Within the Project "Sharing Experience Across the Ría", CEIP PLURILINGÜE Grade 5 students have made a research about the school area by the Ría and how it has changed in recent years to share with another school across the Ría.

  2. 2. { Fuchiños beach is located in the parish of San Miguel de Oia, near Canido´port. The sand is white and thick because there are many rocks. There are many divers who visit the bottom of the sea. In the summer there are many tourists visiting it. As soon as you get to it, if you face the showers, you can admire the bravery of the sea in winter, as well as large and small vessels entering the river and the gorgeous sunsets over the Cies Islands.   3. 3. { It is a small fishing port with a ramp and a sheltered area, wherein multiple boats are concentrated. Small fishing boats and pleasure boats access by sea present some difficulty, because of its low draft. It also has a sailing club with great activity in the Summer. On both sides are Canido´s beach and Fuciños´beach. Canido´s port.
  4. 4. { Canido´s beach lies in Oia. The sand path it is 270 metres long and 40 metres wide. There are two stone ramps on each side and some stone steps in the middle to get into the beach. It is also called «Areal de O Conto da Area». Canido´s beach.
  5. 5. { At the end of 19th. Century and beginning of the 20th. Century, Vigo became the first Canning Industry City, with so many factories along the sea in Beiramar, especially in Coia, Areal and Canido in Oia. Canido´s Canning Industry.

  8. 8. { Toralla is a small island located on the South coast of the “Ría de Vigo”, just 400 meters from the Bao beach. It has an urbanized surface of 10´6 hectareas and it is communicated with Vigo Bao beach coast by a public bridge. The island has developed out of control, since it has destroyed their natural and cultural heritage since the sixties. Toralla building is very big. Beneath the buildings lie important Iron Age remains and also evidence of trade of a Roman necropolis. Toralla´s island.
  9. 9. { In this field were found the Roman remains of an ancient Roman Village. The first remains were found in 1920 by the Mirambel family, who were in charge of the land in for ninety years. There were found coins and pottery. As soon as they dig, they found the remains of an old building. This Roman Village dates from the 300 till the 450, at the end of the Roman empire. It has some buildings related to the agriculture, the sea or the home. It we compare it to other villages, it is not very luxiorous, but cosy. They has three beths and a heater to heat water and an oven as well. I faces Toralla Island, where used to be a roman burial. Mirambel, the Roman Village.

  12. 12. { This chapel is dedicated to the Virgen of Carmen, whose image crowns the tower at the top of the church. It arose in 1952, as a maritime chapel. On July 16 hundreds of sailors carry their boats on a decorated procession on the Ría, beginning at the Canido´s port. They are led by a boat that carries the figure of the Virgin of Carmen, which is also taken from the chapel. The Bao Chapel.
  13. 13. { Here you will find the Athlantic Islands Natural Park, which has beautiful islands, crystalized waters and abundant incredible good amount of flora and fauna. Their name comes from the Romans and means “The Gods Island”. They are formed by three islands: Monte Agudo, o Faro and San Martiño. The two first are joined by a sand path, which is the Rodas beach. The Cíes Islands.
  14. 14. { Long time ago there was a tram in Canido, which went from Vigo to Baiona, and the other way round, from Baiona to Vigo. It was built in the 1930 and destroyed in 1968. Moreover, it became very famous in the 30st, 40th,50th and 60th . Canido´s Tram.
