Essay about It was All a Dream
It was a dark and rainy night; it was just another usual time of the day for Jake. As he was walking
he stumbled upon a motionless body. As he approached the body it shivered and he was startled.
Jake just looked at it one more time before he heard sirens and started running. Once Jake got home
he goes back to the usual yelling and screaming from his mom. He made it to his room, yet not
feeling the same. He started asking himself many questions, about what he just saw, but he just layed
in bed and waited to get sleepy. When Jake woke up he had gotten an unusual feeling.
As he was walking to school in the bright morning he went to the spot he had found the body, it
wasn't there anymore, but he just continued walking. Once he got to...show more content...
He said "Umm, I was just walking through the neighborhood and I happened to see it on the floor''.
Officer Smith knew that what he just said sounded like a lie, so he went outside to talk with his
partner while Jake was still in there. All Jake could think of was what he would do.
Both of the officers came in the room and said, "We have to keep you in here for tomorrow, it's
getting late and we don't want you out there on your own. Spend the night here.'' They put him in
a cell and he falls asleep. He wakes up the next morning, in a hospital bed. His mom is standing
right next to him. Then a doctor comes in and says "Hello Jake, do you have any idea of what has
happened to you?'' Jake shakes his head in confusion, the doctor continues "Well about a month
ago you got in a car wreck with what I suppose was a couple of your friends, I am sorry to tell you
this, but none of them survived. You were in a coma, and even I, from all my years of experience,
never thought that you would wake up from it''.
Jake layed there, thinking about the dream he just had. He stared right into the doctor's eyes, with
the news he just received he felt horrible. Jake spoke up "What has happened during the month that
I was gone?''. His mom yelled at him saying "You missed graduation day! Your girlfriend moved

The Internet Saves Time
In an age of digital media and innovation, society is producing some of the smartest brains in
history. This, in part, is due to all the positive benefits of having the internet. It is aiding us to
become more intellectual, and pointing towards a more advanced world. There are many theories
as to how this is true, but a few brief reasons clearly that it allows humans to waste less time, share
ideas, and that it is supported by historic events along with worldwide observations. Above all, the
use of internet simply saves time. As opposed to physical tools of education such as books, the
internet is quickly available to all and provide access to things such as ebooks and online school.
Some citizens in our nation have families and other large responsibilities, and therefore having no
time to physically go to college. Online school saves them the time it would take to drive to a
campus and leave their family. This is significant because it shows that with online school provided
from the internet, education becomes available to people who otherwise might not have an
opportunity to get any. It is known that many great minds are often busy and the internet helps to
save time by allowing people to stop worrying about little things. This is because so much
information is available at our fingertips. With the introduced digital age, we also save time
worrying about the environment since technology saves a great deal of paper. One example of how
the internet saves time is one that

Time Essay
Time
Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This
broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many
scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The
aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and
calculate.
Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day.
Time tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. If time were based on these
simple terms, then this mysterious enigma would not be in debate. There are the issues of space and
time; what is the relationship...show more content...
When space and the universe began, the existence of time also began. This theory is well–known as
the Big
Bang Theory. About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed
gas, as a fireball.
This is contrary to the idea of the universe beginning as a lump of matter somewhere in the void of
space. Matter was created as a result of the Big Bang. Space and time was also created. So, with
these ideas, time had a beginning.
Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our
accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can't be explained all the way back to the Big
Bang. There is no way to define time in that era. This is another way that time has a beginning; as
far back as we can calculate. Space–time began at the same time. According to Hawking, you can't
look at the universe using general relativity without finding a big bang or something similar to that
at the very beginning. So what does time mean to people now? Time is different as you go through
time zones. Everyone has their own perception of time. Nobody is ever on the same schedule, doing
things exactly like another person. Even to go as far as other galaxies and planets, time cannot be
existing on the same terms. In short, time is not absolute.
In the space–time continuum, space bends whenever there is a mass. It's kind of like a bowling ball

Movie Analysis : Lilo And Stitch
The movie Lilo and Stitch is a movie that addresses the struggle people face with feeling alone. A
heavy topic for a children's movie, and one I never really thought about all the times I have
watched it. Lilo and Stitch was the first movie I ever saw in theatres and so it holds a special
place in my heart for that reason, but I think also connected to the movie on a deeper level. The
story centers around Lilo, a 6 year old girl from Hawaii with a big imagination, who is now in the
custody of her older sister, Nani, after their parents died in a car accident. Stitch appears in the
movie after Lilo prays for a friends, so to Lilo, Stitch the rogue aline is an angel sent from heaven.
By analyzing the movie through it's characters, one can...show more content...
There is nothing in the movie to suggest that this is wrong or that she is overweight. Nani is a
regular woman who is put in a really hard situation. I grew up with the movie and I have watched
it so many times (likely 100 or more). It never occurred to me that Nani looked different or wrong.
I didn't even notice this was an element of the movie until I saw a post about it on Pinterest. One
thing I have been told is that 'nobody notices if something is different if what they perceive to be
is normal. ( an example most people don't day they just notice when something is different and
part of them thinks it's wrong. I grew up with this movie and never saw anything wrong with
Nani, I would argue this movie made me see a body image like Nani's to be normal and
acceptable. Another major characteristic of Nani is her continuous support of Lilo's imagination.
There are so many instances in the movie where Nani makes sure not to harm Lilo's imagination.
One of the best examples is when Nani gets fired from her Job. Nanii gets fired from her job
because Stitch was being disruptive and attacked a customer, but what she says is completely
different: Lilo: Did you lose your job because of Stitch and me? Nani: Nah. The manager 's a
vampire. He wanted me to join his legion of the undead. Lilo: I knew it! Another more subtle
example happens in the first scene of the

