ABSTRACT
The car rental application helps people who are willing to rent a car for their various occasion.
This application was developed using a cross platform technology called NodeJS and the
programming language used JavaScript. The main advantage of this application is to reduce
paper work and connect client and company together for car renting. All the features in this
application can be accessed only using the internet and also be better performance in the map
location, the global positioning system (GPS) must be turned on.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
An online car rental management system is an autonomous system that will preserve the records
of all the cars available, cars rented. Also getting a rental management system can helps people
around. The user can rent a car based on its efficiency, performance, effort, or cost. The dealer
can make a lot of use of this system by providing the cars. Transport facilities are one of the
important aspects. The movement of goods, services, mail, and other materials from one place to
another, Transportation also makes it easier for family members to visit one another and
increases socialization within the community. Traveling and hustling in the morning
are routine for most people. Since its invention, people have enjoyed public means of transport to
reach their destinations. Transportation provides safer and faster access to hospitals, fire stations,
police stations, and other public safety and governmental buildings.
BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Mobility has become one of the must importance aspects in this generation. And people
find it difficult to rent a car or actually knows someone that has a car to rent and want to
get something cheaper. Secondly, the state of our road is not friendly and so they don’t
want to use their cars for transportation, we would be forced to carry everything with us
or move everything by hand. We wouldn’t be able to ship things from one place to
another. Without transport, we wouldn’t be able to live in the fast-paced world we do.
Some public transport systems are quite bad, long waiting times, Unreliable in many
regions, Delays may imply problems at work, less flexibility regarding detours,
Transportation of heavy goods may be a problem, Higher chance for infections with
diseases, pretty crowded at rush hour. And the fact that they do not have access to their
own personal vehicle or don’t own a vehicle at all. So, there is a need for the service of
an online car renting system.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Because of no platform that exist between cars owners and those who want to rent cars ,cars can
stay with the car owner for a long period of time , depreciating without the person getting back it
money. And people that want to rent cars can’t get real services as to which car is available, they
are unable to meet up with their daily tasks.so an individual who needs to rent a car must contact
a car rental company and contract out for a vehicle and staff management. Many people face
difficulties, in finding a car they can afford to rent for a special occasion like weddings, parties,
clubbing or outing on this background we decided to walk on an online car rental service within
Buea. That customer will use to rent vehicle temporarily for a fee during a specific period of
time.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
Here we are going to talk about the general and specific objective of car rental management
system.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
 Is to develop a car rental management system.
 The system admin should manage the customers’ rental information to track their cars
and services availed. This will serve as the basis of the management to sum up their
income and expenses
 The System should manage and monitor their car information and services. In this
process they were able to assign the drivers and prizes of the service that are offered for
rentals
 The admin will have to manage every transaction done by the customers in the system.
Through this, the admin can monitor their customers as well as the services availed, they
can also be able to check their revenues and prepare in advance for new accommodations
 Record all Transactions
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
 To produce an application that allow customer to register and reserve car online and for
the company to effectively manage their car rental business
 To provide a module for customers whenever they need to rent a car.
 To change from physical manual paper manipulation to a central computerized system.
 To have the database of all client that use the online car management system.
 To test the new system.

 The study enhanced on the researcher knowledge, skills and abilities in systems
development and management.
 It also enhanced on social behavior through the social interaction with the system users in
a bid to identify the user requirements.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This project traverse a lot of areas ranging from business concept to computing field and
required to perform several researches to be able to achieve the project objectives. The area
covers include:
 Geographically our mobile application should be able to manage and globalize within
southwest municipality that is Kumba, Buea, Tiko, Limbe and Mamfe.
 Technologically the application will be able to receive input only using text.
 React native technology is used for the development of the application.
 The application will enable clients to view cars and call the admin directly
 General customers as well as the company’s staff will be able to use the system
effectively.
DEFINITION OF TERM

2.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter reviewed literature on information system. And it is relevant to the problem under
study. It also involved the review of previous studies in relation to the research topic of
analyzing, development and implementation of an online car rental management system.
