The Transportation Policy Research Center at Texas A&M Transportation Institute conducts research on Public Engagement within the transportation sector. Research in this area includes development and testing of outreach materials to produce clear, creative and credible outreach and education materials in a variety of forms that will help to inform and enlighten the state's transportation consumers, and support efforts to build consensus on how best to address the state's transportation needs, and how to pay for those needs.
This document discusses drug abuse trends from the perspective of a retired drug recognition expert. It notes that legal prescription drugs, including opioids, sedatives, stimulants, and anti-convulsants, are commonly abused. These drugs are abused for their psychoactive effects like euphoria, sedation, and increased energy. While many prescription drugs were not initially intended for abuse, high doses or alternative routes of administration can result in abuse potential. The document cautions that prevalence of abuse is difficult to determine but provides examples of medications commonly abused based on reports from treatment centers and prisons.

Cox Communications is considering acquiring Gannett Co. for $2.7 billion. This case study examines Cox's short and long-term funding needs if the acquisition occurs and how much would need to be met through external financing such as issuing common shares, debt, or hybrid securities. The findings suggest that Cox should purchase Gannett to expand its business and market share, while maintaining cash flows through equity issuance. The case analyzes the optimal financing strategy for Cox to raise the funds required for the acquisition.
This presentation covers how Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is facilitating, supporting, and providing safety solutions for their Impaired Driving Program.
This document discusses how the Texas Department of Public Safety's Highway Safety Operations Center collects and analyzes crash, criminal, and traffic enforcement data to help combat impaired driving. The HSOC provides analytical reports and data products to DPS and partner agencies. Analysis of holiday and weekend crash data found higher rates of impaired driving crashes on those days. Breaking data down by specific areas can help target enforcement efforts. The goals of the HSOC include statistical trend analysis and rapid assessment of incidents on Texas highways.
