1. Right / Wrong
- Shanta Sharma
Back when I was a student,
I was being taught grammar.
Listening attentively,
I was asked to state the tense of the verbs in
“I See you”, “ I am seeing you”
Without any hesitation, I replied “Past Tense”
Which brought bouts of laughter from class-mates
I could not comprehend the reason.
The teacher yelled – “Despite repeated explanations,
You give a wrong answer”
I politely disagreed and requested my class-mates to
Allow me to explain the reason.
“Sir, when you talk, your words which emanate from you
Mingled with air, went to the past. I don’t think I should lie?”
Grammatically, you can argue – Simple Present Tense and Present
Continuous Tense.
Factually, when we walk, our steps are swallowed by the past.
Our Childhood disappeared in the darkness of the past.
Constantly our actions migrate to the past.
What we state as Future also moves to past.
It has strong existence.
We cannot state Past is Past… Present is nothing but Past.
Could you please clarify If I am right/wrong.