2.2 INFORMATION SYSTEM
Information system is a collection of people, procedures and equipment designed, built, operated
and maintained to collect, store, retrieve and display information. Information system are
generally meant to satisfy organizational information requirements. They are responsible for
planning information service and designing system that can meet user requirements. Information
is an assemblage of data in a comprehensible form that is recorded on paper or other medium.
Which is capable of communicated to others (Harold K, 1984). Also observed that information is
not a commodity which can afford to collect and possess (Abidi, 1991). It has to be use for
increase benefit for solution of problems for appropriate development and decision-making the
observation by Abidi justifies information as indeed a basic resource that is essentials for any
organization to perform its activities and hence achieve its goals.
Information sources represent facts of knowledge necessary for day-to-day running of any
organization. This data is encoded, processed, transmitted and stored in suitable memories and
then later retrieve to support decision-making. Therefore, the total apparatus for handling
information within the organization in all respects (Chapman and Oliver, 1999)
2.2.1 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
Management information system is an information system that process data from both internal
and external sources into information in order to support management decision making.
According to McGraw (1989), management information systems produce information products
that support many of day-to-day decision-making needs of managers and business professional.
The system provides information on the firm’s performance in order to help managers in
monitoring and controlling the business management information system contains other system
embedded within them. Lucey (1997) outlines as follows database system contain other system
embedded information that later becomes the organization’s memory. Direct control system
which monitors and report on the activities such as performance of categories or individuals
support system provides computer-based procedures for providing forecast.
Management information system is a system by which people apply manual and computerized
information system to process data and information needed to solve problem in an organization
(Hambrick K, 2007). A management information system is a system or process that provides
information needed to manage organizations effectively.
Management information system can also be referred to as a planned system of collecting,
processing, storing and disseminating data in the form of the information needed to carry out
functions of management. In a way it’s a documentation report of activities were planned and
executed (Hamel, 1994). It must provide for report based upon performance analysis in areas
critical to the plan with feedback loops that allows for improvement of every aspect of the
business.
Management information system actually described specific system that “provides managers
with report and, in some cases online access to the organization’s current performance and
historical records.
2.2.2 BENEFIT OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
Management information system could be of great importance to organization when employed in
their daily operation since they could quicken and make easier their mode of operation. They are
quite vital (important) in the following ways
They provide support for structured decision-making at all levels by providing the necessary
information needed. The system also provides on-line access to the system in order to give
summarized information on the performance of the organization (Bernamati, 1997). According
to Kurtz (2001), management information system also possesses (“drilldown”) facilities which
search into depth and provide more detailed on the organizations operation and performance.
McVeigh (2002), observed that management system could also be used by institutions for
competitives advantages of business rivals because they provides details of the number of clients
registered, indicate the size of the field required and the number of the clients per booking. This
could enhance better planning thus being more competitive. In other wards management
information system provides information to an organization on the use of information technology
and availability of equipment needed (Lancey, 1987)
2.2.3 CHALLENGERS OR BARRIERS ASSOCIATED WITH MANAGEMENT
SYSTEMS
Organization implementation of electronic meeting is also a bid barrier to management systems.
Mackintosh (1987) observed that these meetings cannot yield enough data that will be needed by
the system data provided or received from the meetings is limited to the space provided by the
electronic tools that is being used.
Information technology and competitions is a big barrier to management. This is so because
competitors tend to block channels of data information from reaching the organization barrier to
software re-use adoption. Mint berg (1997) said that organizations are not yet adopted by the
method of software re-use. This has hindered the development of management information
system.
Lack of agency processes supporting distributed records and information management. The
transition from central managed record and information management to the centralized
environment where records and information management responsibility lies with the user at the
desktop, has created problems for identification, management and preservations of agencies
information assets.
Rapid technological obsolescence. The rapid pace of technological evolution is an issue for
electronics records and information that need to be available for long periods of times (e.g. more
than 10yers). In many cases agencies may need electronics records and information for thirsty
years or more to conduct ongoing business or to preserve rights, and in other cases they may be
needed indefinitely to document the nation experience for example, FAA needs access to aircraft
safety records for as long as the aircraft Is in use, FDA must retain reports of adverse reactions
for as long as the drugs Is used and DOD must keep long term records nuclear waste disposal.
2.2.4 APPROACHES
An approach is the particular way you deal with something.
