In 1950, most cars did not even have seat belts installed. Today, 80% of American drivers claim to wear seat belts. In 1970, there were virtually no restrictions on smoking in public places. Today, 37 states have some form of smoking ban. In 1965 nearly half of American adults smoked. Today, 20%. 50 years ago, our parents and grandparents were throwing everything in the trash. Today, kids are policing their parents and making sure bottles and cans go into the proper receptacles.
