• According to the learning preferences survey, I prefer the active
learning style with a score of 1, the sensing learning style with a
score of 3, the visual learning style with the score of 3, and the
sequential learning style with a score of 5. By the end of this
course, my thinking has not changed that much since then about
these learning preferences. I think the biggest change would be that
I am probably more of an active learner than what the survey had
scored me. In addition, my overall thinking about learning
preferences has definitely changed a lot. I learned a lot about being
able to combine two opposite learning styles (e.g. visual and verbal)
to help better my learning in unison. Knowing about these learning
preferences may help me realize what my strengths might be when
it comes to strategies on how to study effectively.

• I chose the Learning Sage pathway at the beginning of the
class. I was successful in getting a broader knowledge of
multimedia technologies. I was not very successful in
getting a deeper knowledge of multimedia technologies. I
was able to find my opportunity to use multimedia
technologies, but not exactly to learn with others. I did not
change my learning pathway by the end of the course.
Although I found out more than what I knew prior to this
course about multimedia technologies, it was not enough
to make me feel that I have learned even half of its
potentials for learning purposes. It may have been a bit
because I feel screencasts and podcasts are almost the
same, except one allows a visual.

• The technology quests that deal with Screencasts and
Podcasts helped me get a broader understanding of how to
use a multimedia technology to learn. Learning about the
difference between podcasts and screencasts helps
differentiate what would be useful for a certain class or
what would be useful for a certain assignment. I honestly
did not find any specific activity that helped me get much
of a deeper understanding of how to use a multimedia
technology to learn. The specific activity that helped and
worked best for learning with others to use multimedia
technologies would most likely be the podcast technology
quest. I created a podcast for a friend of mine to listen to
on his three hour drive so he could study for an important
exam.

• The screencasts technology quest was probably the most
explored multimedia technology quest this semester. I had
a class that required us to watch and listen to a screencast
almost every Friday in replacement of an in-class lecture.
This accommodated my visual learning style because I was
able to not only listen to what my professor was talking
about, but also see the powerpoint that he was basing his
lecture on. Sometimes professors do not say things as
clearly as they had written it in a powerpoint. It also
accommodated my active learning style because I was able
to pause the screencast whenever I needed to write
something important or go back if I felt that I needed to
hear something that I may have missed.

• The podcasts technology quest was rarely used for
learning purposes this semester. The only way I was
able to explore it was to make a podcast for a friend of
mine for his three hour drive. At first it seems like it
was just for him, but it helped me because I actually
listened to the podcast several times when I was not
home and did not have my notes on me. I would get
sick of my voice of course, but it would be the next
best thing if I did not have access to anything else. This
multimedia technology accommodated my active
learning style because I was able to make the podcast
myself and use it not only to help myself, but to help
another friend study.
7. Number 5 (Cont.)
• The multimedia technology quest was honestly not
very helpful for my learning this semester. It was hard
to keep myself engaged with the multimedia learning
tools that were provided in the activities. I think it
would have been more interesting if I could control the
speed of things instead of having to wait for it to show
everything slowly before I could move on. But of
course that would take away from what it was meant
to do. Although it was not very helpful, it did
accommodate my active learning style. Being able to
actively do things with those activities instead of just
reading helped a little more with understanding what
they were trying to throw at me.
8. Number 6
• The multimedia technologies that interested me the most
as learning tools would be the screencasts. It was great to
be able to use screencasts frequently for a class because it
allowed me a chance to get used to them and to get a
hands-on experience on one of the lessons of this course.
None of the multimedia technologies presented to us had
surprised me at all to be used as a learning tool. The
multimedia learning technology that did not seem to work
as a learning tool for me was from the multimedia
technology quest. It had bored me more than it had helped
me. That being said, I kind of want to explore that one
further to improve my learning. I want to be able to
understand the usefulness of it and get the hang of staying
interested and focused on it.
9. Number 6 (Cont.)
• The multimedia technology that worked best for my
learning preferences would be the screencasts. It
definitely helped me with my active learning style
because I was able to be engaged in a lecture that was
online. Sometimes it is hard to do so in an in-class
lecture because if you miss something, you might not
want to ask for them to repeat it. Some people find it
uncomfortable to do that. Being able to pause the
screencast whenever I needed or wanted to was very
helpful. It did not matter what the reason was, I could
pause it to take more notes or to take a break from the
lecture. That is something you cannot do for an in-class
lecture.
10. Number 7
• The multimedia learning strategy that I might continue
using after this class would be to quiz myself after
certain sections of a screencast or a podcast so I could
check to see if I truly know the information or if I need
to go over them again. I am actually not too sure how I
would be able to use this strategy for learning purposes
at a job. I am sure it comes in handy for people who
have corporate or administrative positions. I feel that
those people may have to watch screencasts or go
through powerpoint presentations somewhat often.
Other than that, I really am not sure what else.
11. Number 7 (Cont.)
• The multimedia technology that I will most likely continue
using for learning after this class would be screencasts. I
feel that other professors may make use of screencasts
more than any other multimedia technology presented to
us in this course. As I mentioned previously, I can only really
think of corporate or administrative jobs that would use
screencasts on a frequent basis. The multimedia technology
that I would probably continue using for non-learning
purposes would be podcasts. Podcasts are very interesting
to listen to just to hear what else is going on in the world
and other people’s views. I do not really feel like I want or
need to avoid any multimedia technology in the future.
