The customer had been very demanding right from the beginning and was
expecting pixel perfection. Sigma Infosolutions had existing technology skills
and project management processes for this portal development. The team
leveraged its expertise on Drupal and other web technologies to develop a
comprehensive theme for the portal from scratch. The portal was a central
point of access for video chat, student course documents and connecting with
other professionals in the university.
The client's success rate largely depended on the performance of the portal.
Since the one-to-one video chat was handled by third party media server,
integrating such a system had some major challenge particularly rendering
long videos, as the system suffered with sound echo and latency which was
later replaced with customized algorithm and controllers to handle these
along with inclusion of flash media server functionality into the portal.
The Client serves foreign language programs by connecting university foreign
language students from all over the world. The Client is based out of North
America.
