the month of December will help Audi India finish the year strongly, exceeding our expectations
yet again. We attribute this success to our customers as well as our business partners who truly
appreciate our luxurious sporty design and progressive cutting edge technology. We are
confident that we will further this positive trend in 2011 with the opening of our new showrooms
in Delhi and Chennai early next year. We will also continue to enhance our product line with the
launch of our flagship ± the Audi A8 L and the all new super sports car Audi R8, equipped with
the powerful V10 engine´, said Michael Perschke, Head ± Audi India.

Globally, AUDI AG has already broken its 2008 sales record in the first eleven months of this

AUDI AG

AUDI AG develops and produces luxury cars and sold worldwide a total of 1,003,000 cars in 2008 and
thus achieved its thirteenth consecutive record year. Audi produces vehicles in Ingolstadt and
Neckarsulm (Germany), Györ (Hungary), Changchun (China) and Brussels (Belgium). Aurangabad in India
saw the start of local production of the Audi A6 at the end of 2007 and of the Audi A4 in early October
2008. The company is active in more than 100 markets worldwide. AUDI AG s wholly owned subsidiaries
include Automobili Lamborghini Holding S.p.A. in Sant Agata Bolognese (Italy) and Quattro GmbH in
Neckarsulm. Audi currently employs around 57,000 people worldwide, including 45,000 in Germany. The
brand with the four rings invests more than 2 billion each year in order to sustain the company s
technological lead embodied in its VorsprungdurchTechnik slogan. Audi plans to significantly increase
the number of models in its portfolio by 2015 to 40. The Audi brand celebrates its 100th birthday in
2009. The company was founded by August Horch in Zwickau on July 16, 1909; he named it Audi after
the Latin translation of his surname ( hark! ).

Audi plans second shift at India plant

NEW DELHI: German luxury carmaker Audi plans to churn out more from its existing plant in India
through a second production shift as it aims to more than double its sales by 2015, a top company
executive said.

The third-largest player in the Indian luxury car market may start second shift at its factory in
Aurangabad to take the production to 3,000 units by next year from 2000 units at present. It has already
surpassed last year s total sales of 1,658 cars by selling 1,876 cars in the first eight months of this year
and is targeting to end 2010 with sales of 2,700 cars.

Michael Perschke who heads Indian operations of Audi said the brand is not desperately chasing bigger
rivals BMW and Mercedes. We would prefer to be the most aspirational brand rather than a market
leader in volumes. We were the last to enter India, but the growth has been faster than expectations,
he said.

The luxury carmaker aims to sell over 6,000 cars in India by 2015, by when the segment is expected to
more than double to over 20,000 units a year. The company plans to launch the next generation of its
flagship sedan A8 by the year-end and has initiated a market study for its luxury A7 sedan. Audi is
looking to extend its product lineup and may import some new cars including a fresh sports utility
vehicle(SUV)for India, as the market is gradually shifting towards bigger vehicles. It assembles sedans, A4
and A6, at its Aurangabad facility and taking a cue from spiralling sales for SUVs had started assembling
its compact SUV, the Q5, from July. Local assembly allows a firm to price its products more aggressively
and attract consumers.
The Indian luxury car market is dominated by BMW and Mercedes. BMW displaced Mercedes-Benz as
the top seller in the segment in 2009 only to see its German rival snatch back the top slot in the first
seven months of this year. Besides Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche are also key players in the segment
that grew 26% to 12,950 units for the year ended March 2010. Several new players including Tata
Motors owned Jaguar and Land Rover entered the market last year and other global marquees like the
Toyota Lexus, Aston Martin and Ferrari are also eyeing India.

Audi India is the wholly owned subsidiary of German automobile manufacturer Audi. Audi's main
competitors in the Luxury vehicles segment in the Indian Automobile Industry are Mercedes-Benz,
BMW, Jaguar, Bentley and Volvo.

Audi eyes no.1 position by 2015 in India

German luxury auto maker Audi is drawing up severe plans to pip BMW and Mercedes Benz to

be number one by 2015.

The company wants to see sales triple in India by then.

AUDI AG board member Peter Schwarzenbauer -

By 2015, we aim to become number 1 in India. We have told our team in India to work towards
that aim. Our efforts, for brand building and developing dealerships for deeper market
penetration, are geared towards that.

Audi finished third last year in sales (1,685 units) behind BMW and Mercedes Benz. It plans to
capture the flag by not only expanding its model range but also dealerships, from 12 at present to
18 by end of next year. It is looking to start operations in Jaipur, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Nagpur,
Lucknow and Coimbatore.

