Tailwind Traders decided to implement Azure Hybrid technologies to better manage and extend their on-premises environment with Azure cloud services. In this session we are going to have a look how they do this.

There are two approaches to Hybrid Cloud. One is bringing down consistent cloud services to the customers location. This can be done through products like Azure Stack.
The other approach is to connect on-prem infrastructure to Azure Hybrid Services.
This session will focus on the second one (connecting services)
The tools TT will use to make this work, are Windows Server, Windows Admin Center and Azure Stack HCI
Windows Server as we know it
Windows Admin Center a web-based server management UI, which delivers great remote management capabilities and enables TT to easily connect to Azure Hybrid Services
And in some office locations TT is going to deploy Azure Stack HCI, which is a solution based on both Windows Server, Windows Admin Center and validated hardware.
Let’s have a look at the challenges TT faces and how they can use Azure Hybrid services to solve these challenges and make their on-prem better.
A big challenge TT faces is DR
For TT DR is:
Very expensive
Complex
Inflexible
The have trouble with the initial replication
And they don’t always meet the distance requirements
Let’s have a look how TT uses Azure Site Recovery to prepare for DR
The next scenario that is supported would be to use Azure as your actual DR Site. This allows TT for a full failover without having another Datacenter. This works with System Center VMM, VMWare vCenter or just Hyper-V or ESXi with vSphere. This allows for both Enterprises, Branch offices or even SMBs to use Azure and ASR as their full DR Datacenter.
Another big paint point for TT is managing updates across multiple environments and different operating systems
As we all know ensuring our operating systems are up to date is a big part of reducing the attack surface of our environments. Let’s see the challenges Tailwind Traders face.
TT needs to ensure that physical and virtual machines, both on-prem and IaaS, running Windows or Linux operating systems remain current with software updates
-On Prem you can use Windows Software Update Services, but that only supports Windows, not linux.
Should be possible to determine if physical and virtual machines, both on-prem and IaaS, running Windows or Linux are compliant with current updates
Want to centralize deployment of software updates to on-prem and IaaS Windows and Linux computers
Transition: Azure Update Management will do all of this for you.

Allows TT to check update compliance of their Windows and Linux computers, both on-prem and in Azure IaaS
Allows TT to deploy and install software updates to Windows and Linux computers, both on-prem and in Azure IaaS
Allows TT to avoid having to use different products depending on operating system or where the computer is located within the hybrid deployment
Note: you can have Azure Software Update work with your on-prem Windows Software Update Services servers to deploy updates closer to your targets.