Shawn Mendes Stitchs Analysis
Stitches by Shawn Mendes Forgiving others will bring you peace. People often hold grudges to a
person that has hurt them in some type of way. Although this song has to do with bad heartbreaks
that sometimes lead to depression and self–harm, it is important to learn how to forgive. Going
through a bad heartbreak can lead to depression and self–harm, but it's important to understand that
the pain won't last forever. In the song "Stitches", Shawn Mendes mentions "but I know that I'll
make it out alive, if I quit calling you my lover, move on", meaning that if he forgives his
ex–girlfriend he will be able to have peace within himself. After the heartbreak Shawn went through
depression which was easy for him to fall into self–harm. In this song,

Argumentative Essay On Daylight Saving Time
Many adolescents and adults alike enjoy sleeping even though they do not get that much of it.
People across the world wake up wishing they had just one more hour of sleep. Whenever daylight
saving time (not plural) rolls around in the spring the hour lost is always dreaded even though it is
balanced by the hour that is gained. Matt Schiavenza from The Atlantic says, "...Americans lose
around 40 minutes of sleep on the Sunday night after the shift" (Schiavenza). Daylight saving time or
DST is considered useless by many Americans and should be abolished. Americans do not dislike
DST for no apparent reason. There are various studies and statistics backing the sheer uselessness
of DST as well as it's negative and harmful effects. Daylight savings time was originally created to
decrease the cost of lighting and it is argued that this is the reason it is even kept around today.
Keeping daylight savings in more recent years has caused more problems than it has fixed.
Daylight savings causes many complications such as increased numbers of stroke and heart attack
the week after and decreased productivity at work. DST did have an actual valid reason for its
creation despite its uselessness nowadays. Since the first light source was created there has
always been a cost attached to lighting. Whether this cost is the cost of wax or the cost of
electricity, the cost has always been there. DSTs first implementation in the United States was to
lower this cost because the shift of time would lead to more light during the hours that people
work and are awake. Though there were and are other reasons for creating DST, this was the main
driving factor. The idea for DST is credited to Benjamin Franklin where he wrote about the idea in
a 1784 essay titled, "An Economical Project" (webexhibits.org). According to Jeffrey Kluger of
Time.com, it was not until 1905 that someone actually pushed to create a DST. This all began with
William Willett, who had the idea while riding his horse early one morning. This led to the first
implementation of DST in England. It was not until 1918, during World War I, that DST was first
implemented in the United States and was soon after repealed until World War II (Kluger). Since the

Lilo And Stitch: What Does Family Really Mean?
What Does Family Really Mean? In the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch there is a girl who lives with
her older sister named Nani. They both live together without their parents in Hawaii, but them being
separated from their parents does not mean they are not a family. Lilo states in the movie "Ohana
means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. This means that families
will always be there even when we are separated. A family comes from all different shapes and
sizes whether just being the only child or having brothers and sisters. The definition of a family
is love because we care for one another, supporting each other, and help one another no matter
what. First, the definition of family is for everyone to care for one another. When we care for our
family we are taking care of them when they are sick, or stick by their side when something bad
happened. Care can also mean to be protective of a family member, whether babysitting, or
watching someone that is sick. Family members are very attached to each other when someone gets
hurt or just very cautious of what everyone does. Every family goes through someone being sick or
needing help with...show more content...
Supporting is different from caring because it is when we need someone to keep us up when we are
down. Family can support us when we are getting a job, getting a new hairstyle, picking out
something to wear for an interview, and so on. Supporting is when someone gives assistance to
someone else when that person needs it. Family will always have each other's back for any reason
when needing help with something. Supporting can be the same as caring because they are both
helping someone in need when that person needs it. Supporting helps build confidence in ourselves
when a person does not feel good about themselves. Supporting one another helps make us feel
stronger and build

The movie tells me about importance of family and friends. Lilo and Stitch are very charm
character. I never can tell what is in store for me and I will meet various people. I will have a

Everywhere around the world, in every different culture, people are grouped into families. The word
family can be defined as a group of people bound together over time, because of mutual consent,

Lilo And Stitch : Analysis
Lilo and Stitch: Lilo Character Analysis
Lilo and stitch is about a young girl growing up on an
island in Hawaii. Lilo is an eccentric six year old, she recently lost her parents to an accident and
is now being raised by her older sister Nani. Lilo does not socialize well and because of this Nani
decides to adopt a pet for her sister. They end up adopting what they both believe is a dog but is
actually an alien refugee named Stitch (experiment 626). The story continues to show the struggle
the three face while continuing to grow as a family and overcome their challenges. Analyzing Lilo it
is cleared that she may suffers from multiple mental and personality disorders due to the fact that she
does not socialize well with others and the stress that she suffered from loosing her parents (DeBlois,
2002).
It is assumed that Lilo lost her parents within the previous year because of this I believe
that a great deal of her issues may directly correlate with this event. Although it is not shown if she
has nightmare or intrusive memories, she references back to her parents in agony for their lost.
She is clearly in distress and it is effecting her emotional growth. During the film Nani's ability to
raise Lilo is questioned. As you look around the house in multiple scenes, situations such as; a
blender being plugged in on the ground, scissors left laying around and even a pot left unattended
burning on the stove can be scene. On several occasions Nani even leaves Lilo unattended at

