The document discusses the migration of the University of Nebraska Omaha libraries from their old system to a new global e-resource management system called OCLC WMS. Key points include streamlining e-resource processes through a unified platform, automating metadata and coverage updates through tools like PubGet, and advantages like acquiring resources directly in discovery and reducing manual work. It also outlines future wishes like centralized access to license records and linking usage data to cost elements.

Editor's Notes
Context = who we are and how we got here
1,371,985 UNO titles in the KB (313 collections)414,820 EBL DDA540 EBL purchased titles9248 Safari Tech books53 IGI ebooksNon-Ebooks within the KB = 947,324
Every library added every aspect of the data reflected in the ERM.Not all ILSs / ERMs included every component of eResource management (like a link resolver, A-Z list, Remote access authentication software) @ UNO we used III for ILS/Discovery/ERM, Serials Solutions for Link Resolver & A-Z list and EZProxy as our remote access authentication software
Other KBs : ExLibris Alma and Serial Solutions SummonsResource Metadata: Record lives in WC, LINK lives in KB
Once you are done with migration, you begin eresource management directly within WMS
So, we processed the updated general electronic product license agreement March of this year.Specific e-resource subscription agreements added as addendums under umbrella Terms & Conditions
Have the option to create/derive a license from here, or open the template to see what terms of use and collections it is associated with…
Note the general info like title/vendor is suppliedThere are also 4 collections associated with this template (you may use those, delete or add as desired)There are also already 3 terms of use defined. To look at any of these areas simply click on the corresponding arrow
If you are migrating to WMS from another platform, you begin the e-resource management process with PubGet, because e-resource records, like order record information, can not be migrated from a legacy system to WMS/KB.What is PubGet?PubGet is an e-resource holdings tool ,which means you :Select Platforms, Load CredentialsAnd PubGet goes out to publisher’s site downloads “holdings” data and then selects collections within WC/KB based on that data.PubGet turns-on access for you, sets coverage and then maintains coverage over time. This takes the burden of holdings maintenance off library staff and frees-up staff to work on other things. No eBooks No Streaming Media
Selection, Order, Receipt, Access can all be done in one place
Next 3 slides grabbed from:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCl8tcLS_sk&utm_source=WhatCountsEmail&utm_medium=OCLC%20Abstracts&utm_campaign=OCLC%20Abstracts&_wcsid=9AE4C8839210E913FF9EB425F343C90975FFBCF4370E27665BE9A71639157578Member libraries can approve/deny changes to collections. If a change is denied, OCLC will work with the vendor to resolve the issue that caused the membership to deny the change.
Members will be able to make changes to existing KB records
Member libraries will be able to add new records and collections to the KB as well as delete records and collections.
Global data : data Everyone can seeJust like with bib recs in OCLC, global aspects of records within this system are viewable to EVERYONE. So make SURE the info you are editing within a global field, actually applies to everyone. What local data needs to be added to the customizable global records?Who needs access to that data?Anyone who needs access to the local data will need permissions to access those areas of WMS.KB or Bib? KB = full-text databases (collated individual titles)Bib = non-full text (database/websites like ArtStor, Birds of North America)ESPECIALLY for PUBLIC SERVICE STAFF: Begin to educate Library staff/faculty to accept automated coverage/bib data info!!!
