TDD is a way to do incremental design, or design while you write code.
So can we use TDD to explore design alternatives?
Turns out, I've seen a lot of design exploration during the 30+ code retreats I facilitated and attended. While I don't have a definite proof, it seems that TDD could be used for this purpose.

The NewDay USA Foundation sponsored a major home renovation project for wounded veteran U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Sal Callender and his family over three months. NewDay USA Foundation employees volunteered their time on a weekend to help with painting and landscaping. The $100,000 renovation project included a new roof, siding, windows, landscaping, kitchen, and bathroom upgrades. Staff Sergeant Callender expressed his deep appreciation for helping his family after his service and injuries in Iraq.
