17. Steps towards REDD…

18. How do we get REDDy? Creation and strengthening of capacities to be provided with technical and professional personnel in the topic of REDD (from the inspection and control, up to the evaluation and monitoring of results). Update of information for the integrated management of hydrographic basins Design and implementation of methodologies for the raising of the national forest historical baseline, as well as for the monitoring of the engagement and fulfillment of REDD objectives. Tools and hardware to create a generation, administration and analysis of information system, as a tool for decision making, specifically for REDD Strengthening of the indigenous peoples and other forest dwellers who reside or work in critical areas of deforestation, through community investment projects.

21. Climate Change Policy Commitment to Combat Global Warming For the government of Panama, climate change is a priority, both through adaptation and mitigation. We believe CDM projects are of national interest, as well as important outside Panama’s borders, to help us face the threats of Global Warming as well as the current fuel oil crisis, through the establishment of renewable energy projects and other technologies that help reduce GHG emissions while driving towards a low carbon emission economy. It’s in this sense that we believe that REDD initiatives will help contribute to achieve Sustainable Development and reduce vulnerability as well reduce deforestation.
