5. Les Expressions Négatives
We can make sentences negative in French by simply putting ne
before the verb and pas after the verb.
Jean ne parle pas anglais.
There are some additional expressions to make sentences
negative in French as well.
J'étudie toujours. Je n'étudie jamais.
Quelqu'un étudie beaucoup. Personne n'étudie beaucoup. Tu
étudies quelque chose. Tu n'étudies rien
Toujours Always Jamais Never Quelqu'un Someone
Personne No one Quelque chose Something Rien Nothing
As you saw in the first table, the negative expressions are used
with ne.
Paul n'étudie jamais.
Personne n'étudie jamais.
Paul n'étudie rien.

of the passé composé are

Le passé composé That's because they're
