Editor's Notes
Note: all WHELF includes all of Welsh HE institutions and the National Library of Wales. This project also includes the NHS in Wales libraries are clients of Cardiff University
WHELF strategy & workplan – identifies these key areas, and the Shared LMS is seen as underpinning so much of the activity it has a has an individual strand
Strong tradition of consortial LMS in North America and Canada, less so in Europe and almost non-existent in the UK to now. We now have a growing trend across Europe and the start of a similar one in the UK. Major international interest in the WHELF work
The vision – emphasis on the bolded statements
Participating Group:
Aberystwyth University
Bangor University
Cardiff University (and NHS Libraries in Wales)
Cardiff Metropolitan University
Glyndwr University
National Library of Wales
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
Swansea University
University of South Wales
University of Wales Trinity St David
Importance of next generation – being able to move beyond our print heritage and have the tools to become ‘more than just a library’
Procurement process – not a simple thing to do. Time consuming done individually, so why not go for it together?