Synthesis Essay On Daylight Saving Time
Most American citizens native to mainland United States are accustomed to a familiar pattern of
springing their clocks forward an hour in March and setting their clocks backward an hour in
November. This pattern of lifestyle is regulated by the federal government and is widely adopted
by many, for daylight savings poses a plethora of benefits for society. In order to maintain optimal
efficiency as a nation, the federal government should continue to practice daylight savings time
because obtaining an extra hour of sunlight has social, environmental, and economic advantages.
Daylight savings time poses an array of social benefits, including crime reduction and road safety.
The diminution of crime is affected by daylight savings, for people tend to feel safer in the daylight
and many crimes are believed to be influenced by lighting...show more content...
This knowledge has been evident since 1942 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a year
round daylight savings time to conserve energy during World War II. This set the precedent for
other states to adopt a similar change after the termination of the war in 1945 (Source A). The
second World War was a time in history where resources were scarce and conservation of energy
was critical because any surplus energy went towards the soldiers fighting overseas. Although
today our society's circumstance is not as dire, the notion to save energy still persists, and it is
conclusive that daylight savings time would be even more successful during today's time of
relative peace. Studies also show that "America's electricity usage is reduced by about one percent
each day that daylight savings time is in effect." (Source B). This one percent reduction per day
makes a significant imprint on conservation when viewed at the end of daylight savings time.
Overall, an extra month of synthetic sunshine is a key factor in saving energy and the

Essay about Making Good Choices.
Making Good Choices
By: Keria Owens
Making choices can affect any and everything in your life whether it's dealing with your family or
just everyday situations. Everyone in life is faced with good and bad choices that can either have
a good outcome on your life or it can make a turn for the worst. Yes, everyone wants to make good
choices in life. But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. Recently, I made a bad
choice that affected my life in numerous ways for instance when I got caught shoplifting my
parents looked down on me as if I was this thief. I'm very embarrassed of my actions but there's
nothing I can do to erase it I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next

Often times it can be difficult if not impossible to make what you think at that moment will be the
right choice. One of the biggest factors that will hold people back is that to too often than not we
are not completely clear on what type of result or outcome we want from a situation. Think about
it, if you don't really know what kind of result you want it is going to be pretty hard to know what
choice is going to be the right one. So what do you do? You get a clear understanding, before you
make any choice. Think about its effects in the long term, and short term. Knowing exactly what
you want is very powerful. We have all heard the golden rule; do onto others as you would have
them do onto you. This is probably one of the most important ideas to keep in mind when making
good choices. When we are young a lot of us develop this me, me, me, attitude. We want all the
toys, and we don't want to share. Now this mentality may get us a lot of toys, but it defiantly
doesn't help you make friends. In this day and age a large part of personal success is based on
working with others to achieve our goals. If we can help others get what they want, it will be
much easier and they will be much more willing to help us get what we want. So when making any
choice it is always ideal to think about how can I

Essay On Shrek
Selecting a great comedy movie can be quite difficult since there are various types of movies out in
the market these days. However, the best kind of movies to watch are comedy films since they
allow many people to leave the Cinema feeling happy inside. Nonetheless, searching for a particular
comedy movie like Shrek would be the best option to choose since they have a total of four movies
previously released along with a new movie coming out in 2019. Yet the storyline of Shrek always
keeps everyone entertained with the hilarious embarrassing moments as well as the nice songs, and
happily ever after endings.
Trailers seen on YouTube shows exactly how funny the movie Shrek actually is, however the
easiest movie to remembered out of the rest would probably be Shrek from 2001. This movie was
not only the first movie released but was favored by many because Shrek rescues Fiona in the

Analysis Of The Book ' Lilo ' And Stitch '
Losing a Child
"Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten". This is from a
Disney original, Lilo and Stitch. Family isn't that simple, however. From an early age, family is a
huge part of our cognitive development, for they are our primary environment. That being said, it is
inevitable that they impact us. Is it also inevitable to become them in some aspects, no matter how
badly you wish not to? I've witnessed my mother spill over waterfalls of tears over the betrayal of her
mother, and the way in which my older half–sister, Jessica, feels abandoned by her. And to my
mother's horror, my sister found motherly comfort in her grandmother.
My mom grew up in a family that came and went, in every way possible that a family could come
and go. My grandmother's husbands came and went, although she seems to be happily settled with
her fifth right now. Schools and friends came and went; my mother told me that she had only ever
stayed at a school for longer than a year, in 8th grade. My mother's family was constantly moving
between states, and among the troubles of moving so often and having no stability in life, certain
traumas had occurred that left her feeling betrayed and abandoned when her mother had chosen to
ignore it.
My mother had my older sister Jessica when she was 18, with a different man from the father of
both me and my little sister. Jessica is 9 and a half years older than I, and 12 years older than my
younger sister, Sydney. I never

A Stitch in Time Essay
Quilting has different meanings for different people, but all quilts have a unique appearance and
tradition. "What makes art is its life – pulsing and shining with the energy and intentions of its
creator. The art of quilting glows with a respect for all generations that have come before – putting
thread, needle, and cloth together with vision and love" (Wilson 7). Starting out in antiquity as a
necessity and a work of art, quilting has changed over time, but it is still practiced in a myriad of
cultures around the world. Although there are many types of quilting, there are three common types
identified as whole cloth, piecing, and appliquГ©. The whole cloth technique uses only one piece of
white fabric for the top of the quilt –...show more content...
Since the modern word "quilt" is derived from the Latin word culcitra, it is reasonable to assume
that Romans who spoke Latin used quilted blankets. However, it was not until A.D. 1095 that
Europeans gained undeviating access to the technologies of Asia and Africa, and the process of
quilting became standard in Western Europe. Through their attack on Palestine, knights from
England, France, and Italy were introduced to the Palestinians' light armor made of tough quilted
jackets covered with chain mail, flexible armor made of metal links (Wilson 16–17). Quilting was
introduced to America when the first settlers came in the Fifteenth Century. The first records of
quilts in what would become the United States come from wills and estate papers of the 1600's. The
oldest surviving American quilt is probably the Saltonstall quilt, made around 1704 (Breneman and
Laurette). Many cultures have come together in the United States to include, for example, such
world–noted quilt styles as Mexican–American, African–American, and Amish. It is not known
exactly when the first pioneer woman introduced her quilting to the Spanish–American settlers, but
star quilt patterns became an element of Spanish–American women's weaving quite early. Fabric
became more available in the 1800's when the railroad arrived. Women found that they could make
warm bed coverings much faster than weaving by sewing together scraps of fabric with an old
blanket, with wool or cotton as filling.

