ELESIG Social networking chat on Learner Partnerships 20 - 26 June 2016

ELESIG's social networking slowchat is a way for ELESIG members to discuss a set topic on social networking sites. The chat lasts for one week. There are a series of six questions used to aid discussion.

Participants do not have to be using any one social networking site or participating at the same time, so we can unfold great discussions over the week, regardless of time-zone or social networking platform.

You can participate in any language, but please always use the hashtag #ELESIGchat You can use a free translation tool such as: https://translate.google.com

  6. 6. #ELESIGchat Tools to help you follow the chat There are many tools to help you follow online chats. You can discover these by doing a search online. Here are a few recommendations: http://www.tweetchat.com Tweetchat creates a simple feed of tweets using the chat hashtag. You can use tweetchat to join in the discussion to send your own tweets and it automatically adds the hashtag in your tweet for you. You can also pause the tweets to give you time to read and respond or take a break. https://twitterfall.com Twitterfall displays tweets realtime with the chat hashtag but filters out retweets, which is handy so you do not read information twice. You can send your own tweets, but it does not automatically add the hashtag. https://hootsuite.com and https://tweetdeck.twitter.com allow you to search for a hashtag to track and join in the conversation. You can set up multiple streams, so can have a stream for the chat, alongside your own twitter stream and direct messages.
  7. 7. #ELESIGchat Any Questions If you have any questions or would like to facilitate an #ELESIGchat in relation to investigations of learners’ experiences and uses of technology in learning, please contact Katharine Jewitt, ELESIG Chair at k.Jewitt@open.ac.uk
