Behaviour that Challenges Us and Dementia Training Courses is a theory based course that explores behavior in service users with dementia that may challenge support staff with their roles and duties. It give a great insight to care workers of what behaviors could be expected and how to effectively manage those behaviors. The course can last between 3 and 6 hours and a certificate of attendance will be issued upon completion. The course can be provided at one of our training centres or at a location better suited to your staff and the course can be tailor made to meet the any specific training needs that you might have.

A theory based course exploring behaviour in service users with dementia that may
challenge care staff within their role and duties. The course involves some group work and
gives carers an excellent insight into why behaviours may happen and how to manage
those behaviours.

Aggression / Destruction / Frustration / Threatening

Mental health problems / Lack of communication skills / Lack of social skills / Lack of
understanding from the service user & the carer’s

Give time / Give understanding / Try different approaches / Understand the different stages
of Dementia & type of Dementia
What is Dementia?
What it may feel like to have Dementia / Alzheimer’s disease / Dementia with Lewy bodies
/ Rarer causes of Dementia / Vascular Disease

Assessment:
The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment during the course
Certification:
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance
