Outline of Documentary
Sehrish, Bronte and Humzah
The ‘Introduction’
At the start, we’re going to have a voice over relaying facts
about the laws for people with physical disabilities in
educational institutions.
While this is playing, we will have inserts and cutaways of
footage that we have taken from the main documentary which
visually indicates to the audience what the documentary is
about. For example, the subject laughing with her friends or
following them around college, as well as a brief clip of the
experts.
The introduction will finish with the main question, which will
be a voice over with visual images regarding the topic – “Do
educational institutions truly meet the needs of physically
disabled?”
The ‘Middle’
After our introduction, we will introduce the subject focus of our documentary. We will then cut to
a shot of the subject introducing themselves and explaining their physical disability.
The camera will then cut to our focus getting to college, to demonstrate their mode of transport
and the difference between how they do it compared to (pans) of other students walking normally
to college.
Following this, we will film the subject coming into Solihull Sixth Form College and get various
shot of them getting around and going to their lesson. Whilst this is happening the film maker will
ask the occasional question from behind the camera. We will end this section with a shot of the
subject going into their lesson a then focusing the camera on a disabled sign.
The voiceover will then introduce the voxpop and there will be questions on the topic of our
documentary – while this happens, there will be short cutaways of disability symbols around the
college while they are talking.
Next we will show the voxpops and cut between different questions. We will then go back to the
subject, and ask them whether they think the educational institutions really meet the needs of the
physically disability. We will then cut to an expert talking about their opinion on whether, the
Solihull Sixth Form college meets the needs of the physically disability, so that the audience gets
to see different opinions.
The ‘End’
We then go to an interviewer of an employee who has a disability; we
will ask her questions about regarding the access of the college. After
this, we will cut to the individual having a problem of some form. Then
we will finish with a voice over ‘coming up next’ and cut to a small
visual of the expert interview.
