Chiropractice By S3 S-vyasa
Definition A primary health care professions in which professional responsibilities and authority are focused on the anatomy of the spine and immediate articulation, and the condition of spinal nerve interference.
Chiropractice is a form of alternative medicine  that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system , especially the spine , under the hypothesis that these disorders affect general health via the nervous disorder
The word Chiropractic comes from the Greek words cheir and praxis which means done by hand.
Founder D.D(Daniel David ) Palmer, B.J Palmer helped to expand it in the early 20th century
ADJUSTMENT: The specific application of forces used to facilitate the body’s correction of spinal nerve interference. CHIROPRACTIC PRACTICE OBJECTIVE: is to correct spinal nerve interference in a safe, effective manner.
The PHILOSOPHY of CHIROPRACTIC Chiropractors approach health in a holistic manner. the body is able to maintain and heal itself in most cases. it is the body that conducts and manages the process of healing and not the doctor or externally applied forces.
VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION A misalignment of one or more of the vertebrae in the spinal column, which causes alteration of nerve functions and interference to the transmission of mental impulses resulting in a lessening of the body’s innate ability to express its maximum health potential.
Results of subluxations Neuropathology, or nerve damage. Kinesiopathology , or joint damage. Histopathology, or tissue damage. Myopathology, or muscle damage.  Pathophysiology, or overall health damage.
Steps of chiropractic History taking Analysis inspection manual palpation Spine and paraspinal region Hypo or hyperemia associated with vertebral subluxation Attachment of muscles Static vertebral position Areas of abnormal segmental motions to identify hyper or hypo mobility
Other clinical examination Range of motion Muscle strength testing Orthopedic/ neurological tests Mental status Quality of life assessment Substance abused and outcomes
The subluxation of the spines compress the nerves, interrupting the transmission of the vital force or nerve impulses resulting in the disease spinal abnormalities when corrected and spinal and nerve irritation when eliminated, pain is alleviated and the body's inborn healing capabilities are set into motion.
Techniques Manipulation is movement of short amplitude and high velocity that moves the joint beyond the limit the patient can move Mobilization is movements administered by the clinician within physiologic joint space in order to increase overall range of motion.
Benefits increase flexibility and joint functioning increase resistance to disease reduce stress improve posture prevent spinal disc degeneration
improve organic functions--heart, digestive organs, etc. relieve pressure on nerves -- pain may or may not be present improve balance and coordination reduce chronic pain improve overall health.
Indications Neck pain Mid back and lower back pain Chronic muscle pain and inflammation Acute and chronic muscle spasm Decreased spinal range of motion sciatica where disc bulges are contained less than 5 mm Failed back surgery Chronic occipital or tension headaches Conditions where narcotic pain relievers are of little benefit
Contra-indication Malignancy with metastasis to bone Tuberculosis of the bone Fractures Acute arthritis Acute gout Uncontrolled diabetic neuropathy Syphilitic articular or periarticular lesions Gonorrheal spinal arthritis Excessive spinal osteoporosis Evidence of cord or caudal compression by tumor, ankylosis and malacia bone disease.
