2. THE ARMY
• Mission: prepare men´s strength to defend
the independence, sovereignty and
territorial integrity.
• In Peru all male citizens between the ages of
18 and 25 are liable for military training and
compulsory military service
• Commander in chief: General Ricardo
Moncada Novoa.

3. THE NAVY
• Mission: surveillance, patrol and defense on
lakes, rivers and the Pacific Ocean up to 200
miles.
• Commander-in-Chief: Admiral Carlos Tejada
Mera.
• Divided in:
- Pacific Operations General Command
- Amazon Operations General Command
- General Direction of Peruvian Coast Guard

4. THE AIR FORCE
• Mission: defend the nation and its interests
through the use of air power.
• Commander –in-chief: General Jaime Marin
Figueroa Olivos.
• Operational units are organized in 4 air wings:
- Wing 1: Piura
- Wing 2: Callao
- Wing 3: Arequipa
- Wing 4: Iquitos

5. POLICE FORCE: PNP
• Formed by the Investigative Police, the Civil
Guard and the Republic Guard.
• Mission: preserve domestic order, public
order, and national security.
• Controlled by the Peruvian Interior Ministry.
• Some divisions:
- DINOES (Special Operations)
- DINANDRO (Anti-Narcotics Unit)
- DININCRI (Criminal Investigations)
- DIRCOTE (Anti-Terrorism)
