Pre-school education is optional and covers children
who have not yet reached the age of entry to
primary education.

Primary Education, which is free at all state schools,
is for the education of children between the ages of
5 and 10, and it is compulsory for all.

The primary education program includes:
mathematics,
social studies, science, civics and
human rights,
the history of the Turkish Republic and
Atatürk's reforms,
music, art/handicraft , physical
education
a foreign language (English, French or
German),
individual and group activities,
religious culture and ethics,

career guidance, and elective courses.

13. Secondary School Education
With a new Law in 2012, four years of Secondary school is
also compulsory today.
After finishing the Primary school, the students between the
ages of 10 and 14 continue the Secondary school. They
study Turkish, Social Science, Science and Technology,
Maths, Foreign Language, Visual Arts, Physical Education,
Religion Culture, Techonology Designing and optional
subjects.

school, they get their Document of
Complement (according to the new system)
and can go for the High education.