The researcher simple put the client needs above everything. No matter the car rental event we
place a premium in customer service and strive to simple offer the best in the business.
The researcher will do whatever it takes to ensure flawless executional value and better-than-
expected results. In this approach the researcher, the researcher describes the approach as a way
that leads to the final stage of implementation of data system for online car rental management.
As applied to information systems, the system approaches decomposes a system to subsystems
and with its environment.
2.3 IMPLEMENTATION
Implementation is the realization of an application, or execution of a plan, idea, model, design,
specification, standard, algorithm, or policy.
2.3.1 COMPUTER SCIENCE
In computer science, an implementation is a realization of a technical specification or algorithm
as a program, software component, or other computer system through programming and
deployment. Many implementations may exist for a given specification or standard. For
example, web browsers contain implementations for World Wide Web consortium-
recommended specification, and software development tools contain implementation of
programming languages.
2.3.2 IMPLEMENTATION AND THE ROLE OF CAR RENTAL END USERS
System implementation benefit the researcher in general benefits from high level of user
involvement and management support. User participation in the design and operation of
information systems has several positives results. First, the car rental customers, End users are
heavily involved in system design: they move opportunities to mold the system according to their
priorities and business requirement, and more opportunities to control the outcome. Second, they
are more likely to react positively to the change process. Incorporating user knowledge and
expertise leads to better solution.
The relationship between users and information systems specialists has traditionally been a
problem area for information system implantation efforts. Car rental customers, End users and
information system specialists tend to have different backgrounds, interests and priorities. This is
referred loyalties, approaches to problem solving, and vocabularies. Examples of these
differences or concerns are below:
2.3.3 USER CONCERN
 Will the system deliver the information I need for my work?
 How quick can I access the data?
 How easily can I retrieve the data?
 How much clerical support will I need to enter data into the system?
 How will the operation of the system fit into my daily business schedule?
2.3.4 DESIGNER CONCERNS
 How much disk storage space will the master file consume?
 How many lines of program code will it take to perform this function?
 How can we cut down on CPU times when we run the system?
 What are the most efficient ways of storing this data?
 What database management system should we use?
Chapter three
3.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter focused on the techniques and tools which we will used to carry out the study. It
contains the methods and research instructions of online car rental management system. This
chapter also provides information about the investigation of existing systems and it also includes
the system requirement specification, techniques, system constraint and the system design tool.
DATA COLLECTION TECHNIQUES
We obtained or generate data through interviewing, observations and documentation review.
3.1.1 OBSERVATION:
This method helped us to witness with our eye’s activities carried out. For example, data
collection, recording and hence make judgment on the user requirement which could not be
easily expressed by the staff at the company.
3.1.2 DOCUMENT REVIEW:
The project developer gathered information from the company’s document, libraries, internet,
journals, text books and review other relevant published literature on the development of an
effective score processing system.
3.1.3 INTERVIEWS
We carried out interview directly with the staff of the company of Africa one travels by face-to-
face communication. The merits and demerits of the manual file system usage by the staff were
discussed.
3.2 DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY USED
We will use an agile methodology technique to build this application because, Agile teams are
responsive to change, even at the last minute, and can adapt to it without much disruption and
iterative approach to project management, meaning processes are improved upon each time an
interval is repeated.
An Agile team structure is a framework used to arrange the various elements of a team working
on an agile project. These elements include the project activities, workflows, and team roles. The
structure is essentially a foundational model to help guide agile teams in their work and organize
their operating procedures. Agile software development life cycle consists of six phases.
Fig 3.1
CONCEPT
First up is the concept phase. Here, we will determine the scope of the car rental project. The
stakeholder will discuss key requirements with our team and prepare documentation to outline
them, including what features will be supported and the proposed end results. We will keep the
requirements to a minimum as they can be added to in later stages. In the concept stage, the car
rental system will also estimate the time and cost of potential. This detailed analysis will help us
to decide whether or not the project is feasible before commencing work.
INCEPTION
Once the concept is outlined, we will check our colleagues’ availability and pick the best people
for the project while also providing them with the necessary tools and resources. They can then
start the design process. Our team will create a mock-up of the user interface and build the
project architecture. The inception stage involves further input from stakeholders to fully flesh
out the requirements on the diagram and determine the product functionality. Regular check-ins
will help to ensure that all requirements are built into the design process.
