data in either hospitals or physician specialty groups is they are very helpful. It is also
inexpensive and provides individuals with the platform to provide responses that are their
honest opinions. Participants are able to build on other participants ideas by
“piggybacking”. Focus groups are useful in needs assessments and evaluation of projects by
gathering individuals and asking them about their attitudes towards an idea, concept or
product. These questions are normally open-ended and the facilitator steers the focus back
to the discussions. This environment helps with the interaction of participant.student 2)
bre’onnaIn my opinion, using focus groups to gather qualitative data in healthcare units will
be an effective technique, because these group members can give insights about the
healthcare services, methods and treatments, and behaviors or attitudes of the staff
members and physicians. Whereas, physician specialty groups may hide their flaws and
only focus on what doesn’t affect their power. For unbiased and genuine research and study,
I would prefer focus groups with consideration of all the areas of the units.