Seeing the level of demand for premium SUVs in the country, Audi will begin assembling the
Q5 in the Aurangabad plant by the middle of this year. At present only A4 and A6 are being put
together in the country.
Audi plans small car for India , aims No. 1 in India lux segment

Luxury carmaker Audi¶s small car A1 is likely to hit the Indian roads by 2011. The smallest and
the least expensive hatchback from the Audi stable, unveiled in the just concluded Geneva Motor
Show, will first be launched in Europe this August. It is expected to be priced around ¼16,000
(about Rs 9.8 lakh).

The Indian launch could be by the end of 2011 or in 2012. In India, compared to other markets,
the small car segment is extremely big. This is quite developed, compared to the high-end where
we see demand still very small. But, on the lower end, there is a huge potential and A1 could be
a major boost.

The sporty premium compact car A1, which comes with turbo charged 1.2 and 1.4 litre petrol
engines and 1.6 litre common rail diesel engine, plus a start-stop system, is globally pitched
against BMW Mini and Alfa Romeo Mito.

Audi also unveiled A1 s electric version, the A1 e-tron, at the Geneva show. Top company
executives said it would be launched by 2014-15.

The premium small car may not come at a small price in India. A1 s pricing in India could turn
out to be a challenge for Audi as completely-built units attract 110 per cent customs duty. Audi is
finding the premium compact segment in India is evolving itself into a niche segment which
could augur well for its India plans.

Audi is eying numerouno position in Indian market by 2015

German luxury auto maker Audi is planning to beat rivals BMW and Mercedes to acquire the
numerouno position in the Indian premium car market in the next five years, tripling its sales in
the country by then.

Audi stood at number three position in India in 2009 with BMW and Mercedes occupying the
first and second ranks respectively in the luxury car segment in the country. Audi is also
targeting sale of about 5,000 units in India by 2015, up from 1,658 units in 2009.

It also plans to significantly increase the number of its dealerships from 12 currently to 18 by
next year. The new dealerships are lined up at Jaipur, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Nagpur, Lucknow and
Coimbatore.

The company will also start assembling its compact SUV Q5 in India by the middle of this year
at the Aurangabad plant

BMW races past Mercedes; sells 5,345 units from January to November
2010 |
BMW India has managed to outperform competitor Mercedes-Benz yet again, by selling 5,345 units in
the January-November period of 2010. Mercedes-Benz sold 5,109 units in the same period. According to
data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), BMW s sales in the first eleven
months of 2010 grew by 60.17 percent over sales in the corresponding period last year. Mercedes
posted an even most impressive growth of 75.27 percent, but could not match BMW s volumes.

Audi, the third big luxury car company in the country, too, saw a growth of 70.4 percent in the Jan-Nov
2010 period, with a total sales figure of 2,803 units, compared to 1,645 units in Jan-Nov 2009.
Mercedes-Benz India CEO, WilfriedAulbur, told mediapersons recently that the company s focus was not
on being number one, but on profitable growth and customer relationship. Auto industry analysts say
that with the year about to come to end, Mercedes is no longer expected to surpass BMW India s sales.

It assembles sedans, A4 and A6, at its Aurangabad facility and taking a cue from spiralling sales for SUVs had started assembling its compact SUV, the Q5, from July. Local assembly allows a firm to price its products more aggressively and attract consumers.

  • 7. Audi plans small car for India , aims No. 1 in India lux segment Luxury carmaker Audi¶s small car A1 is likely to hit the Indian roads by 2011. The smallest and the least expensive hatchback from the Audi stable, unveiled in the just concluded Geneva Motor Show, will first be launched in Europe this August. It is expected to be priced around ¼16,000 (about Rs 9.8 lakh). The Indian launch could be by the end of 2011 or in 2012. In India, compared to other markets, the small car segment is extremely big. This is quite developed, compared to the high-end where we see demand still very small. But, on the lower end, there is a huge potential and A1 could be a major boost. The sporty premium compact car A1, which comes with turbo charged 1.2 and 1.4 litre petrol engines and 1.6 litre common rail diesel engine, plus a start-stop system, is globally pitched against BMW Mini and Alfa Romeo Mito. Audi also unveiled A1 s electric version, the A1 e-tron, at the Geneva show. Top company executives said it would be launched by 2014-15. The premium small car may not come at a small price in India. A1 s pricing in India could turn out to be a challenge for Audi as completely-built units attract 110 per cent customs duty. Audi is finding the premium compact segment in India is evolving itself into a niche segment which could augur well for its India plans.
