The document discusses the research, planning, construction, editing, and evaluation processes for creating a chocolate documentary. Research was conducted online using search engines like Google and Firefox to find photos, facts, and science information about chocolate. Blogger was used extensively to log progress and embed research findings like audience feedback graphs. Video footage was filmed with a Sony camera and tripod then uploaded and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro. Photoshop was used to design a poster. The editing stage on Premiere Pro's timeline involved adding and arranging footage with transitions. Blogger proved an effective tool for recording the entire production process.
3. Research
To research for documentaries in my genre of chocolate, I decided to get most of
my research from the internet and websites such as YouTube. I completed this on
the schools computers and computer at home. Firefox was another useful search
engine that I decided to use while carrying out my research, I used Google to
search for photos and facts about chocolate, information about the science of
chocolate and different other bits of research that I would also use to create this
documentary.
Also the internet was available for different types of research.
I used the internet off my phone when we weren’t near a
computer in case we needed to find fast information when
filming. For example; the best selling chocolate bar in the
world.
4. Blogger – Research and Planning
• We used blogger a lot through our project to keep updated on our work and to
log what we did throughout. Blogger is an easy to use website that was clear
to keep track of our progress through wile working. The idea was to blog
every step we took by the filming or process throughout, from the beginning
to end of the project.
• Blogger was useful as we can change the font, customise our individual blog,
embed images and videos to show our progress through and to also see what
we were researching and to have evidence of this.
• Through blogger we could also embed all of our research and analysis of the
target audience feedback questionnaire and collaborate them into many
graphs.
• I used blogger everyday to change or update my on-going work with different
ideas.
5. Construction
Through the construction stage of creating our documentary the school
computer was used with all the software already updated onto it. The video
camera Sony HXR MC20D0E this is the camera we used throughout to film our
chocolate documentary on. Along with the camera to hold it still whilst filming
we used a tripod this helps create a still shot to create a professional look
through. After filming we uploaded our footage onto the using PC by a USB
transfer cable connecting the computer and the video camera together. We
then uploaded it to Adobe Premier Pro, this is where we got to choose the
footage we wanted to use in the on-going process of our documentary. We also
used Adobe Photoshop to create a poster for our documentary we used
relevant text and logos by using Google images to get a copyright Channel 4
logo. We also used a radio studio to
create the voiceover to add over the
top of our documentary. This room
was used as the soundproof room
helps create a crisp sound with no
background noise added.
6. Editing
To edit our video, we used Adobe Premier Pro, this is based on a timeline
where you can add footage and take footage away also being ale to move
footage to a different section of the timeline. This was the main part of our
coursework as this was time consuming with the different types of orders we
could create our documentary in. Using cross dissolves and other edits over
the top for various transitions this was our main focus to create the right ones to
make it look professional.
Adobe is also part of Photoshop where we created our poster, this is also being
able to be opened in Premiere Pro to add to our documentary if we preferred.
7. Evaluation
• Blogger is used to record everything throughout making this media product
from logging the filming, editing, research and to even plan the activities or
log when filming.
• Blogger is easy to access on any computer with the internet as it is an
internet based software
• I managed to keep my blog up to date by changing any small detail I also
managed to make my blogger personal to me by embedding different images
and videos to make it interactive for the viewer.
• Through the process I mainly completed my work on word then copied and
pasted it on to blogger as I found this easier when embedding pictures.
• After completing a section of my blog I published it to keep on top knowing
that my drafts were the ones that needed finishing and the ones that were
published were complete.
