Bloom's Workshop

We will be facing a workforce crisis soon that has already shown up as retention and succession problems for the past decade in talent management practices. By 2025, 75% of the workforce is made up of Millennials. An urgent strategic plan from organizations, governments and communities is needed with enhanced collaborative efforts among systemic parties, as such. As business and human resources leaders, we can innovate through this discussion group to make a difference and influence the organizations we work for, even without authority! Leadership skills will be impacted and more readily required, from younger generations on, to prepare for the upcoming trends, traits and trajectories of the people-centric organizations and purpose economy.

SCARF Model for Managing Organization Stress
Have you ever felt that your life was in immediate danger? You remember feeling a burst of adrenaline as your heart race, and you moved into action or froze in your tracks.
Research shows that other situations, in which there is no physical danger, can trigger a similar response. This “fight, flight, or freeze” response decreases the ability to plan, make rational decisions, and perceive subtle social and cognitive signals. Unfortunately, these skills are needed during organizational change—just when people are likely to be triggered.
If you know how people are likely to be triggered, you can anticipate by putting measures in place to prevent disruptive responses. Use the SCARF Model to anticipate triggers and plan your next change initiative.
Johari Window
The Johari window model is used for self-awareness, personal development, and understanding relationships. It involves four panes that represent what a person knows about themselves (open and hidden areas) and what others know (open and blind areas). The goal is to increase the open area through feedback and disclosure to improve communication, cooperation, and effectiveness in groups and relationships.

Despite the myth of "digital natives," most of my students have very little experience using technology as anything more than a consumer device. It doesn't have to be this way. By using the design thinking cycle, teachers can foster creative thinking in every content area.