Personal Experience : The Stock Market Game
Pages 1 and 2: Personal Experience
Toward the beginning of the stock market game, I honestly did not know what I was doing, but I
managed to remain in the Top 10 ranks, which made me feel like I was doing something right or
correct. However, after finding out how the stock market actually worked, I began testing out some
strategies such as short–selling and covering, but to my dismay, I wasn't very good at it. I invested
in random stocks that I "thought" would be successful and didn't think much of it, until I went for it.
With all the penalties in mind, I tried my best to keep my account updated, so that it wouldn't go
back too far behind, but the more that I tried fixing my account, the worse I found myself.
Playing the stock market game taught me how to invest through trading with stocks among
companies. I believe that it would give me insight in the future when I'm dealing with real–life
investments giving me the knowledge of buying, selling, shorting, and covering. Using actual
money rather than theoretical money seems quite scary when it's lost whenever it's unpredictable
where the money will end up. In my opinion, I think that the main purpose of the game is to
demonstrate the reality of stocks and how they function. Even though the game was fake, it gave
me real worries about the chances that I could have made either losing it or winning it. Although I
did not win, it did give the experiences that I need for my daily life. I should instead go with my

A Stitch Through Time
A Stitch Through Time Before the quilting machine was created, each quilt was hand stitched
together. Cave tenants strived to stay warm by wrapping themselves with animal skins; they used
the advantage of joining fur together to form larger blankets. In time, one of them observed an
animal bone on the terrain and thought to use it as a tool to thread together various furs. Undergoing
many changes, the needle changed dramatically, from a bone to iron, from iron to steel, and from
steel to other metals that lend themselves to elevated levels of modification. The needle is an
essential tool that allows the creation of exceedingly complicated garments for much of the cultured
world. On the other hand, its capability was long restricted to the...show more content...
Factory workers were so worried that the sewing machine would put them out of employment that a
fuming crowd smashed the eighty machines. This caused for a setback in additional study of the
sewing machine for many years. An American named Walter Hunt was yet another innovator of the
sewing machine. In 1834, he devised the machine that utilized an eye–pointed needle and a moving
shuttle. Neil Schlager and Josh Lauer inform how Walter Hunt "failed to patent it at that time and
when he tried later to get it registered, he was rejected on the basis of 'product abandonment'."
Isaac Merrit Singer was the largest and most successful name in the patent pool. Ten years later, he
started working at a machine shop in Boston on 1851. When he was asked to repair a sewing
machine, he came up with a better machine that he sold through his own company. All of which
these innovators had in common, was the fact that they were still using the needle. One of the most
important yet least discussed parts of the machine is the needle. Machine needles have a hole on the
same end as the point. Opposite to the needlepoint is the shank, the top of the needle, which is
connected to the machine. Underneath the needle is called the shaft. While others are completely
round, the needles that have a flat side on the shank are the universal needle. The scarf is the rut
along the shaft and the back of a cutaway portion precisely around the opening. There is a diversity
of needle dimensions,

Most people today are aware of the use of car tracking devices to locate lost vehicles. The
technology involves a microchip on the vehicle that transmits vehicle location and other data such as
speed and loading. Similar technology is in use by conservationists who wish to track specific
animals to understand their behavior (Jackson 2016). The conservationists capture the animal and
attach a microchip on some part of the creature. When they need to do a comparison after some time,
they recapture the animal and download the information therein. On the human front, microchip
technology is in use in bank ATM cards, staff identification cards and electronic national
identification cards.
The identification cards contain biometric data about the owner, eliminating the need to capture the
same every time the person comes across a control point. These cards save the government agencies
in need of the information a lot of time in isolating persons of interest, especially in these days of
terrorism and international crime. For the card owners and travel agencies, it saves valuable time
that they can use on other productive activities. These benefits of electronic identification are the
subject of the debate on the possible future use of identity chips on human beings to ease the
increasing need for instant information

Movie Analysis : Lilo And Stitch
Lilo and Stitch is a Disney animated movie that was released in 2002. It is set in Hawaii, and
concentrates on a strong family ideal, revolving around a family unit of two orphaned sisters,
Lilo and Nani. Even though ages were not mentioned directly in the movie, Lilo seems to be around
5 or 6 years old, and Nani around 18 or 19 years old. Their parents died in a car accident, and
judging by their lack of change in appearance in a family photo that is referenced throughout the
movie, and Lilo's memories she shares, it seems to be a recent tragedy. In the movie, they are
referred to as a "broken family," and instead of the tragedy happening during the movie, we enter
their lives during the transition period following the tragedy, where Nani is trying very hard to
compensate for the loss of their parents and provide for Lilo while being visited by a social
worker to determine if it is fit for Lilo to stay with Nani. While all of this transition and family
struggle is happening, they go to adopt a pet at the local shelter and instead find themselves
adopting an alien (even though they think it is a dog) who they name Stitch, and earlier in the
movie is shown to be an experiment by an alien scientist and is programmed to destroy. For the
purposes of this paper, we will not be going into detail about Stitch as an alien, and instead
focusing on the family unit of Lilo and Nani, and their transition from being in a standard nuclear
family to being just the two of them lacking parental figures. As individuals, you can see where
Lilo and Nani are having a hard time coexisting in their new roles. Lilo is lashing out at both her
peers, who reject her for being different, and Nani, and is seen to be behaving abnormally for a
girl her age. She makes voodoo dolls, listens to Elvis, and takes photos of overweight tourists
which is not really relevant to the plot, but shows another level of her curious and abnormal
personality. She knows that her family is broken, because she mentions it to Stitch when she adopts
him. She is a very observant child, and seems to understand situations and life at a much more
mature level than her age. Lilo also says during the movie that she prefers Nani as a sister than as a
mom, which

