- I am a former public librarian with experience working with children, teens, adult and collection development, I was able to transfer tech skills to an academic library position. For a librarian, I am about the least organized person I know. I went to a training about Evernote on a whim, and it wasn’t till I started using it to save everything that I realized its power. Now I tell everyone I meet about this program, because if it can make me feel even a little bit organized. Imagine what it will do for the rest of the world!
- Create and store “notes” from many devices that sync across multiple devices. Search, sort, tag, annotate, edit, share and add comments to notes. Store almost any kind of electronic information in the same place. Evernote is freemium app, meaning that there is a charge for some functions or features.
- There are 3 levels of Evernote are Basic, Plus and Premium as well as an Enterprise or Business version. Evernote use refers to the amount of new uploads each month. Occasional use is equal to 60MB of new uploads per month.
- Download—if using on your personal computer Available for Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer (IE) 7+, Firefox, and Opera. Looking for the app? Just visit the store on your device. There are also apps built on top of the Evernote platform or designed to work with Evernote.
- Get the Web Clipper In Firefox-Open your browser, go to Settings and then Add-ons Search for Evernote Web Clipper Click “Install” to add it to your browser
- In Chrome-Open your browser, go to the Chrome Web Store https://chrome.google.com/webstore Search for Evernote Web Clipper Click “Get it” to add it to your browser For the web clipper, choose the extension. The app adds Evernote to your Chrome apps to let you easily access the web version of Evernote.
- Start clipping! Once the browser extension is installed, you should see the Evernote icon (elephant) in the top right of your browser. Find something you want to clip, click on the icon, choose the format you want to clip, where you want to save it, add tags and more and click save. Now it will show up in your notes, in whatever notebook you chose.
- What is a note? You can take notes that are a piece of formatted text, a full webpage or webpage excerpt, a photograph, a voice memo, a handwritten "ink" note and more. Notes can be sorted into notebooks, tagged, annotated, edited, given comments, searched, and exported as part of a notebook.
- What is a notebook? Simply, a collection of notes. But if all you think about are hand or typewritten notes, you are not fully appreciating the breadth Evernote offers. When I really began to use Evernote, I realized it was like a Trapper Keeper or a scrapbook. (Does anyone here remember Trapper Keepers? They’re back, by the way!) Imagine notebooks like virtual trapper keepers or scrapbooks. Things that you would hole punch for a binder or place in physical folders, items that you might glue down in a scrapbook. Now you can see them online. If it is digital or can be made digital, you can save and organize and search and access it here.
- Here I used Evernote to brainstorm, outline and save information including hyperlinks for a presentation on Spooky Resources I did last year.
- This is am example of a report that includes the addition of tables. One nice feature is that I was able to copy and paste from Evernote directly into MS Word without losing any details or formatting. In addition, you can export notes
- This is scanned and emailed…a benefit of using downloading Evernote to your desktop is how it displays attached files.
- While I am still mourning the Evernote Food App which they JUST stopped supporting, I love how easy it is to clip and save online recipes. I used to keep a blog to save these, but this is faster and very visually appealing.
- To be completely honest, I find that the basic Evernote does what I want, but I wanted to mention these tools: Skitch: Get your point across with fewer words using annotation, shapes, and sketches, so that your ideas become reality faster. Whether on the go or at the office, send paper on its way and move on. Penultimate: Penultimate is the best-selling, easy-to-use handwriting app for iPad. This app gives you the fun and natural experience of writing on paper, with the added power of Evernote and the flexibility of a tablet. Lose the paper, keep the handwriting.
- There are several apps that Evernote makes, like the EvernoteWeb Clipper, Evernote Scannable, and there are hundreds of other great apps that independent developers have made that help Evernote users do amazing things with personal and team data. All the apps here hook into individuals' Evernote accounts and either create notes in new ways, or help users discover or display notes they already have. For example, use Post a chio to create a blog post from Evernote by tagging the note “published.” Use Shoeboxed to create digital documents from paper documents in your Evernote account — no scanning required.