ITERATION
Next is the iteration phase, also referred to as construction. It tends to be the longest phase as the
bulk of the work is carried out here. We will work with UX designers to combine all product
requirements and customer feedback, turning the design into code. The goal is to build the bare
functionality of the car rental management system by the end of the first iteration or sprint.
Additional features and tweaks can be added in later iterations. This stage is a cornerstone of
agile software development.
RELEASE
The product is almost ready for release. But first, the quality assurance team needs to perform
some tests to ensure that the car rental management system is fully functional. We will test the
system to ensure the code is clean if potential bugs or defects are detected, and address them
swiftly. User training will also take place during this phase, which will require more
documentation.
MAINTENANCE
The car rental system will now be fully deployed and made available to customers. This action
moves it into the maintenance phase. During this phase, our team will provide ongoing support
to keep the system running smoothly and resolve any new bugs. They will also be on hand to
offer additional training to users and ensure they know how to use the system. Over time, new
iterations can take place to refresh the existing product with upgrades and additional features.
RETIREMENT
We will first notify users that the software is being retired. If there is a replacement, the users
will be migrated to the new system. Finally, the developers will carry out any remaining end-of-
life activities and remove support for the existing software.
Each phase of the system contains numerous iterations to refine deliverables and deliver great
results. Let’s take a look at how this iteration workflow works within each phase:
3.3 TOOLS AND MATERIAL USED
The following tools are used throughout the project:
 A computer
 UML diagram for the analysis and modeling of the system.
 Microsoft office programs for necessary and visualization
 MySQL workbench
 Microsoft visual code
 SQL server express.
3.3.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
This includes:
 Internet modem
 flash disk
 Laptop computer,
 CDs
 Other peripherals like printer.
3.3.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Windows XP OS, Google chrome browser, MYSQL database, Visual studio, Microsoft office,
Nodes language, java script
3.4 SYSTEM MODELS
the information system is design to closer manager’s needs and the system is set up as major
computer application are the manager information system (MIS), as a computer-based system
makes information available to users with similar needs. Manager used the output information.
The earlier studies show that MIS could use to manage car rental, expected to accelerate as well
as achieving services to computers better and safer. Making it easier when required at any point.
The online car rental management information system provides and supports the customers for
reservation, assist management in knowing rental car inventory at a specified time, to process
transactions between branches car rental, transportation processing, which support satisfactory
service to customer and support the company’s operational process.
The method that was use during the development of system was software development life cycle
which is a series of processes or phases that are used in designing, developing and testing high
quality software.
a. PLANNING PHASE
This is the first phase for developing an information system which is to find the core problems
and constraints that occur when running the system and to formulate goals and system
development that focuses on online car rental system. In prior planning stage, I observe and
collect data.
b. ANALYSIS PHASE
We analyze the company’s management, workflow, look for problem that occur within the
company, car rental data processing. System analysis aim is to find the ideal form of application
that is develop by taking into account of various issues and needs that exist on the system as
specified in system planning.
c. DESIGN PHASE
We use several tools to create system design, i.e., process design, and flowchart for owner and
area manager, and data flow diagram for the car rental system.
Implantation phase:
We plan to interpret or translate the system application design into programming language that
can be understood by computer system so application can run and be used we use software and
programming language like php,
d. TESTING AND INTEGRATION PHASE
Before the program is tested, the program must be free from errors free from errors is a necessary
testing to find errors that may occurs as in the language errors, logistic errors and error analysis
program. Test that we perform include. The entire menu of program, processing application and
preparing report
3.5 SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Here we analysis the requirement, functional requirement, non-functional and system
requirement.
3.5.1 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The database application was analyzed in order to make sure that it performs the following:
 Our application will be able to receive payment online.

