2. To begin with, if you ask students
to open the textbook on a certain
page and look at their faces, then
you will notice reluctance,
boredom, and monotony.
But, if you make use of authentic
supplimentary materials and
deliver the content in a creative
way, then you will create
motivation and generate deeper
learning.
WHY ADAPTING TEXTBOOKS
4. Purpose of a textbook
• A textbook can serve different purposes for
• teachers:
• (a) a core resource,
• (b) a source of supplementary material,
• (c) an inspiration for classroom activities, and
• (d) a curriculum itself
5. However, we should also
remeber that textbooks
are only ONE source of
information among many
others, it is up to the
teachers to adapt the
process, delivery and
content to meet the needs
of the students.
18. TACKLE ISSUES AS LIFE
ISSUES
AFTER STUDYIG THE LESSON about
bullying in class we celebrated the
NATIONAL week against bullying, we
campaigned, we had silent shows, wrote
scenarios, and published a site about our
school activity.
As a second step we shared the content
with ibnou Sina Secondary School after
Mrs Mona had the same attitude about
the same issue. We inspired each other to
handle bullying better.
