 Right to Education(RTE Act) is an act
of the Parliament of India enacted on 4
August 2009.
 It comes under Article 21A of the
Indian Constitution.
 It comes into the force on 1 April
2010. It ensures the quality education
to all.
RTE ACT

 The main objective of RTE is to
give free and compulsory
education for all children between
the age group of 6 and 14 years.
 It ensures the admission,
attendance and completion of
elementary education to all
children in the 6-14 age group.
Objectives of RTE

 No child shall be held back, expelled
until the completion of elementary
education.
 Child shall be admitted in a class
appropriate to his age.
 Financial burden will be shared by
the state and central government.

 RTE act states 8 important factors
about the curriculum and evaluation
procedure (section 29).
 It ensures the child-centered
curriculum for elementary school
education that spelt out in the National
Policy on Education.
 Pedagogical approaches should be
child centered.
RTE act Curriculum
and Pedagogy

 Conformity with Constitutional
values.
 All round development of the
child.
 Building the child’s knowledge,
potentiality and talent.
Eight Factors

 Development of physical and the
mental abilities.
 Child-Centered learning through
activities.
 Mother tongue as a medium of
instruction.

 Helping the child to express views
freely and making the child free of
fear, trauma and anxiety.
 Comprehensive and Continuous
Evaluation( CCE ) OF child’s
activities.

The role of a teacher in RTE act is to
be a facilitator.
 Teachers should put in 45 working
hours per week.
 School teachers should have
professional degree within five years
or else will lose job.
 Fixed student teacher ratio.

RTE Act and Its Relationship With Curriculum, Pedagogy and Teachers

  • 2.   Right to Education(RTE Act) is an act of the Parliament of India enacted on 4 August 2009.  It comes under Article 21A of the Indian Constitution.  It comes into the force on 1 April 2010. It ensures the quality education to all. RTE ACT
  • 3.   The main objective of RTE is to give free and compulsory education for all children between the age group of 6 and 14 years.  It ensures the admission, attendance and completion of elementary education to all children in the 6-14 age group. Objectives of RTE
  • 4.   No child shall be held back, expelled until the completion of elementary education.  Child shall be admitted in a class appropriate to his age.  Financial burden will be shared by the state and central government.
  • 5.   RTE act states 8 important factors about the curriculum and evaluation procedure (section 29).  It ensures the child-centered curriculum for elementary school education that spelt out in the National Policy on Education.  Pedagogical approaches should be child centered.   • 6.   Conformity with Constitutional values.  All round development of the child.  Building the child’s knowledge, potentiality and talent. Eight Factors
  • 7.   Development of physical and the mental abilities.  Child-Centered learning through activities.  Mother tongue as a medium of instruction.
  • 8.   Helping the child to express views freely and making the child free of fear, trauma and anxiety.  Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation( CCE ) OF child’s activities.
  • 9.  The role of a teacher in RTE act is to be a facilitator.  Teachers should put in 45 working hours per week.  School teachers should have professional degree within five years or else will lose job.  Fixed student teacher ratio. ROLE OF TEACHERS
