
my cycle. I am using the CB Easy fertility monitor. Last month I ovulated right on time, we
BD’d but with little success on conceiving. So we tried again this month but I didn’t ovulate until
today, day 16. We BD on day 13-(Thursday) We are hoping to conveive a girl, but boy or girl we
will be thrilled with a baby. I hope my chances of conceiving this month are still favorable.
Because I ovulated later than expected, My LMP was 9/1 and my projected day of next period is
9/28- due to late ovulation will that change?
We have TTC for 9 months
5/7
6. We already have 2 yr old son
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
YES. Ovulation dictates the day your period starts. So if you ovulate late, your period will come
later. If you ovulate early, your period will come sooner. Your period will now be due about two
weeks from Day 16. You may be looking at a 30-day cycle this time.
Also, you want to have sex during your ENTIRE fertile window, which includes 3 days before
ovulation, the day of ovulation, and the day after ovulation. For this cycle that would have meant
daily sex on CD 13, CD14, CD15, CD 16 (ovulation day!), and CD 17. If you had kept to that
schedule your chances would have been pretty good for this cycle. I’m not saying pregnancy
isn’t possible this time, but chances aren’t as high as they could have been.
Good luck.
Mary asks…
Trying to conceive on her 9th day of menstrual cycle?
I want to find out about a pregnancy. If a woman of 21 years old is on her 9th day of her
menstrual cycle (Day 1 being the first day she has her menstruation). And her menstrual cycles
vary from 25 to 29 days. How likely is she to get pregnant by trying to conceive with her
husband on Day9? I would like to know a % probability. I realize there are other factors like the
man’s fertility the woman’s fertility, etc. but with only this information is it even remotely
6/7
7. possible to get pregnant, and if so what is the probability?
I would really like a number such as “the Rhythm Method gives a chance of conception is 9%,
but the calendar method is 5% in a given year.” A real number like 9% or 5% is better than just
saying “these methods work a whole lot, but anything can happen, nobody knows, maybe one
day somebody will invent the study of biology. Until then just don’t kiss a boy while wearing a
bathing suit.”
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
A healthy woman in her 20?s (with a healthy partner) only has about about a 15-25% chance of
conceiving each month, if a woman is on fertility drugs (such as Clomid) this goes up to about
30%.
The normal luteal phase (time between ovulation and period) is 10 – 16 days, meaning:
28 – 16 = 12
28 – 10 = 18
You could ovulate (on a 28 day cycle) anywhere from CD 12 to CD 18. Any shorter than that
and you may have a LPD (luteal phase defect) meaning your luteal phase (at this point) is not
long enough for a pregnancy to implant and grow before your next cycle washes it out. Of
course if your period is longer or shorter, ovulation cycle day will be adjusted. Like is your cycle
is 29 days long, you could ovulate anywhere from CD 13 – CD 19 etc.
With a woman that has a 25 day cycle, who’s luteal phase is 16 days she could quite possibly
ovulate and conceive on day 9 of her cycle. Sperm can live UP TO five days inside the vagina
(though typically it’s 3 days).