  • 6. CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION An online car rental management system is an autonomous system that will preserve the records of all the cars available, cars rented. Also getting a rental management system can helps people around. The user can rent a car based on its efficiency, performance, effort, or cost. The dealer can make a lot of use of this system by providing the cars. Transport facilities are one of the important aspects. The movement of goods, services, mail, and other materials from one place to another, Transportation also makes it easier for family members to visit one another and increases socialization within the community. Traveling and hustling in the morning are routine for most people. Since its invention, people have enjoyed public means of transport to reach their destinations. Transportation provides safer and faster access to hospitals, fire stations, police stations, and other public safety and governmental buildings. BACKGROUND OF STUDY Mobility has become one of the must importance aspects in this generation. And people find it difficult to rent a car or actually knows someone that has a car to rent and want to get something cheaper. Secondly, the state of our road is not friendly and so they don’t want to use their cars for transportation, we would be forced to carry everything with us or move everything by hand. We wouldn’t be able to ship things from one place to another. Without transport, we wouldn’t be able to live in the fast-paced world we do. Some public transport systems are quite bad, long waiting times, Unreliable in many regions, Delays may imply problems at work, less flexibility regarding detours, Transportation of heavy goods may be a problem, Higher chance for infections with diseases, pretty crowded at rush hour. And the fact that they do not have access to their own personal vehicle or don’t own a vehicle at all. So, there is a need for the service of an online car renting system.
  • 7. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Because of no platform that exist between cars owners and those who want to rent cars ,cars can stay with the car owner for a long period of time , depreciating without the person getting back it money. And people that want to rent cars can’t get real services as to which car is available, they are unable to meet up with their daily tasks.so an individual who needs to rent a car must contact a car rental company and contract out for a vehicle and staff management. Many people face difficulties, in finding a car they can afford to rent for a special occasion like weddings, parties, clubbing or outing on this background we decided to walk on an online car rental service within Buea. That customer will use to rent vehicle temporarily for a fee during a specific period of time. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY Here we are going to talk about the general and specific objective of car rental management system. GENERAL OBJECTIVES  Is to develop a car rental management system.  The system admin should manage the customers’ rental information to track their cars and services availed. This will serve as the basis of the management to sum up their income and expenses  The System should manage and monitor their car information and services. In this process they were able to assign the drivers and prizes of the service that are offered for rentals  The admin will have to manage every transaction done by the customers in the system. Through this, the admin can monitor their customers as well as the services availed, they can also be able to check their revenues and prepare in advance for new accommodations  Record all Transactions
  • 8. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES  To produce an application that allow customer to register and reserve car online and for the company to effectively manage their car rental business  To provide a module for customers whenever they need to rent a car.  To change from physical manual paper manipulation to a central computerized system.  To have the database of all client that use the online car management system.  To test the new system. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY Company:  To generate income to the company  To make cars available to each and every client.  To study on how the car rental business is being done, opportunity that exist for improvement.  To manage cars in the company.  It also reduces management cost through decreasing paper work and time Community of Buea:  To get cars to lent using the online car management application.  To ease transport to their destination.  To save time. Future researchers:  To extend the scope of studies within Buea to other towns.  To use as literature review in their own project.  To Increase the researcher knowledge, skills and ability in system management.  The study enhanced on the researcher knowledge, skills and abilities in systems development and management.
  • 9.  It also enhanced on social behavior through the social interaction with the system users in a bid to identify the user requirements. SCOPE OF THE STUDY This project traverse a lot of areas ranging from business concept to computing field and required to perform several researches to be able to achieve the project objectives. The area covers include:  Geographically our mobile application should be able to manage and globalize within southwest municipality that is Kumba, Buea, Tiko, Limbe and Mamfe.  Technologically the application will be able to receive input only using text.  React native technology is used for the development of the application.  The application will enable clients to view cars and call the admin directly  General customers as well as the company’s staff will be able to use the system effectively. DEFINITION OF TERM  Manager information system (MIS) is an organization system design to collect, process, store and distribute information.  Car owner: is a person that owns the car  Artificial intelligent is the ability of a machine to think and works like a human. ORGANIZATION OF THE STUDY Here we give the brief history on each of the chapters Chapter one Mobility has become one of the most important aspects in this generation and most people find it difficult to rent a car or actually know someone that has a car to rent. Because, of no platform that exist between cars owners and those who want to rent cars ,cars can stay with the car owner for a long period of time , depreciating without the person getting back it money Chapter two

It also involved the review of previous studies in relation to the research topic of analyzing, development and implementation of an online car rental management system. Chapter three We used observation, document review, and interview to collect data and agile development methodology to develop the system which has the following phases concept, inception, iteration, maintenance and retirement. Chapter five We concluded that Car rental management system is very important in the society. Because, it link customers and administrator. We recommend that the car management system should have a build in AI.