"Structured Procrastination," the author speaks in a positive tone, and almost supports

Case Study: On-Site Childcare
On–site Childcare
Introduction
Employees' are struggling to find the right balance between employment and family. Dual–income
and single–parent households are leaving their children in low–quality, unreliable childcare that
doesn't meet the satisfaction children need to develop, and this ends up causes parents to be
stressed and less productive at their job. Employers are taking steps to help employees with young
children to either prove on–site childcare, or by proposing a Flexible spending account (FSA) to
assist with childcare expenses. Quality childcare is not only important for the child, it will provide
employers reliable employees which affects their bottom line of the company. Childcare and the
employer role Today, a majority...show more content...
The groups are identified as; Group I, has children that utilized the on–site childcare. Group II, didn't
have children, and Group III, has children but used other childcare arrangements. The first survey
was to determine if employees who utilized the on–site childcare found they had less absenteeism
than other employees. The results are, Group I (on–site users) and Group II (no children) had
significant less absenteeism than Group III. Employees who used the on–site childcare reduced their
number of days absent. However, some reported that their days had increased because of a sick
child. The on–site childcare doesn't allow sick children. If employers is truly interested in this
benefit then there needs to be alternative so employees will be able to know their child is in good
hands and still be able to go to work.
Job satisfaction The three groups reported no significant difference job satisfaction; however, 62%
of the people surveyed had a perception that the on–site childcare enhanced their job satisfaction.
Employers that had no children and we planning on starting a family within a couple of years noted

