1. WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS
OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. Blogger
The establishment of the blog was the first
way in which Idiscovered new technologies.
The use Blogger allowed me to present my
posts in a creative way as we could insert
videos, Prezis, podcasts and PowerPoints.
I also learnt how to change the font styles and
that by using blogger it is another way to
interact and engage with the audience.
3. Flip camera
For mu preliminary task and my audience
research and planning I used a flip camera which
was extremely useful as its USB meant that the
videos and files could be uploaded straight onto
the Macs rather then having to use fire wire.
The quality of the camera was quite poor but it
was only used to improve my knowledge and
ability of using camera angles to create meaning
and fit the conventions of the thriller genre.
4. Sony DV camera
During production I originally used the Sony
DV cameras which gave me a much higher
quality image in comparison to the flips
however they took a much longer time to
upload any footage.
I learnt how to insert/remove DV tape into
the computer. The quality of the sound and
visuals was very good quality and this creates
authenticity as the video appears to be more
professional.
5. Canon EOS500d
I then moved on to using the Canon EOS500d
which gave the video a far more professional
quality due to its high resolution.
Firstly I learnt how to record and take still
images with the camera.The professional
nature of the camera also meant that I could
upload footage much faster and still give you
a very good quality visual.
6. Post-production
When editing my media product I used a number
of new software such as final cut pro and IMovie .
Originally I struggled to use these editing tools
but after research into how to best utilise them I
feel as though I have created a successful thriller
opening which meets the conventions of a
thriller film.
Through the use of IMovie I learnt to import and
export footage. I also learnt how to insert text,
transitions, music and how to cut and clip
footage.
7. YouTube
I usedYouTube to upload our preliminary
task, audience feedback, our rough-cut and
the final cut of our thriller ‘Hostage’.
I also learnt to annotate videos which we had
posted which allowed me to explain how a
certain scene creates meaning and how our
thriller fitted in with the genres conventions.
