In that slides providing knowledge about the animal cruelty act, 1960 for the basic knowledge to the pharmacy students regarding subject Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence.
2. The main object of this act is to
prevent the unnecessary pain
on animals as well as to
prevent cruelty to animals.

3. THIS BOARD IS ESTABLISHED BY
CENTRAL GOVERNMENT
This board consist of various members.
1 member nominated as a chairman & othersVice-chairman by the
central government.
Central government may appoint secretary of the board.
AIM:
To promote animal welfare generally.
To protect animals from the unnecessary pain or
suffering in particulars.

4. To advice the Cent.Govt. regarding the
amendments to be undertaken in this Act from
time to time & keep the law in force to prevent the
cruelty to animals.
To suggest the Govt. any improvements in the
design of vehicle so as to lessen the burden.
To advise the Cent.Govt on making the rules with
the object of preventing unnecessary pain to
animals when they are being transported or being
used as performing animals.

5. To take the steps for amelioration of animals by
providing the facility of sheds, water etc along with
veterinary assistance.
To advice the Govt. on medical care & attention to
be provided in animal hospitals.
To encourage formation of rescue homes, animals
shelters etc for old animals & birds.
To impart educations relating to the human
treatments of animals by means of lectures, books,
posters etc.

6. The animals used for experiments should not suffer
any unnecessary pains or harms.
For that, Central Govt constitute a committee.
2 members each of the: - ICMR, -ICAR, -CSIR
Nominated by Central Govt:
- 2 members from universities of medical & veterinary
degrees nominated by Centr.Govt.
- 1 members from Lok & Rajya sabha to be elected by
the Houses respectively.
- 5 non-official members from the persons actively
engaged in the promotion of animal welfare by the
Centr.Govt.

7. That where the experiments are performed in any institution the
person incharge of the institution is responsible.
That as possible the experiments on animals are performed under
the influence of anaesthetic.
That the animals, during the experiments under the influence of
anaesthetic are so injured that they can’t be recovered without
serious pain, are to be destroyed while still unconcious.
If, other teaching devices like books, models, films are sufficient
in colleges, hospitals then experiments on animals are avoided.
If the, same results can be obtained from the small laboratory
animals then large animals are avoided.
That the animals used for experimentation are properly looked
after before & after the experiments.
That the proper records regarding experimentation on animals
are maintained.

8. Treating animals cruelly is punishable with fine not less
than Rs.10/- which may extend to Rs.50/- on first
conviction.
In case subsequent conviction within three years, it is
punishable with fine not less than Rs.25/- & may extended
to Rs.100/-.
Performing the operation like Phooka or doom dev or any
other operation to improve lactaion, punishable fine upto
Rs.1000/- or imprisonment upto 2 years or with both.
Contravention of any other made by the committee or a
breach of any condition imposed by the committee is
punishable with the fine upto Rs.200/-
