A letter of application
1 Put the paragraphs of this job application letter in order.
A As you will see from my CV, I have also had invaluable experience of working on an internet radio station during the holidays.
Working as a volunteer at XP Radio has given me the chance to see all different aspects of the radio industry, and to demonstrate
that I am both reliable and hard-working.

• Write a formal letter to your local council applying for a job as a volunteer at a local music festival.
• Apply for the job of Student Film Reviewer, which you have seen advertised on a university website.

Brainstorm your ideas. What information do you need to include in the two main paragraphs? Make notes in your notebook.

Which of the following are appropriate ways to open and close if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to?

Write your letter. Don’t forget to check that you have used formal language.