  • 11. Chapter two 2.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter reviewed literature on information system. And it is relevant to the problem under study. It also involved the review of previous studies in relation to the research topic of analyzing, development and implementation of an online car rental management system. 2.2 INFORMATION SYSTEM Information system is a collection of people, procedures and equipment designed, built, operated and maintained to collect, store, retrieve and display information. Information system are generally meant to satisfy organizational information requirements. They are responsible for planning information service and designing system that can meet user requirements. Information is an assemblage of data in a comprehensible form that is recorded on paper or other medium. Which is capable of communicated to others (Harold K, 1984). Also observed that information is not a commodity which can afford to collect and possess (Abidi, 1991). It has to be use for increase benefit for solution of problems for appropriate development and decision-making the observation by Abidi justifies information as indeed a basic resource that is essentials for any organization to perform its activities and hence achieve its goals. Information sources represent facts of knowledge necessary for day-to-day running of any organization. This data is encoded, processed, transmitted and stored in suitable memories and then later retrieve to support decision-making. Therefore, the total apparatus for handling information within the organization in all respects (Chapman and Oliver, 1999) 2.2.1 MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM Management information system is an information system that process data from both internal and external sources into information in order to support management decision making. According to McGraw (1989), management information systems produce information products
  • 12. that support many of day-to-day decision-making needs of managers and business professional. The system provides information on the firm’s performance in order to help managers in monitoring and controlling the business management information system contains other system embedded within them. Lucey (1997) outlines as follows database system contain other system embedded information that later becomes the organization’s memory. Direct control system which monitors and report on the activities such as performance of categories or individuals support system provides computer-based procedures for providing forecast. Management information system is a system by which people apply manual and computerized information system to process data and information needed to solve problem in an organization (Hambrick K, 2007). A management information system is a system or process that provides information needed to manage organizations effectively. Management information system can also be referred to as a planned system of collecting, processing, storing and disseminating data in the form of the information needed to carry out functions of management. In a way it’s a documentation report of activities were planned and executed (Hamel, 1994). It must provide for report based upon performance analysis in areas critical to the plan with feedback loops that allows for improvement of every aspect of the business. Management information system actually described specific system that “provides managers with report and, in some cases online access to the organization’s current performance and historical records. 2.2.2 BENEFIT OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM Management information system could be of great importance to organization when employed in their daily operation since they could quicken and make easier their mode of operation. They are quite vital (important) in the following ways They provide support for structured decision-making at all levels by providing the necessary information needed. The system also provides on-line access to the system in order to give summarized information on the performance of the organization (Bernamati, 1997). According
  • 13. to Kurtz (2001), management information system also possesses (“drilldown”) facilities which search into depth and provide more detailed on the organizations operation and performance. McVeigh (2002), observed that management system could also be used by institutions for competitives advantages of business rivals because they provides details of the number of clients registered, indicate the size of the field required and the number of the clients per booking. This could enhance better planning thus being more competitive. In other wards management information system provides information to an organization on the use of information technology and availability of equipment needed (Lancey, 1987) 2.2.3 CHALLENGERS OR BARRIERS ASSOCIATED WITH MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Organization implementation of electronic meeting is also a bid barrier to management systems. Mackintosh (1987) observed that these meetings cannot yield enough data that will be needed by the system data provided or received from the meetings is limited to the space provided by the electronic tools that is being used. Information technology and competitions is a big barrier to management. This is so because competitors tend to block channels of data information from reaching the organization barrier to software re-use adoption. Mint berg (1997) said that organizations are not yet adopted by the method of software re-use. This has hindered the development of management information system. Lack of agency processes supporting distributed records and information management. The transition from central managed record and information management to the centralized environment where records and information management responsibility lies with the user at the desktop, has created problems for identification, management and preservations of agencies information assets. Rapid technological obsolescence. The rapid pace of technological evolution is an issue for electronics records and information that need to be available for long periods of times (e.g. more than 10yers). In many cases agencies may need electronics records and information for thirsty years or more to conduct ongoing business or to preserve rights, and in other cases they may be needed indefinitely to document the nation experience for example, FAA needs access to aircraft
