2. SYNOPSIS
In London, solicitor Arthur Kipps still grieves the death of his beloved wife
Stella on the delivery of their son Joseph four years ago. His employer gives
him a last chance to keep his job, and he is assigned to travel to the remote
village of Cryphin Gifford to examine the documentation of the Eel Marsh
House that belonged to the recently deceased Mrs. Drablow. Arthur
befriends Daily on the train and the man offers a ride to him to the Gifford
Arms inn. Arthur has a cold reception and the owner of the inn tells that he
did not receive the request of reservation and there is no available room. The
next morning, Arthur meets solicitor Jerome who advises him to return to
London. However, Arthur goes to the isolated manor and soon he finds that
Eel Marsh House is haunted by the vengeful ghost of a woman dressed in
black. He also learns that the woman lost her son drowned in the marsh and
she seeks revenge, taking the children of the scared locals

Susan Hill was born on February 5, 1942 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England as Susan Elizabeth Hill. She is a writer and producer,
known for The Woman in Black (2012), The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death (2014) and The Woman in Black (1989). She is also
responsible for writing the book of this film which was later adapted into a stage show which ultimately became a block buster
film.
Jane Goldman was born on June 11, 1970 in England. She is a producer and writer, known for Kick-Ass (2010), Kingsman: The
Secret Service (2014) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). This writer shows a variety of genres within her work but has also
been particularly successful when writing for the horror and superhero action genre.

REVIEWS
The woman in black generally received
positive reviews from critics as they all
remarked that the film was frightening
and conformed to most genre
conventions of horror and overall
received a 66% positive rating from
critics.

generally once again gave it
positive feedback although some
were critical of the special effects
used considering that this film had
such a large budget. However

impressed by the gothic nature of
the film and how it been adapted

The woman in black stars extremely well known actor Daniel Radcliffe who is the best
known for his appearances within the Harry Potter franchise. Therefore many people
who are familiar with his role in this film will want to see his acting ability be tested
in a different type of film genre as opposed to fantasy and see his performance
within a horror film. Audience member who are just a fan of Daniel Radcliffe in
general may wish to see this film because he has the starring role and therefore this
film would have been able to expand its audience from fans of the horror genre
alongside those who are a fan of this actor.

Ciarán Hinds was chosen to star in this film due to the fact that he is already
well known for his appearances on stage and television. Audiences who may
have seen him on either of these things such as Game of Thrones or Jane
Eyre may wish to see him in this film because they are a fan of his work and
are familiar with his ability as an actor and want to see it in this new release.
Ciarán Hinds is also another actor who has starred in the Harry Potter series.
This will help to attract an audience as those who are fans of the Harry Potter
franchise will acknowledge that there is two actors from the films within this
new film and therefore feel more inclined to watch it so they can see their

budgets and performed well in box office sales and are best known
for their films that focus on ghost or murder stories.
