1. Entry 1
In this journal, I’m going to do a reflection journal for lecture one. In the
first lecture Ms. Pang Chia Yee asked us to write a few sentences of “I am…” to
identify who are we specifically. I find it very interesting. There are four important
aspects we have to know about ourself, first is who are you, what is your gender,
your feelings, and memories you had experienced.
Halfway in the lecturer, we are asked to gather in a circle and everyone
had to briefly say something about ourselves. It was really great and fun as we
are able to learn and know about our classmates more. I also learned that we
cannot be able to predict our behaviors and feelings, and we also tend to
overestimate a lot of times in our daily basis.
Besides that, I also learned that positive thinking is very important as it will
effect on how we think daily. If we think negatively, everything we do will always
feel sad, boring and meaningless. We must always think positively so that we will
be more motivated and be more positive and happy in our daily lives. It was a
great lecture to me as it teaches me to be positive and learn more about myself.
2. Entry 2
This journal will be for last week’s lecture which was about visuals. In this
lecture teaches that different colours have different meanings to it. I learned
that red colours tend to catches our attention more according to psychology
studies. That is why our traffic lights are red in colour, and red is also used in
valentine’s day and some major events like the red carpet.
Ms. Pang Chia Yee also showed us a few pictures which boggled our
mind as because in the picture, there are two objects that can be found in a
single drawing. In other words, it was like an illusion. That part was fun as we all
tried to figure out what can be found in the pictures shown.
I also learned inattentional
blindness, which is when we focus and
concentrate on something, we tend to not look at other things around us. Ms.
Pang Chia Yee showed us a video survey which is about the survey called
invisible gorilla. It was really interesting and fun thing to learn in this lecture.
3. Entry 3
This journal will be for this week’s lecture which is attitude and social
judgements. I learned that attitudes are positive or negative evaluations of
objects of thoughts. There are also 3 main components which Ms. Pang Chai
Yee told us, she gave us a easier way to remember by just remembering the
letters a,b and c. A stands for affective, B stand for behavioral, and C stands for
cognitive.
Ms. Pang Chia Yee also showed us a few videos related to “monkey see,
monkey do”. I learned that we tend to look and learn from someone who has
the experience or knowledge because it is on our nature. We also learned from
someone who is older than us, has more knowledge and more experienced.
I also learned that by giving positive reinforcements to someone when
he/she did a good job, they will tend to do the action that they just did to get
more positive reinforcements. For example, if a bird knows that it has to peck the
door in order to get its food, it will keep on pecking because food is it’s positive
reinforcement. I can say that this was one of the most interesting and fun lecture,
and I learned a lot from it.
