DATA developed the DATA Count & Weigh S 60. This
ground-breaking system combines counting and weighing to
provide a genuine and added-value solution when packaging
seeds in bulk.
For the first time, there is a compact solution based on DATA’s
counting abilities, achieving real-time control on the packaging
process of large seeds when packed in significant quantities.
The DATA Count S60 can easily be integrated into any
packaging line, with no need for mechanical or engineering
changes.
Using this unique solution, large quantities of seeds - as
small as 0.5 mm and as large as 25 mm - can be rapidly and
accurately counted.
It is ideally suited for field crops which sold in number but
packaged according to seed count like Corn, Soybeans, Cotton,
Beans, Sweet Corn and others.

Data S 60 counting and weighing in one system
1. DATA S-60:
Counting and Weighing in ONE System
After identifying a crucial need for inline counting & weighing
control, DATA developed the DATA Count & Weigh S 60. This
ground-breaking system combines counting and weighing to
provide a genuine and added-value solution when packaging
seeds in bulk.
For the first time, there is a compact solution based on DATA’s
counting abilities, achieving real-time control on the packaging
process of large seeds when packed in significant quantities.
Until recently, the seed industry tried to reduce weight variation
by performing periodical offline sampling during the packaging
process. This labor-intensive and imprecise practice requires an
operator to count according to a predetermined number, weigh
the count, record the TSW/TKW (Thousand Seed Weight) data
and, finally, manually change the weight filler set-point.
With DATA’s new solution, inline counting and weighing
sampling has become fully automated and in real-time. TSW/
TKW parameters are communicated live to the weight filler,
which auto-adjusts the set-point accordingly. The result:
MAIN ADVANTAGES
Automating the traditional sampling process:
• No minimal sampling interval – enabling many more samples
per hour
• Bulk counting – increasing sampling size and significantly
accelerating the count cycle compared to traditional methods
• Real-time TSW/TKW data communication – allowing auto-
adjustment of weight fillers set-point
• High accuracy – reducing weight variations and enhancing
packing accuracy (particularly with large seed volumes)
• Automatic calibration – eliminating any need for manual
intervention
• Adaptable operation – making operation possible on different
packaging lines (no mechanical changes required)
• Scalable seed size – accommodating seed counting from
0.5 mm to 25 mm
FEATURES
• 99.9 % accuracy
• Real-time feeder adjustments for optimal accuracy
• Rapid counting rates
• User-friendly interface
• Manual and automatic calibration modes
• Multi-language user interface
• Touch panel PC control
• Count rates of more than 4000 corn seeds per minute
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Compressed dry air
• Voltage: 115/230 VAC, 1-phase
• Frequency: 50/60 Hz
• Power consumption: 120 W
• Circuit breaker rate: Minimum 10 A slow blow

HOW DOES
IT WORK?
• Seeds are taken from the packaging line
• Sensor in the hopper activates the seed counter
• HMI stops the counter when no seeds remain
• Seeds are weighed
• Seeds are calculated per Lb./TSW
• Sample seeds per Lb./TSW calculation is sent to
the packing machine PLC
DATA will exhibit the system in the
upcoming ASTA CSS Congress in
Chicago. Please feel free to stop
by to meet us, as well as see themachine in action!
More precise seed per Lb. or TSW, with accurate calibration
of weight-filling scales. In some cases (possibly due to
regulations), where there is no option to change the set point,
the customer (for the first time) will have real control on the
complete batch, having the ability to track changes in seed size
and weight variation.
Inherent errors of counted-by-weight seed bags are reduced,
while packaging accuracy is increased.
The solution enables two major points:
• Online control on the packaging process
• Setup of new set point of TSW automatically
The DATA Count S -60 PLUS can easily be integrated into any
packaging line, with no need for mechanical or engineering
changes.