Essay On Stitch In Time Saves Nine

  • 1. Essay about It was All a Dream It was a dark and rainy night; it was just another usual time of the day for Jake. As he was walking he stumbled upon a motionless body. As he approached the body it shivered and he was startled. Jake just looked at it one more time before he heard sirens and started running. Once Jake got home he goes back to the usual yelling and screaming from his mom. He made it to his room, yet not feeling the same. He started asking himself many questions, about what he just saw, but he just layed in bed and waited to get sleepy. When Jake woke up he had gotten an unusual feeling. As he was walking to school in the bright morning he went to the spot he had found the body, it wasn't there anymore, but he just continued walking. Once he got to...show more content... He said "Umm, I was just walking through the neighborhood and I happened to see it on the floor''. Officer Smith knew that what he just said sounded like a lie, so he went outside to talk with his partner while Jake was still in there. All Jake could think of was what he would do. Both of the officers came in the room and said, "We have to keep you in here for tomorrow, it's getting late and we don't want you out there on your own. Spend the night here.'' They put him in a cell and he falls asleep. He wakes up the next morning, in a hospital bed. His mom is standing right next to him. Then a doctor comes in and says "Hello Jake, do you have any idea of what has happened to you?'' Jake shakes his head in confusion, the doctor continues "Well about a month ago you got in a car wreck with what I suppose was a couple of your friends, I am sorry to tell you this, but none of them survived. You were in a coma, and even I, from all my years of experience, never thought that you would wake up from it''. Jake layed there, thinking about the dream he just had. He stared right into the doctor's eyes, with the news he just received he felt horrible. Jake spoke up "What has happened during the month that I was gone?''. His mom yelled at him saying "You missed graduation day! Your girlfriend moved about a week after your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Internet Saves Time In an age of digital media and innovation, society is producing some of the smartest brains in history. This, in part, is due to all the positive benefits of having the internet. It is aiding us to become more intellectual, and pointing towards a more advanced world. There are many theories as to how this is true, but a few brief reasons clearly that it allows humans to waste less time, share ideas, and that it is supported by historic events along with worldwide observations. Above all, the use of internet simply saves time. As opposed to physical tools of education such as books, the internet is quickly available to all and provide access to things such as ebooks and online school. Some citizens in our nation have families and other large responsibilities, and therefore having no time to physically go to college. Online school saves them the time it would take to drive to a campus and leave their family. This is significant because it shows that with online school provided from the internet, education becomes available to people who otherwise might not have an opportunity to get any. It is known that many great minds are often busy and the internet helps to save time by allowing people to stop worrying about little things. This is because so much information is available at our fingertips. With the introduced digital age, we also save time worrying about the environment since technology saves a great deal of paper. One example of how the internet saves time is one that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Time Essay Time Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks. We plan our day around different times of the day. Time tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and how long to do things for. If time were based on these simple terms, then this mysterious enigma would not be in debate. There are the issues of space and time; what is the relationship...show more content... When space and the universe began, the existence of time also began. This theory is well–known as the Big Bang Theory. About fifteen billion years ago, the universe was comprised of very hot compressed gas, as a fireball. This is contrary to the idea of the universe beginning as a lump of matter somewhere in the void of space. Matter was created as a result of the Big Bang. Space and time was also created. So, with these ideas, time had a beginning. Looking at it a different way, in the early universe, the normal concept of time is uncertain. Our accepted perceptions, and calculations of time can't be explained all the way back to the Big Bang. There is no way to define time in that era. This is another way that time has a beginning; as far back as we can calculate. Space–time began at the same time. According to Hawking, you can't look at the universe using general relativity without finding a big bang or something similar to that at the very beginning. So what does time mean to people now? Time is different as you go through time zones. Everyone has their own perception of time. Nobody is ever on the same schedule, doing things exactly like another person. Even to go as far as other galaxies and planets, time cannot be existing on the same terms. In short, time is not absolute. In the space–time continuum, space bends whenever there is a mass. It's kind of like a bowling ball hitting a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Movie Analysis : Lilo And Stitch The movie Lilo and Stitch is a movie that addresses the struggle people face with feeling alone. A heavy topic for a children's movie, and one I never really thought about all the times I have watched it. Lilo and Stitch was the first movie I ever saw in theatres and so it holds a special place in my heart for that reason, but I think also connected to the movie on a deeper level. The story centers around Lilo, a 6 year old girl from Hawaii with a big imagination, who is now in the custody of her older sister, Nani, after their parents died in a car accident. Stitch appears in the movie after Lilo prays for a friends, so to Lilo, Stitch the rogue aline is an angel sent from heaven. By analyzing the movie through it's characters, one can...show more content... There is nothing in the movie to suggest that this is wrong or that she is overweight. Nani is a regular woman who is put in a really hard situation. I grew up with the movie and I have watched it so many times (likely 100 or more). It never occurred to me that Nani looked different or wrong. I didn't even notice this was an element of the movie until I saw a post about it on Pinterest. One thing I have been told is that 'nobody notices if something is different if what they perceive to be is normal. ( an example most people don't day they just notice when something is different and part of them thinks it's wrong. I grew up with this movie and never saw anything wrong with Nani, I would argue this movie made me see a body image like Nani's to be normal and acceptable. Another major characteristic of Nani is her continuous support of Lilo's imagination. There are so many instances in the movie where Nani makes sure not to harm Lilo's imagination. One of the best examples is when Nani gets fired from her Job. Nanii gets fired from her job because Stitch was being disruptive and attacked a customer, but what she says is completely different: Lilo: Did you lose your job because of Stitch and me? Nani: Nah. The manager 's a vampire. He wanted me to join his legion of the undead. Lilo: I knew it! Another more subtle example happens in the first scene of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Although this song has to do with bad heartbreaks that sometimes lead to depression and self–harm, it is important to learn how to forgive. Going through a bad heartbreak can lead to depression and self–harm, but it's important to understand that the pain won't last forever. In the song "Stitches", Shawn Mendes mentions "but I know that I'll make it out alive, if I quit calling you my lover, move on", meaning that if he forgives his ex–girlfriend he will be able to have peace within himself. After the heartbreak Shawn went through depression which was easy for him to fall into self–harm. In this song, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On Daylight Saving Time Many adolescents and adults alike enjoy sleeping even though they do not get that much of it. People across the world wake up wishing they had just one more hour of sleep. Whenever daylight saving time (not plural) rolls around in the spring the hour lost is always dreaded even though it is balanced by the hour that is gained. Matt Schiavenza from The Atlantic says, "...Americans lose around 40 minutes of sleep on the Sunday night after the shift" (Schiavenza). Daylight saving time or DST is considered useless by many Americans and should be abolished. Americans do not dislike DST for no apparent reason. There are various studies and statistics backing the sheer uselessness of DST as well as it's negative and harmful effects. Daylight savings time was originally created to decrease the cost of lighting and it is argued that this is the reason it is even kept around today. Keeping daylight savings in more recent years has caused more problems than it has fixed. Daylight savings causes many complications such as increased numbers of stroke and heart attack the week after and decreased productivity at work. DST did have an actual valid reason for its creation despite its uselessness nowadays. Since the first light source was created there has always been a cost attached to lighting. Whether this cost is the cost of wax or the cost of electricity, the