3. INTRODUCTION TO HULL
• Hull is a part of the city of Gatineau, but was once a city before
amalgamation
• The local economy houses thousands of employees working for the public
service, including provincial and federal; the employees do not all live in
Hull, but in other parts of Gatineau. As such, there is a young, resilient mix
of students and lower-income residents in Hull.
• There is are two main streets filled with independent retailers, Eddy Street,
and St Joseph.
• The café culture is fantastic!
6. INTRODUCTION CONTINUED…
• This presentation shows the diversity and range of businesses that
have setup in a floor of a house, because there is no real estate for
new developments.
• Hull is old, and new construction would require housing demolition,
so residents just used their houses instead.
