When should you rewrite content? SEO editing versus SEO copywriting

  1. 1. SEO editing vs. copywriting for SEO
  2. 2. Keyphrase editing: The writer adds SEO keywords to existing text. The content is NOT rewritten. Some companies call this “optimizing” the text or “SEO copyediting.” Sometimes, the Title and meta description is also edited. SEO copywriting: The writer creates original content, and weave in keyphrases, synonyms and related words. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
  3. 3. WHEN IS IT OK TO EDIT PAGES?  If you already love the content.  When the page isn’t crucial to the sales process. For instance: articles, old blog posts, press releases and FAQ pages.  If the time on page or bounce rate isn’t too high. An SEO content editor or SEO copywriter typically handles the keyphrase editing.
  4. 4. WHEN SHOULD YOU WRITE ORIGINAL CONTENT, INSTEAD?  When the page is crucial to the sales process (for instance, the home page, subcategory pages or product pages.)  When the page is a duplicate (for instance, a local landing page.)  When page conversions/time on page is low. Editing will help a page position – but it won’t help boost conversions. SEO copywriters or SEO content strategists typically rewrite or create original content.