cost has always been there. DSTs first implementation in the United States was to lower this cost because the shift of time would lead to more light during the hours that people work and are awake. Though there were and are other reasons for creating DST, this was the main driving factor. The idea for DST is credited to Benjamin Franklin where he wrote about the idea in a 1784 essay titled, "An Economical Project" (webexhibits.org). According to Jeffrey Kluger of Time.com, it was not until 1905 that someone actually pushed to create a DST. This all began with William Willett, who had the idea while riding his horse early one morning. This led to the first implementation of DST in England. It was not until 1918, during World War I, that DST was first implemented in the United States and was soon after repealed until World War II (Kluger). They both live together without their parents in Hawaii, but them being separated from their parents does not mean they are not a family. Lilo states in the movie "Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. This means that families will always be there even when we are separated. A family comes from all different shapes and sizes whether just being the only child or having brothers and sisters. The definition of a family is love because we care for one another, supporting each other, and help one another no matter what. First, the definition of family is for everyone to care for one another. When we care for our family we are taking care of them when they are sick, or stick by their side when something bad happened. Care can also mean to be protective of a family member, whether babysitting, or watching someone that is sick. Family members are very attached to each other when someone gets hurt or just very cautious of what everyone does. • 9. Lilo And Stitch : Analysis Lilo and Stitch: Lilo Character Analysis
Lilo and stitch is about a young girl growing up on an island in Hawaii. Lilo is an eccentric six year old, she recently lost her parents to an accident and is now being raised by her older sister Nani. Lilo does not socialize well and because of this Nani decides to adopt a pet for her sister. They end up adopting what they both believe is a dog but is actually an alien refugee named Stitch (experiment 626). The story continues to show the struggle the three face while continuing to grow as a family and overcome their challenges. Analyzing Lilo it is cleared that she may suffers from multiple mental and personality disorders due to the fact that she does not socialize well with others and the stress that she suffered from loosing her parents (DeBlois, 2002).
It is assumed that Lilo lost her parents within the previous year because of this I believe that a great deal of her issues may directly correlate with this event. Although it is not shown if she has nightmare or intrusive memories, she references back to her parents in agony for their lost. She is clearly in distress and it is effecting her emotional growth. During the film Nani's ability to raise Lilo is questioned. As you look around the house in multiple scenes, situations such as; a blender being plugged in on the ground, scissors left laying around and even a pot left unattended burning on the stove can be scene. On several occasions Nani even leaves Lilo unattended at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Synthesis Essay On Daylight Saving Time Most American citizens native to mainland United States are accustomed to a familiar pattern of springing their clocks forward an hour in March and setting their clocks backward an hour in November. This pattern of lifestyle is regulated by the federal government and is widely adopted by many, for daylight savings poses a plethora of benefits for society. In order to maintain optimal efficiency as a nation, the federal government should continue to practice daylight savings time because obtaining an extra hour of sunlight has social, environmental, and economic advantages. Daylight savings time poses an array of social benefits, including crime reduction and road safety. The diminution of crime is affected by daylight savings, for people tend to feel safer in the daylight and many crimes are believed to be influenced by lighting...show more content... This knowledge has been evident since 1942 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a year round daylight savings time to conserve energy during World War II. This set the precedent for other states to adopt a similar change after the termination of the war in 1945 (Source A). The second World War was a time in history where resources were scarce and conservation of energy was critical because any surplus energy went towards the soldiers fighting overseas. Although today our society's circumstance is not as dire, the notion to save energy still persists, and it is conclusive that daylight savings time would be even more successful during today's time of relative peace. Studies also show that "America's electricity usage is reduced by about one percent each day that daylight savings time is in effect." (Source B). This one percent reduction per day makes a significant imprint on conservation when viewed at the end of daylight savings time. Overall, an extra month of synthetic sunshine is a key factor in saving energy and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Making Good Choices By: Keria Owens Making choices can affect any and everything in your life whether it's dealing with your family or just everyday situations. Everyone in life is faced with good and bad choices that can either have a good outcome on your life or it can make a turn for the worst. Yes, everyone wants to make good choices in life. But does that always happen? Nine times out of ten know. Recently, I made a bad choice that affected my life in numerous ways for instance when I got caught shoplifting my parents looked down on me as if I was this thief. I'm very embarrassed of my actions but there's nothing I can do to erase it I can only make this a learning experience and make better choices next time around. As teenagers...show more content... Often times it can be difficult if not impossible to make what you think at that moment will be the right choice. One of the biggest factors that will hold people back is that to too often than not we are not completely clear on what type of result or outcome we want from a situation. Think about it, if you don't really know what kind of result you want it is going to be pretty hard to know what choice is going to be the right one. So what do you do? You get a clear understanding, before you make any choice. Think about its effects in the long term, and short term. Knowing exactly what you want is very powerful. We have all heard the golden rule; do onto others as you would have them do onto you. This is probably one of the most important ideas to keep in mind when making good choices. When we are young a lot of us develop this me, me, me, attitude. We want all the toys, and we don't want to share. Now this mentality may get us a lot of toys, but it defiantly doesn't help you make friends. In this day and age a large part of personal success is based on working with others to achieve our goals. If we can help others get what they want, it will be much easier and they will be much more willing to help us get what we want. So when making any choice it is always ideal to think about how can I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, the best kind of movies to watch are comedy films since they allow many people to leave the Cinema feeling happy inside. Nonetheless, searching for a particular comedy movie like Shrek would be the best option to choose since they have a total of four movies previously released along with a new movie coming out in 2019. Yet the storyline of Shrek always keeps everyone entertained with the hilarious embarrassing moments as well as the nice songs, and happily ever after endings. Trailers seen on YouTube shows exactly how funny the movie Shrek actually is, however the easiest movie to remembered out of the rest would probably be Shrek from 2001. Family isn't that simple, however. From an early age, family is a huge part of our cognitive development, for they are our primary environment. That being said, it is inevitable that they impact us. Is it also inevitable to become them in some aspects, no matter how badly you wish not to? I've witnessed my mother spill over waterfalls of tears over the betrayal of her mother, and the way in which my older half–sister, Jessica, feels abandoned by her. And to my mother's horror, my sister found motherly comfort in her grandmother. My mom grew up in a family that came and went, in every way possible that a family could come and go. My grandmother's husbands came and went, although she seems to be happily settled with her fifth right now. Schools and friends came and went; my mother told me that she had only ever stayed at a school for longer than a year, in 8th grade. My mother's family was constantly moving between states, and among the troubles of moving so often and having no stability in life, certain traumas had occurred that left her feeling betrayed and abandoned when her mother had chosen to ignore it. My mother had my older sister Jessica when she was 18, with a different man from the father of both me and my little sister. "What makes art is its life – pulsing and shining with the energy and intentions of its creator. The art of quilting glows with a respect for all generations that have come before – putting thread, needle, and cloth together with vision and love" (Wilson 7). Starting out in antiquity as a necessity and a work of art, quilting has changed over time, but it is still practiced in a myriad of cultures around the world. Although there are many types of quilting, there are three common