RAINWATER HARVESTING
3. Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and storage of rainwater from roads for reuse
before it reaches the Aquifer . rainwater harvesting provides an independent water
supply during regional water restrictions, and in developed countries is often used to
supplement the mains supply. Rainwater harvesting systems are appealing as they are
easy to understand, install and operate . Rainwater harvesting ARE OF 2 TYPES

4. The rainwater that falls on tarred roads around the building can
be collected and stored by this technique. The percolation pit
covered with concrete slabs are constucted on road .Rainwater
falling on road goes into these pit through the hole . After
filtraization in the percolation pit ,rainwater gradually enters
the recharge well and seeps into the soil.
5. Over the years rising populations, growing industrialization, and
expanding agriculture have pushed up the demand for water.
Worldwide, agriculture accounts for 70% of all water
consumption, compared to 20% for industry and 10% for domestic use. In
industrialized nations, however, industries consume more than half of
the water available for human use. If we continue this kind of use there
will we no more water left for future. So the need of conservation
arises.the best and the easiest way of water conservation is roadside
rainwater harvesting. . Consider this: for every inch of rain that falls on
one square foot of surface, a roadside rainwater harvesting system can
collect .623 gallons of water. That's 620 gallons of water for 1,000 square
feet of surface area . Example: Let's say the average rainfall in a given area
is 25 inches per year. A road of 10 square feet can produce 15,5 gallons of
water per year.
