REGULATION

the high standards already set by
the Isle of Man Financial Services
Authority (IOMFSA) put the island

In November 2017, the OECD

information, a level only achieved

The Isle of Man is just over
an hour’s flight time away
from London.
NUMBER ONE CHOICE
The Isle of Man is a popular choice
for offshore life insurance, due to
strict investor protection laws.
The Insurance Act 2008 requires
all insurance companies in the
Isle of Man to ring-fence 100%
of policyholder assets. Under
law, in the unlikely event that a
life company is unable to meet
its liabilities, investors can claim
90% of the value of their policy
through the IOMFSA, who manage
the scheme.
RL360 is an active member of
the Manx Insurance Association,
which works with Government to
raise the profile of the industry
and promote positive change.

It all started in 1991
In 1991 Scottish Provident
International was founded on
the Isle of Man. Five years later
Scottish Life International was
formed.
Merged interests
In 2008 these two offshore life
companies merged together to
become Royal London 360°.
Management-led buyout
Five years later, the senior team
made history by completing a
management-led buyout – the
first of its kind for an international
life business - giving RL360 the
financial strength and stability to
pursue its ambitious strategy. The
company was rebranded RL360
under IFGL.
