Editor's Notes
Ask question: What is morale? Esprit de corps…. Common purpose The first phase of morale-driven improvement comes from investing in a process that leads to measuring morale in a scientific valid way. Collect data on the current climate of your organization. The second phase is interpreting the data. The third phase is using the best tools to implement change.
In the past 18 months, many employees have experienced or witnessed layoffs, terminations and whatever the new economic recession has dealt them. Those who remained employed have been given the message they should consider themselves lucky to have a job. As workloads and working hours increased, morale and productivity tanked. To make matters worse, your employee says, “I’d like to have a pay raise because I’m doing the work of two employees and haven’t had a pay raise in two years.”