  • 14. safety records for as long as the aircraft Is in use, FDA must retain reports of adverse reactions for as long as the drugs Is used and DOD must keep long term records nuclear waste disposal. 2.2.4 APPROACHES An approach is the particular way you deal with something. The researcher simple put the client needs above everything. No matter the car rental event we place a premium in customer service and strive to simple offer the best in the business. The researcher will do whatever it takes to ensure flawless executional value and better-than- expected results. In this approach the researcher, the researcher describes the approach as a way that leads to the final stage of implementation of data system for online car rental management. As applied to information systems, the system approaches decomposes a system to subsystems and with its environment. 2.3 IMPLEMENTATION Implementation is the realization of an application, or execution of a plan, idea, model, design, specification, standard, algorithm, or policy. 2.3.1 COMPUTER SCIENCE In computer science, an implementation is a realization of a technical specification or algorithm as a program, software component, or other computer system through programming and deployment. Many implementations may exist for a given specification or standard. For example, web browsers contain implementations for World Wide Web consortium- recommended specification, and software development tools contain implementation of programming languages. 2.3.2 IMPLEMENTATION AND THE ROLE OF CAR RENTAL END USERS System implementation benefit the researcher in general benefits from high level of user involvement and management support. User participation in the design and operation of information systems has several positives results. First, the car rental customers, End users are heavily involved in system design: they move opportunities to mold the system according to their
  • 15. priorities and business requirement, and more opportunities to control the outcome. Second, they are more likely to react positively to the change process. Incorporating user knowledge and expertise leads to better solution. The relationship between users and information systems specialists has traditionally been a problem area for information system implantation efforts. Car rental customers, End users and information system specialists tend to have different backgrounds, interests and priorities. This is referred loyalties, approaches to problem solving, and vocabularies. Examples of these differences or concerns are below: 2.3.3 USER CONCERN  Will the system deliver the information I need for my work?  How quick can I access the data?  How easily can I retrieve the data?  How much clerical support will I need to enter data into the system?  How will the operation of the system fit into my daily business schedule? 2.3.4 DESIGNER CONCERNS  How much disk storage space will the master file consume?  How many lines of program code will it take to perform this function?  How can we cut down on CPU times when we run the system?  What are the most efficient ways of storing this data?  What database management system should we use?
  • 16. Chapter three 3.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter focused on the techniques and tools which we will used to carry out the study. It contains the methods and research instructions of online car rental management system. This chapter also provides information about the investigation of existing systems and it also includes the system requirement specification, techniques, system constraint and the system design tool. DATA COLLECTION TECHNIQUES We obtained or generate data through interviewing, observations and documentation review. 3.1.1 OBSERVATION: This method helped us to witness with our eye’s activities carried out. For example, data collection, recording and hence make judgment on the user requirement which could not be easily expressed by the staff at the company. 3.1.2 DOCUMENT REVIEW: The project developer gathered information from the company’s document, libraries, internet, journals, text books and review other relevant published literature on the development of an effective score processing system. 3.1.3 INTERVIEWS We carried out interview directly with the staff of the company of Africa one travels by face-to- face communication. The merits and demerits of the manual file system usage by the staff were discussed. 3.2 DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY USED We will use an agile methodology technique to build this application because, Agile teams are responsive to change, even at the last minute, and can adapt to it without much disruption and

An Agile team structure is a framework used to arrange the various elements of a team working on an agile project. These elements include the project activities, workflows, and team roles. The structure is essentially a foundational model to help guide agile teams in their work and organize their operating procedures. Agile software development life cycle consists of six phases. • 18. CONCEPT First up is the concept phase. Here, we will determine the scope of the car rental project. The stakeholder will discuss key requirements with our team and prepare documentation to outline them, including what features will be supported and the proposed end results. We will keep the requirements to a minimum as they can be added to in later stages. In the concept stage, the car rental system will also estimate the time and cost of potential. This detailed analysis will help us to decide whether or not the project is feasible before commencing work. INCEPTION Once the concept is outlined, we will check our colleagues’ availability and pick the best people for the project while also providing them with the necessary tools and resources. They can then start the design process. Our team will create a mock-up of the user interface and build the project architecture. The inception stage involves further input from stakeholders to fully flesh out the requirements on the diagram and determine the product functionality. Regular check-ins will help to ensure that all requirements are built into the design process. ITERATION Next is the iteration phase, also referred to as construction. It tends to be the longest phase as the bulk of the work is carried out here. We will work with UX designers to combine all product requirements and customer feedback, turning the design into code. The goal is to build the bare functionality of the car rental management system by the end of the first iteration or sprint. Additional features and tweaks can be added in later iterations. This stage is a cornerstone of agile software development. RELEASE The product is almost ready for release. But first, the quality assurance team needs to perform some tests to ensure that the car rental management system is fully functional. We will test the system to ensure the code is clean if potential bugs or defects are detected, and address them swiftly. User training will also take place during this phase, which will require more documentation.