types identified as whole cloth, piecing, and appliquГ©. The whole cloth technique uses only one piece of white fabric for the top of the quilt –...show more content... Since the modern word "quilt" is derived from the Latin word culcitra, it is reasonable to assume that Romans who spoke Latin used quilted blankets. However, it was not until A.D. 1095 that Europeans gained undeviating access to the technologies of Asia and Africa, and the process of quilting became standard in Western Europe. Through their attack on Palestine, knights from England, France, and Italy were introduced to the Palestinians' light armor made of tough quilted jackets covered with chain mail, flexible armor made of metal links (Wilson 16–17). Quilting was introduced to America when the first settlers came in the Fifteenth Century. The first records of quilts in what would become the United States come from wills and estate papers of the 1600's. The oldest surviving American quilt is probably the Saltonstall quilt, made around 1704 (Breneman and Laurette). Many cultures have come together in the United States to include, for example, such world–noted quilt styles as Mexican–American, African–American, and Amish. It is not known exactly when the first pioneer woman introduced her quilting to the Spanish–American settlers, but star quilt patterns became an element of Spanish–American women's weaving quite early. Fabric became more available in the 1800's when the railroad arrived. Women found that they could make warm bed coverings much faster than weaving by sewing together scraps of fabric with an old blanket, with wool or cotton as filling. • 15. Personal Experience : The Stock Market Game Pages 1 and 2: Personal Experience Toward the beginning of the stock market game, I honestly did not know what I was doing, but I managed to remain in the Top 10 ranks, which made me feel like I was doing something right or correct. However, after finding out how the stock market actually worked, I began testing out some strategies such as short–selling and covering, but to my dismay, I wasn't very good at it. I invested in random stocks that I "thought" would be successful and didn't think much of it, until I went for it. With all the penalties in mind, I tried my best to keep my account updated, so that it wouldn't go back too far behind, but the more that I tried fixing my account, the worse I found myself. Playing the stock market game taught me how to invest through trading with stocks among companies. I believe that it would give me insight in the future when I'm dealing with real–life investments giving me the knowledge of buying, selling, shorting, and covering. Using actual money rather than theoretical money seems quite scary when it's lost whenever it's unpredictable where the money will end up. In my opinion, I think that the main purpose of the game is to demonstrate the reality of stocks and how they function. Even though the game was fake, it gave me real worries about the chances that I could have made either losing it or winning it. Although I did not win, it did give the experiences that I need for my daily life. I should instead go with my instincts Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. A Stitch Through Time A Stitch Through Time Before the quilting machine was created, each quilt was hand stitched together. Cave tenants strived to stay warm by wrapping themselves with animal skins; they used the advantage of joining fur together to form larger blankets. In time, one of them observed an animal bone on the terrain and thought to use it as a tool to thread together various furs. Undergoing many changes, the needle changed dramatically, from a bone to iron, from iron to steel, and from steel to other metals that lend themselves to elevated levels of modification. The needle is an essential tool that allows the creation of exceedingly complicated garments for much of the cultured world. On the other hand, its capability was long restricted to the...show more content... Factory workers were so worried that the sewing machine would put them out of employment that a fuming crowd smashed the eighty machines. This caused for a setback in additional study of the sewing machine for many years. An American named Walter Hunt was yet another innovator of the sewing machine. In 1834, he devised the machine that utilized an eye–pointed needle and a moving shuttle. Neil Schlager and Josh Lauer inform how Walter Hunt "failed to patent it at that time and when he tried later to get it registered, he was rejected on the basis of 'product abandonment'." Isaac Merrit Singer was the largest and most successful name in the patent pool. Ten years later, he started working at a machine shop in Boston on 1851. When he was asked to repair a sewing machine, he came up with a better machine that he sold through his own company. All of which these innovators had in common, was the fact that they were still using the needle. One of the most important yet least discussed parts of the machine is the needle. Machine needles have a hole on the same end as the point. Opposite to the needlepoint is the shank, the top of the needle, which is connected to the machine. Underneath the needle is called the shaft. While others are completely round, the needles that have a flat side on the shank are the universal needle. The scarf is the rut along the shaft and the back of a cutaway portion precisely around the opening. There is a diversity of needle dimensions, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Should Identity Chips Be Used For Humans? Running head: LIBRARY REPORT 1 Should Identity Chips be used for Humans? Nolan Jacobson National University LIBRARY REPORT 2 Should Identity Chips be used with Humans? Most people today are aware of the use of car tracking devices to locate lost vehicles. The technology involves a microchip on the vehicle that transmits vehicle location and other data such as speed and loading. Similar technology is in use by conservationists who wish to track specific animals to understand their behavior (Jackson 2016). The conservationists capture the animal and attach a microchip on some part of the creature. When they need to do a comparison after some time, they recapture the animal and download the information therein. On the human front, microchip technology is in use in bank ATM cards, staff identification cards and electronic national identification cards. The identification cards contain biometric data about the owner, eliminating the need to capture the same every time the person comes across a control point. These cards save the government agencies in need of the information a lot of time in isolating persons of interest, especially in these days of terrorism and international crime. For the card owners and travel agencies, it saves valuable time that they can use on other productive activities. These benefits of electronic identification are the subject of the debate on the possible future use of identity chips on human beings to ease the increasing need for instant information Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Movie Analysis : Lilo And Stitch Lilo and Stitch is a Disney animated movie that was released in 2002. It is set in Hawaii, and concentrates on a strong family ideal, revolving around a family unit of two orphaned sisters, Lilo and Nani. Even though ages were not mentioned directly in the movie, Lilo seems to be around 5 or 6 years old, and Nani around 18 or 19 years old. Their parents died in a car accident, and judging by their lack of change in appearance in a family photo that is referenced throughout the movie, and Lilo's memories she shares, it seems to be a recent tragedy. In the movie, they are referred to as a "broken family," and instead of the tragedy happening during the movie, we enter their lives during the transition period following the tragedy, where Nani is trying very hard to compensate for the loss of their parents and provide for Lilo while being visited by a social worker to determine if it is fit for Lilo to stay with Nani. While all of this transition and family struggle is happening, they go to adopt a pet at the local shelter and instead find themselves adopting an alien (even though they think it is a dog) who they name Stitch, and earlier in the movie is shown to be an experiment by an alien scientist and is programmed to destroy. For the purposes of this paper, we will not be going into detail about Stitch as an alien, and instead focusing on the family unit of Lilo and Nani, and their transition from being in a standard nuclear family to being just the two of them lacking parental figures. As individuals, you can see where Lilo and Nani are having a hard time coexisting in their new roles. Lilo is lashing out at both her peers, who reject her for being different, and Nani, and is seen to be behaving abnormally for a girl her age. She makes voodoo dolls, listens to Elvis, and takes photos of overweight tourists which is not really relevant to the plot, but shows another level of her curious and abnormal personality. She knows that her family is broken, because she mentions it to Stitch when she adopts him. She is a very observant child, and seems to understand situations and life at a much more mature level than her age. Lilo also says during the movie that she prefers Nani as a sister than as a mom, which Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Dual–income and single–parent households are leaving their children in low–quality, unreliable childcare that doesn't meet the satisfaction children need to develop, and this ends up causes parents to be stressed and less productive at their job. Employers are taking steps to help employees with young children to either prove on–site childcare, or by proposing a Flexible spending account (FSA) to assist with childcare expenses.
