This module has been developed for individuals working in a wide variety of health and social
care settings, it provides learners with the knowledge and skills required to promote and
implement health and safety.
On completion, learners will have an increased understanding of their own responsibilities
and the responsibilities of others, relating to health and safety in the work setting. The module
provides learners with the required knowledge to prevent the spread of infection promote fire
safety and know how to handle hazardous substances and materials.

• Understand procedures for responding to accidents & sudden illness.
• Be able to prevent the spread of infection.

• Be able to promote fire safety in the work setting.
• Be able to implement security measures in the work setting.
• Know how to manage stress.