  • 19. MAINTENANCE The car rental system will now be fully deployed and made available to customers. This action moves it into the maintenance phase. During this phase, our team will provide ongoing support to keep the system running smoothly and resolve any new bugs. They will also be on hand to offer additional training to users and ensure they know how to use the system. Over time, new iterations can take place to refresh the existing product with upgrades and additional features. RETIREMENT We will first notify users that the software is being retired. If there is a replacement, the users will be migrated to the new system. Finally, the developers will carry out any remaining end-of- life activities and remove support for the existing software. Each phase of the system contains numerous iterations to refine deliverables and deliver great results. Let’s take a look at how this iteration workflow works within each phase: 3.3 TOOLS AND MATERIAL USED The following tools are used throughout the project:  A computer  UML diagram for the analysis and modeling of the system.  Microsoft office programs for necessary and visualization  MySQL workbench  Microsoft visual code  SQL server express. 3.3.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS This includes:  Internet modem  flash disk  Laptop computer,  CDs
  • 20.  Other peripherals like printer. 3.3.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS Windows XP OS, Google chrome browser, MYSQL database, Visual studio, Microsoft office, Nodes language, java script 3.4 SYSTEM MODELS the information system is design to closer manager’s needs and the system is set up as major computer application are the manager information system (MIS), as a computer-based system makes information available to users with similar needs. Manager used the output information. The earlier studies show that MIS could use to manage car rental, expected to accelerate as well as achieving services to computers better and safer. Making it easier when required at any point. The online car rental management information system provides and supports the customers for reservation, assist management in knowing rental car inventory at a specified time, to process transactions between branches car rental, transportation processing, which support satisfactory service to customer and support the company’s operational process. The method that was use during the development of system was software development life cycle which is a series of processes or phases that are used in designing, developing and testing high quality software. a. PLANNING PHASE This is the first phase for developing an information system which is to find the core problems and constraints that occur when running the system and to formulate goals and system development that focuses on online car rental system. In prior planning stage, I observe and collect data. b. ANALYSIS PHASE We analyze the company’s management, workflow, look for problem that occur within the company, car rental data processing. System analysis aim is to find the ideal form of application

DESIGN PHASE We use several tools to create system design, i.e., process design, and flowchart for owner and area manager, and data flow diagram for the car rental system. Implantation phase: We plan to interpret or translate the system application design into programming language that can be understood by computer system so application can run and be used we use software and programming language like php, d. TESTING AND INTEGRATION PHASE Before the program is tested, the program must be free from errors free from errors is a necessary testing to find errors that may occurs as in the language errors, logistic errors and error analysis program. Test that we perform include. The entire menu of program, processing application and preparing report 3.5 SYSTEM ANALYSIS Here we analysis the requirement, functional requirement, non-functional and system requirement. 3.5.1 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS The database application was analyzed in order to make sure that it performs the following:  Our application will be able to receive payment online.  Drive the car to the customer destination.  Support capturing of data from the customer booking form to the system.  Storing of data validating.  Updating of data.
